That's the sad part. Yet a few people could write in complaining about something said or done on a tv or radio show and the fcc would be all over it..... Cigarettes give us money, as do nicotine patches and replacement therapies, so they're ok. Ecigs don't, so despite the fact they're safer than cigs, they are bad.
What does the "F" stand for in the quote above?
State's Rights allows a state to enact laws more stringent than federal laws. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively" [excerpted from the 10th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States]
The beauty of this is that the sword cuts both ways. Travel is (allegedly) unrestricted between states. V4L can pick up and toss their operation across the state lines any time they want, and for any or no reason at all, and Illinois can "go fish", losing those sales taxes, employment taxes, property taxes, etc etc.
When federal laws (largely unlawfully/unconstitutionally) are enacted, addressing the limitation is far more difficult. So let someone elses' state be stupid. Save your ire for when your state gets stupid - then fight it tooth and nail. The only real support we can offer residents of a state not our own is moral and/or financial.
Not disagreeing. But V4L's business will be interrupted, and there is cost to them moving. That's really what's irked me.
The problem is the government itself. Every part is corrupt at this point. The people we "vote" in have forgotten the point of the constitution (if they ever knew it all). They don't care about the people they represent, all they care about is how they're seen by the public and how much money they can get in kickbacks. Look at gun control laws. You control or prevent law abiding citizens from getting guns, but that doesn't stop guns from being on the street, only increases it. All the cities with toughest gun laws have the highest gun related crime rates. Prohibition is at the root of alot that is wrong with this country.

He sponsored the bill, it passed the senate 49/7 but failed to get heard in the house, and according to my local rep(Beaubian) it is likely he will, do so again in this year (2011).

He sponsored the bill, it passed the senate 49/7 but failed to get heard in the house, and according to my local rep(Beaubian) it is likely he will, do so again in this year (2011).

I wrote the ignorant pig. And was mostly nice, at least civil in my letter. Thing is, the federal court has for the third time said the e-cig is to be treated as a tobacco product, and a ban would be illegal. But they're above the law I guess. Land of the free? Pursuit of happiness? Free Market? Catch phrases used to indoctrinate school kids into being patriotic imbeciles. This attack to demonize the e-cig will work on those who don't know better. I've seen the propaganda machine at work all my life. Many are seeing it for the first time because they are directly being affected by it. Please keep us informed how to help protect the e-cig, list any organization, where to donate, anything relevant. I need to know. We need to organize and fight back, individually and as a group.
