I think our bear might be gone this morning :( The police set up some traps for him last night. Apparently on Tuesday he got into our walk-in briefly.

Our back door leads out to a narrow porch that runs the length of the building separated from the lawn by a 3' tall concrete wall. The walk-in is right outside the back door. The other baker took out the trash (walked past the walk-in, hopped the wall & went down to the dumpster). Just after he hopped the wall, he heard the walk-in door open & close, figuring it was the front kitchen staff putting stuff away. When he came back he started to hop over the wall & the bear was crouched down, facing away from him between the wall & the walk-in. He jumped over the bear & bolted inside. The bear took off. Apparently the bear was in the walk-in & got spooked when the other baker came out with the trash. The door opening was the bear coming out. It sounded like he was only in there for a second, so he didn't get into anything. The police set up the trap last night while I was working, down between the dumpster & the porch wall.

Sadly he'll be euthanised if they catch him. Poor Yogi.

Should of had fish and game trap him. They relocate nuisance bears.

You are very welcome Bo. They can relocate bears used to people too. They take them way up into the wilderness and release them.They sometimes retrain them to be afraid of people. In Yellowstone they do it once in awhile.

I got an Ikenbox too. Yipee!

There's only one place that I can think of to relocate them.

They cannot be relocated. Plus I know for a fact that Yellowstone does not (& never has) relocate problem bears. It sucks, but once they have that knowledge you can't take it away from them. You could move them 3 counties over & they'll be back next week.

On the plus side, they haven't caught anything yet. On the down side, it sounds like there's at least 2, if not 3, of them making the rounds.

Good morning Fran, J5 and everyone! Coffee is tasting sooo good right now.:)

In Yosemite and other parks in Cali the fine is up to $5000 if a black bear breaks into your car and they have to euthanize them. Not only for food, they break in for chapstick and sunscreen. Also ice chests even if they don't smell anything.

Wait...am I reading this right? WE get fined if a bear breaks into our car?:confused: How come, Wharf? This doesn't make any sense to me. Explain? Do I need another cuppa Jo?:unsure:

We have BEARS in Cali??

Wait. You call us CALI? Lee....... how could you! :lol:

Welp, that's it then. I'm moving to hmmmm..... Montana.

:lol::lol:
