Yeah because he said he only had 4 pieces available, they went quick.
I'm sorry but having only 4 each of the top plastics is bad planning and seems like they simply got lucky and had a few left over from the whole assembly process. Don't know if Imeo makes those pieces himself or has them made for him.
Maybe they lost some of the plastics from the assembly process because I know that the plastics I received with iAtty were "very slightly" cross
threaded (top of the threads) already when I got them. As I was assembling iAtty for the first time I found that the bottom plastic/metal base seemed to be threading fine but I then ran into resistance that told me they were either cross threaded or had gunk in the threads causing them to bind up. I knew it wasn't gunk so when I felt the threads start to bind up I took them apart and saw that the plastic at the top of the threads was "feathered". It has been my experience that when you have a steel part and a plastic or nylon part mating together the steel part can/will cut into/through the threads of a plastic part and the result is that the tops of the threads are feathered. Basically because the plastic threads are cut in half by the steel threads cross threading over them.
I just know that I have to be careful when assembling iAtty because the bottom plastic is partially cross threaded right at the top of the threads (were they are most vulnerable) , the same leading threads that start the whole mating process. Takes several attempts before I can get the threads right so that it mates together smoothly. Not a huge deal but a concern.
And you're right, having a live inventory count "should" be a standard feature. If the backend that drives the ordering process is database driven it's easy to create a query or calculated field against the table that holds the quantity of items on hand.
I wonder how many units were shipped (and to date sold by COV) to COV because I see they still have SSGGTS for sale? I know this is a hot item and I expected it to be sold out within a day at most.
I suppose part of this post is simply a rant because I really need a top plastic and only four were made available.
