After I get it all back together, I open the liquid control all the way up.

I just built one of my Odysseus like this, (a modified version of this since I use nextel) I agree it's much better. Odysseus was great set up the original way, but I like this better, the wick feeds more consistently and I agree the flavor is better too. As always monster vapor production.

Benjalotus, 26 gauge resistance wire is WAY TOO FAT!!! You're battery can't heat it up hot enough to maintain the temp required to vaporize our juices ;)

The way I made mine I just made a regular coil (nextel) who's ends hang in the tank and cut two tiny pieces of wick big enough to plug the channels in the bottom (you have to screw the knurled ring on from the bottom instead of the top of the ceramic holder) then into the base. Works great! No leaking, better flavor, much better juice control ;) I will be building all of my coils this way from now on.
