According to an American Lung Association pamphlet, "About 70 percent of smokers who quit are likely to relapse the first three months."

If you have quit smoking tobacco cigarettes, have you made it past the three month mark yet?

As my signature shows, it has been over a year for me. I have no cravings for cigarettes. I even have 19 unopened packs (probably pretty stale by now) sitting in a bag in my dining room. They don't tempt me in the least.

I see the post but not the poll. Is it my browser? I'm using FireFox.

...and yes. I'm way past 3 months now. These days trying to smoke an analog tastes about as good as licking the bottom of the cat box. Don't understand how I did that for 45 years (smoking, not licking cat boxes).

...ahh! Now it comes up.

The pv experience for me has been so craving free and guilt free, I wonder if its real sometimes, haven't even thought of smoking anything this year.Smoked two packs + every going out night for 30 years, in three days that ended with out any desire to go back.May the person who thought this up be richer than bill gates and happier than mr Gilmore.

I'm at five months. In the past few days, I've been feeling an urge to smoke a cigarette. I've considered buying a pack. But, my previous experience from a few months ago tells me I won't like it enough to complete a single cigarette. And then I'd have 19 left to go stale or give away. I'm not $7 worth of curious.

I should've noted: At the time when I quit smoking, I had 7-8 cartons. I sold/gave them away over a couple months' time. Figured they were just going stale. I also lit up a few times before I did. Gack!

Oddly , had to have a real pack of smokes in my kit for 2 months even though the desire for them was gone. The chain vaping took a while too , old habits are hard to let go of.The most moment was when I knew i could walk away from the smoking or vaping (corona makes it easier but cost more).

For a while, I carried around a "panic kit" in my purse. Did you know that one cigarette and a disposable lighter fit perfectly into an empty blue Commit container?

actually, to get the information I think you are looking for you should have asked for those who went back to cigarettes within three months......some of the folks here who selected less than three months may be eligible to vote more than three months soon.....
I'm not positive I understand your point. I chose "longer than 3 months", but I soon would have been able to select "longer than 6 months" ... there has to be divisions somewhere for there to be multiple choices. Or, am I complettely missing it? You mean because of the 70%? Hmmm, so maybe she should only asked those 3 months in, to re-establish the original findings. <sigh> I don't know, I'm tired and probably confused.
