Taxes...in 2008 in the U.S. tobacco taxes were 16+ billion.
BP Pofits... not only for the pills, patches, inhalers etc which are a dismal failure and have a very high return customer rate but also all the drugs used to help those suffering from Cancer.
"Non Pofit" Orgs...lots of "non profit" orgs with many fat cat execs getting paid exorbitant salaries... introduce a viable/ successful alternative to smoking and they'd have to go out and get a real job rather than being dependent on the suffering of their fellow man.
Politicians...getting funding from the Big Biz sector that does not want vaping to succeed.
Also noted earlier it's all about the money and has nothing to do with compassion.

i believe it would be very simmilar to when they tried to ban alcohol. what happened was people making it themselves then selling it on the black market making the gangs profit and the government get no payoff from taxing it.
there would also be a huge uprising from smokers if it was banned, imagin hundreds of thousands of nicotine craving smokers going nuts and being angry. not even god could save us.
e cigs are bannable because they are new and dont have a widespread knowledge on them. if they are going to ban them they will do it quickly before it catches on.
its not always a bad thing though if you still vape when its ilegal, prices would hit the floor for exsample if they legalized weed in many countrys the price would skyrocket just due to taxes and regulations on it.

I don't think it's the government's role to ban tobacco or smoking. They presume too much already. I am an adult and I vote to elect political representatives, not nannies. Lately they seem to be forgetting exactly why they're in office. I give you Mayor Bloomberg as Exhibit A. They need to get rid of that control freak yesterday.
