Ive had a terrible mouth sore for a couple of months which I thought was from a bad tooth. I had the tooth extracted but my dentist made me have a biopsy done on the sore. Turns out it is cancer. I spent the afternoon with my oncologist today discussing my treatment and surgery. I asked him about what he thought about vaping and if possibly it had anything to do with it. He said absolutely it was not caused from that and was most likely from the 30 years of smoking tobacco. I told him I was no longer vaping nicotine, and he said good, but nicotine wouldnt do it either. I will be having surgery next week and he is certain it is going to be ok, I caught it very early. I am so relieved and thankful that I quit smoking because now my outlook is so much better. My Dr was very knowledgable about Ecigs surprisingly. He said that while there has been no studies done really, there really is nothing in the vapor that is carconegenic (sp?) and after I am healed up if I still need to vape then I have his ok.
Please have any sore or wound in your mouth looked at. Even if you think its nothing.

Just wanted to update you all on my surgery. I had it a week ago Tuesday and I came home Monday. Im feeling a little better today mouth is still hurting and throat is also sore. I had both mouth and throat surgery. I will be on a full liquid diet for awhile and of course I will be taking some time off from work. I talked with my Drs about what they thought my case was caused from and it is most likely caused by the HPV viirus I had 10 years ago. Anyway..everyone who is worried about mouth sores please get them checked out.

Wow Plantgirl, that sounds scary. I'm so glad you caught it early, and fast healing to you.

Oral cancer is a really under-publicized result of HPV. A lot of cancers are caused by it besides the commonly-known cervical cancer. It sounds like your doctors are all over it and really knowledgeable so I hope everything continues to go well!
