LOL. I felt that way at first. You have my sympathy.
Have you tried wrapping the coil around a needle or nail along with the wicking material? I found that that helps a lot, as it gives you something solid against which to make nice, even wraps. It also prevents to whole thing from bunching up and getting too tight, which I had a tendency to do at first.
And then there are all those online instructional videos. There don't seem to be many for the IGO yet, but the basic techniques are the same as those used in the Vivi Nova rebuild, which might help.

Dave uses a machine screw with large spaced threads. No need to adjust coils that way since the coils sit in the threads. Pretty decent way of doing. Just wanted to throw that out there. Go dave!
