Oh my god Oz! A breath? Yeah I need a few of those
That is Incredible! You are amazing man.
How about your own category on the site and the orders get sent to you. Just wow

I think we can figure something out :)

I'd have to check the numbers, but I think the 4 stands in the second picture are all unsold still. That picture was when I released that batch... the black bocote one sold before I could even get the full photo up so I had to mark it for the release. It's the same one with the Provari in it in the last picture. I was going to do it in red felt, but the blue matches some sports team that he really likes. I would've never tried the blue on it, but it came out looking fantastic.

I've been doing an early morning contract job for the last few years to help out with the slow times, but that contract is up at the end of the month. They haven't been treating me too well, so I'm not renewing the contract. I picked up a new job up the mountain that I start in a couple weeks. The training is going to be pretty intense for about a month - but it's a job I really, really wanted in a location that I absolutely love - so I'm going to be keeping the shop at a crawl at least until October. I've got a couple of commission jobs lined up, but they're from customers who don't mind a long wait time... cause they know I refuse to rush anything out of the shop before I feel it's ready to go.

I'll shoot you an email & we can talk about it. ;)

Thank you, Mr. Stud. Further "research" to follow.

Isaac - we'll chat. Probably not up to writing tonight, but SOON - and that's a promise.

Oz - your stuff is ... awesome. I'm not even a fan of wood stands, but it's got me thinking. As for rails, we have rails???? I dun thin so, Lucy.

You may not like what you've seen before, but that's because you've never had your hands on my wood.

...

Hmm. That may have come out wrong.

Just got my package and I have to say MRS. Ikenvape is the nicest lady there is. You are a very lucky man Isaac my friend.

Oz I have some of those old lathe tools that's in that pic.

Those look to be standard carving gouges for hand carving. Little too short & flimsy for lathe work. I dunno, the duck isn't mine. I was just trying to pull the thread back on track after it died all day. A duck seemed safe.

Please continue to derail all you wish, your wood work is gorgeous!

Evening folks :)

Thank you

My latest obsession is hand-cut dovetails. It's such an art. I've made some workable ones, but I'm still fine-tuning them. I got a dovetail saw finally which helps immensely. I was cutting them with a standard crosscut saw. The results were visually painful at times. I got a Veritas dovetail saw (which is cheap, but usable in the dovetail saw genre) and I couldn't believe the difference it's made so far. It's a pretty awesome little saw. Not the BadAxe Toolworks one I really want, but someday. :)

And I thank God every-hour, on-the-hour for that. :D

Not sure what it's needed for, but those work pretty well on copper. They take a little finesse though.

I'm screwed (no Ozzy-wood pun intended).

That's what I meant I don't know why I said lathe tools. Although the handles on the ones I have are longer they are so old and rusty they wouldn't cut anything.

I use my router with a dovetail bit to cut mine.

You need a quacking cow for that.

That's what I use and it will cut them off in one turn but they will also curl the tube in so turn that little knob just a bit and let it cut witout bending. If it does you can work the tube back into shape.

You can use those tubing cutters without that rollover, but it takes a lot more than one turn. That's what I meant about finesse. You just have to feel the resistance while spinning them & ride that edge before they get too tight.

I use my router with a dovetail bit to cut mine.

That's what I love about handcut dovetails. Honestly using a router jig is a waste of time these days. With the progress made in wood glue chemistry there are a ton of joints that are far, far better than dovetails. Even a regular old box joint done with a router is quicker, easier, cheaper & stronger than a dovetail. With a router jig, there's no art to a dovetail. Really the only reason to make them anymore is to cut them by hand for the beauty of it. That's what sucked me into making them. I never appreciated them for what they were doing them with a router. From my first joint cutting by hand it was an eye opening experience. Hand cut dovetails are a beautiful thing.

(and before you ask, yes, I can tell the difference at a glance ;) ) Try it sometime. It's awesome.
