Illinois Bill sb3174

Hi,
I live in Illinois and I recently found out about the bill (sb3174) that would ban the sell of Electronic Cigarettes in the state of Illinois. I was furious and still am. The bill has already been passed in the Senate 49-4. It is now in the House. They will reconvene on April 13th. I have already sent e-mails out to every Representative in Illinois ( except one that doesn't have an email address). That was 117 emails. I did get a response from about 5 or 6. I person didn't even know what Electronic Cigarettes were and thought they were being banned because of second hand smoke. I am afraid if Illinois does pass this that they will be voting on something they don't understand. What do these people think Electronic Cigarettes are? Illinois residents please write, call or email your state representative and tell them to vote no.

I personalty don't want to see ANY more states ban e-cigs because of misunderstandings and I'll email outside my own state just to tell my story. You have a link to the reps from your state so I can send a few an email?

I have saved all the email addresses in an excel spreadsheet. I'm not sure how to get it to you. Any ideas let me know.

I think I figured out how to attach a file. This is an Excel spreadsheet. This is a list of Illinois represenatives that you can send email to. Once you open it you will see email adresses in column L and M. They are supposed to be the same. I had to manually type in each address in column M.
I hope this works.

A Human Services Committee hearing on SB 3174 is scheduled for Apr 14, 2010, 9:00AM Stratton Building Room D-1 Springfield, IL. That is this WEDNESDAY. Even though the hearing is on the schedule, it must be actually called up by the main HR sponsor (Colvin) in order to occur. Hopefully, we will find out by Monday afternoon whether he intends to call it or not.

If he does intend to call it for a hearing on Wednesday, we really need Illinois residents to attend. I know this is incredibly short notice, but it just appeared on the schedule today. I cannot emphasize enough how important this hearing is.

Illinois residents, especially those who live near Springfield, are desperately needed to attend this hearing. Again, we're not certain the hearing actually will take place on Wednesday, but we need to be prepared for that possibility. I will post Monday to update everyone on the status of this.

Thank You for your information. I live about 1 - 1 1/2 hours from there. I can try and get off work on Wednesday. It is short notice. I normally am not into politics but this is something near and dear to me.

I managed to put the Excel spread sheet into a pdf document which is attached. I just couldn't get it all to fit on a normal page. I did number each person on pages 1-3 which should line up with pages 4-6 which is also numbered. Hopefully this will help and is not too confusing.

I'm thinking I might send out some snail mail too.

If this passes, it looks like I'll be doing something illegal for the first time in my life.
Because, I'm not planning on giving up vaping because some close-minded stuffy old guys got upset because they either didn't understand it or they're crying over lost tax revenue.

I live just across the river from Missouri and I was trying to figure out how I could use that to my advantage. I would hate to drag my family or friends into me doing something illegal. I'm sure they would except packages for me. Keep sending those emails maybe we will get thru to them.

Wednesday, 4/14, 9:00 a.m. Stratton Building, Room D-1. We will plan on meeting outside the building at 8:30 a.m.

The street address for the Stratton Building is 401 S. Spring, Springfield, IL 62706. Apparently, there are a few different Stratton Buildings out there, and this is the address provided by Rep. Jakobsson's office.

I wasn't able to get the day off so I won't be able to attend. Too much work and not enough people to do it. I sent out 117 emails and then sent out another email Sunday to the committee memebers. That is more than I normally stick my head out for. I just hope you have a good turn out and everything goes our way.
