One issue you may see is the nominal voltage of an alkaline battery is 1.5v whereas most rechargeable are 1.2v iirc
True, but I suspect that alkalines have a substantially higher internal resistance (and thus sag under load) than good-quality NiMH rechargeables do.

Well, bad news. The rechargeables didn't fair much better in the battery life department. Better, but not to a degree that I would consider acceptable.

Also, had a lot of issues with the device not wanting to play well with my builds, often rejecting them for no apparent reason and giving a generic "error" blink... only to start writing again minutes later with no changes to the setup

So, in short:

-building for it is fiddly
-device can be a bit finicky in general when trying to pair with other atomizers
-battery life is subpar

This was a fun experiment, but unfortunately didn't yield the desired results. Perhaps the batpack paired with it's original tank would make for a decent "on the ropes" backup, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than that

Oh well!

I don't think you will find another user combing the two either. As you have found out, it's not really so workable.

Also I have never heard of the tank and don't even own a batpack although I could see its usefulness while vaping through a nuclear winter and whatnot. Better yet, the time period between the nuclear strike near enough to radiation sickness where like, you are going to get intensely ill, then die. Battery life wouldn't matter much then.

Oh, how grim I have become. My apologies and ah, thank you for your valiant experiment. It was creative I will give it that.

Grim is always welcome in my book! Lol

And while AA batteries would likely be more readily available in the nuclear winter (for the survivors, of course), I imagine a post apocalyptic existence would likely just put me back on the cancer sticks anyway. Just enjoy my last years without worrying about the health risks smoking provides... in a world with heavy pockets of radiation.

The point of this was more about having an ultra compact setup with potentially good battery life that was also "safer". And didn't require me to buy proprietary prebuilt coils, which I happen to loathe lol.

But in the size-to-battery life matrix, my ego batteries beat out that batpack by a mile while still being relatively compact

What? Get a stationary bike, rig a an automotive alternator to it, and use that to charge your 18650s! :w00t:

I have my doubts tobacco crops would thrive in nuclear winter.
Another good reason to stockpile nic - no need for a freezer in nuclear winter!

Those with large nic stockpiles will rule, overseeing hordes of nic-starved serfs pedaling away on Schwinn Varsitys, powering all those chargers and pass throughs.

And it will only go downhill from here.

While not a terrific idea for vapers, you should add a bunch of cartons of cigarettes to your apocalyptic nuclear winter stockpile. They'll certainly be of higher value than money.

I guess solar chargers during a nuclear winter won't be a great idea, huh?
