I think for this to become a "sticky", someone would have to ask Jeff or a mod to do it....Id sticky it but I dont think Im allowed those functions :( Thanks for the thank you's tho, Im glad I could help so many....when I figured it out, I immediately checked aboout a half dozen atties I **thought** were DOA/Dead/cold but realized this was an easily fixed prob :thumb:

I was thinking a sticky with the care and feeding of a Chuck would be a good idea. It could include links to this post; a link to the post where Jeff told us about the automotive polish; instruction to never tighten that screw, etc. I'm sure there are lots of worthwhile tips that I don't know.

No conversation -- the info tends to get buried that way and questions can always be put in another thread -- just info.

I just got myself a big chuck and a little chuck for my wife. They are both 510 and mine works fine with 510 atties or carts and the adapter from Jeff. My wife's will only work with a 510 atty, if I try the adapter it won't fire. Any ideas?

Once I get enough posts I won't have to thread jack anymore and can then post some pics of our chucks in use. Until then sorry.

I am bumping this up.
I forgot where in ECF I saw it but if you use cartos and they are hard to draw on...808's seem so much harder to draw than just throwing on a 510....then use this little trick with your adapters.

It is exactly the same principle the CTJ has. The top of the adapter has a regular screw head on it. Take a screwdriver and twist the inside head up so it raises up some. The carto will now not screw all the way down. (don't over tighten the carto) and blammo! Super easy draw.

Not my idea, its on a tips and tricks thread somewhere but I definately thought it would be worth mentioning down here in chuckland.

YES! just be gentle whatever method you choose and you will be fine. Ive NEVER ruined any attys doing this and have used tweezers, toothpicks, nails (both wall nails and fingernails ;)) and never dismantled a thing...but I KNOW theres a wire attached SOMEWHERE to it so i try and be as gentle as possible. :)
