Illinois Bill to prohibit sale of PV's

Is there any reason to show for that vote? Last minute questions, etc.? If so, the date/time would be some important info. Maybe some of us could make it.

Yes.....the most important reason of all....to be there and have your names noted in the record that you oppose this bill - in person. Each and every warm body that is IN that room, and who fills out a little form, will have their name read into the record as being there in opposition or support of this - that's what the little form is for.

There will be no opportunity for private citizens to speak at this next meeting, but your presence is still needed, for the reason stated above.

I'm certain that the ALA will have plenty of people brought along next week, with impressive titles, to offer their 'silent support' in approval of the bill - but we shot them out of the water today with our passion and our information.

This was a victory, but it's NOT over. Next week, the Health committee will vote to pass this to the house, or let it die in committee. So keep up with the phones, the faxes, and the emails. The more noise we make, and the more bodies who show up in Springfield next week, the better our chances of seeing this bill either re-written to block access to minors ONLY, or to see it die in entirety in committee.

Edit: and, before I go comatose from lack of sleep and too much windshield time - Gamuchi sent a lawyer along today to complicate matters. They are currently pursuing FDA approval for their brand of PV to be classed an NRT. THAT guy was a waste of carbon compounds........I wanted to wrap a thick layer of duct tape over his mouth. SHEESH!

Great job everybody! It's good to know that showing up and speaking up makes a difference. Thanks to those who made the trip on short notice!!

I wonder if it might be worthwhile for another round of letters, esp. to the committee members thanking them for taking the time to listen, and providing more information and links since it sounds like they are primed to listen.

Not to rain on anyone's parade but this statement was repeated today by one of our state reps in arguments against e-cigs.

As occurred with the Dr E. exchange, everyone should keep this in mind as we post here: both supporters AND detractors of ecigs read the ECF pages.

Hopefully, those currently opposed will learn much more here, and find many of the obvious reasons to support ecigs in the process. Anyone using Dr. Dean Edell's supportive quotes from the recent radio program? Good one-liners in there. And few typically oppose his common sense approach.

I was wondering who that Lawyer represented. I sure didn't want him representing me. All he seemed to do was muddy the waters. All in all it was a good day in Springfield.......we'll see what next week brings.

I'm with Global_Apathy, keeping an eye on Illinois!
Best wishes to all!

Hmmm, let's see, Gamucci. they're the ones with the $20 atomizer and the $25 battery..looks like a mini to me. NRT huh?
Vicks, so proud of you, great effort. Long drive for sure.
Did any of the emails do any good, for all the effort maybe not so much?
Keep us posted.

Great job guys!

I really hope this works.

I seriously don't understand how anyone in their right mind can try to basically tell us that we should be smoking cigarettes instead of vaping.

It's like allowing firearms to be legal and easily accessible for everyone but banning Nerf guns on the off chance that a suction cup could attach to your eye and pull it out.

Is there somewhere those of us that weren't there can check out a transcript of what happened?

Also, make sure you guys post information on next weeks meeting. Depending on a number of factors, I may be able to attend. I regret not being able make this last one.
