Just tried to sign up and filled in what appeared to be the required fields (red asterisk next to first name, last name, email address) and got an error saying missing required information wanting physical address. I had checked the state box for newsletters and the general member newsletter, but without physical address I could not sign up. Just not comfortable giving my physical address. Don't want real mail spam and don't really want personal information available for theft, demographics, or marketing opportunities if CASAA or anyone with access to member information decides to use it for that purpose.

It's a bit disingenuous to not have the asterisk next to required fields when clearly some fields have this, and are obviously required fields. I don't mind giving state and even city/zip. But physical address is a bit much. State and city/zip should be enough for demographics, which I understand would be important to an advocacy group. But really, no need to be able to Google satellite my head.

Maybe I'm missing something on the sign up form.

First of all, CASAA doesn't share info nor does it spam! Let's just make that clear. We don't have TIME to spam - especially snail mail, lol! ;)

Second, I just double checked in the admin area of the form and the only "required" fields are email, first name and last name. (We have to check a box next to the field in the form set-up for it to be "required" on the sign-up form and only those 3 have checked boxes.)

I also just did a "test" sign up (using my husband's email address) and it went through without requiring anything more than email/first name/last name.

Maybe give it another try and make sure you have all 3 fields filled in correctly?

I want to say 'thank you' to CASAA and it's staff, I got a Call to Action regarding a bill here in NM and the wealth of information - most importantly the notice of the bill itself and the list of important email addresses to contact in regards to the bill - is exactly why I joined and why everyone here should.

Maybe I was in the wrong area? I clicked a CASAA link on someone's sig and after trying to sign up using the 3 red asterisk required fields there was a red required field missing notice above the physical address box. I will try again, but I assure you it would not let me proceed without the physical address. Maybe the site was having an issue, I'll try again.

I just signed up. Your website allowed me to sign up this time, doing exactly what I did yesterday, but was allowed today. I'm glad it's fixed.

Just to be clear, I don't think the founding members of CASAA would purposely sell my information, which was why I said someone with access to my information. That could be many different people that have access to the site. I've been working in the computer industry for more than 20 years and you would be surprised at the way information is gathered by people well outside your immediate control (vendors, web admins, hosting services, foreign data scraping companies, etc.). This was not meant as a personal insult to CASAA, please don't take it that way. But for example, the signup page is not a secure area (not HTTPS, everything is transmitted form me to your webpage in plain text) and I have no idea the frequency of your newsletters, warnings, or whatever you send to members. I also have no idea if you send physical mail to members who list their address. And I did not find answers to these questions on your site, so at least for me caution is warranted. And now that I'm a member I will see the results of these questions and let you know if I think the level of contact between CASAA an myself is appropriate.

Long story short, I am now a member and fully support your efforts for the vaping community. Otherwise I would not have tried to sign up in the first place or come back to finish the registration process when the site was working correctly.

I do appreciate your response Kristin and hope you and all the CASAA members continue to have a positive effect for the vaping community.
