I think about half the people who replied to this thread didn't read the OP, but I do thank you for your support.

I should have worded the title, "After two weeks of vaping I'm considering a cigarette for a reason you wouldn't suspect" however that is way too long.

I'm going to clean my tank out and put in the highest VG juice I have and start looking for 100% VG juice online that I can get here quickly or perhaps some unflavored but I don't know where to look. Could someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.

Edit: I did take an antihistamine and am about to take a cool shower per someone's recommendation in the thread, I will post as soon as I figure more out.

Utsu, glad I ran across your post. I have a specialized skin sensitivity called Rosecea (something akin to it). The symptoms you describe are different than the typical however. But I've labored on and off with red hive like bumps (almost welts!) when I've already been experiencing skin sensitivity.. Had them for a brief time shortly after I quit 2 years ago (as I bumped down from 18 to 12mg). Nothing for quite some time until I approached the nominal so called addiction threshold at about 6mg. There I've encountered these symptoms repeatedly as I toggle above and below a previously held level.

Good news is…this too shall pass! :D

Yes, it can take a while for bumps to clear up even as the discomfort and sometimes itching may resolve in a few days. For cripes sake don't scratch! It can make this much worse. Whataver topical anti-itch OTC works would be the most benign approach. Sometimes just a good moistizer may provide relief or baby powder. I use antihistamines as a last resort.

Best I can surmise is possibly a sensitivity to PG. I normally vape 100VG or low PG. But all that goes out the window when I start really chuckin' vapor tho. I mention nic level as I did encounter thresholds when making drastic nic changes and was also feeling sensitive. Also exposure to other irritants can be compounding the problem. One big one for me is skin reaction to silica shards. It's when I've been doing a lot of rebuilding or handling of wicking materials and coils that I've had the worst outbreaks (chest and forearms). So careful very if you're feeling raw to wash hands, arms or hit the showers if silica's involved.

The bumps themselves may then just be a natural reaction of the body to clear contaminants possibly VG being distributed to the skin and with silica the shards themselves when they become impacted at the skin surface.

Don't give up or dwell on this. I agree with the earlier advice that if the symptoms become severe see your MD. However, in my experience with this although an unagreeable reaction it does seem to resolve quickly with some care and precaution.

Best of luck to you Utsu.

:)

p.s. On 100% VG I've found two rather universally appealing sites for tobacco (Johnson Creek) and others (The Vapor Room) for a quick start. Many excellent juice vendors that have the 100% opt on ECF.

Is it painful at all. I was thinking possible shingles.. They can break out anywhere on you body... hope you find the answer and wishing you well.

Goodness Bootie, hope not for him/her. But you're right. I think it's like 1 out of 4 adults have/get that at least once in their lifetime. I was shocked when I read that.

Good luck.

I have never had them, caring for my mother she had them.. Also a young man who worked at the same company I did, had them.. So I certainly hope this is not the case.

Howdy folks, I hope everyone is well.

I quit smoking about two and a half weeks ago and started vaping exclusively on 20pg/80vg and 18mg juice. Other than the occasional dry mouth and feeling flu-like for two to three days it was a fairly easy transition. I have no known allergies, except maybe dogs and cats that shed and the occasional sneeze when things are blooming in spring. I'm not allergic to any foods that I know of, which brings me to my next point.

I've had no PG allergy symptoms for over two weeks, no headache, sore throat, nothing, not one symptom of what you would see if you googled a list of PG allergy symptoms. However two days ago, maybe three, I started getting bug bite like bumps on my shoulder/neck area. There's about three on the lower right side of my neck/shoulder area and they look like gnarly, raised bug bites and they sting/itch. There are a few smaller ones on the lower left part of my neck and shoulders as well, they sort of came out of nowhere. I fear I'm going to have to go back to smoking cigarettes, I've had over half a pack that sitting in a drawer from when I quit.

I just feel really discouraged, everything was going so well not smoking and now I have these burning red bumps that I assume are hives, which I've never had before ever. I'm truly considering going and lighting one up. Sorry that this thread turned into more of a rant, I just had to say it to someone. Thanks for reading.

They sound like bug bites to me. I had hives once, reaction to penicillin, and there was no "raising"... just itchy bits ALL OVER MY ENTIRE BODY... that's how hives works. It's not just in one or two places.

ahhhh the symptoms of quitting smoking... ( not vaping) your body has seen an opportunity to rid its self of all the nastiness that has accumilated in your system... it has said "ohh look a chance to get rid of this ****" and it has begun... exuding all of the stuff thru the pores and elsewhere... it will go away in about 2 weeks... I had a serious rash on my back and OMG it itched like poison Ivy ( altho Ive never had poison Ivy but my ex had it several times and I saw her plight)... your sense of smell will increase and the world really stinks too... food will taste better ( even fast food hamburgers) and eventually the coughing will subside too ( thats the part I really was impressed with... no more weezing/coughing) you might experience some rather weird dreams, some disconcerting, some rather awesome... but unfortunately that dissapates too... I had dreams so real that were hard to tell if they were dreams or reality/memories... the detail was incredible...

I am sure that everyone here has given excellent advice and I apologize in advance for not reading it all. I saw your post and wanted to respond (while not having much time to do so)

So, who ever told you that:
1) this is normal
2) There are other things that are addictive in cigs besides nic
3) If you smoke it will probably taste gross and help you keep vaping
4) Smoking isn't the end of the world once or twice or as often as needed as long as you keep at it with the determined goal to wean yourself off of cigs and...
5) Every cigarette you avoid is just all that more harm you avoided too. The more you vape the less you are smoking.

I agree with them...^^^^

Welcome, hang in there and keep on fighting!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

Thank you for all of the solid information and well-wishing I really appreciate it. I did get really frustrated this afternoon and almost had a cig but calmed myself down and had a vape. I'm really hoping a spider just got trapped in my shirt collar and freaked out and bit me a few times as they do indeed look like bug bites, just not ones I've ever had, but again there are weird biting critters out there.

I definitely don't think it's bed bugs as my mattress is only a couple of months old and I was sheets frequently.

I just thought it would be best to post this here because through internet searches I didn't really find anything PG allergy related that matched my symptoms. I figured if anyone had heard of something like this, it'd be you guys.

You all have eased my worries and I'll just keep a close eye on them to see if they worsen because if they do it surely isn't insect bites. I'm my own walking science experiment. :)

Thank you all again for your helpful insight. :toast:

Do a google search for "quit zits." It's common for some smokers to develop them after quitting. I was a pack a day smoker for 23 years. About 3-4 weeks after I quit smoking and started vaping, I developed bumps on my face that were rather large and sore to the touch. I never had bad acne growing up so this puzzled me. Of course I first thought that vaping was causing it and began researching it online. I found that many people experience this after quitting cigs. As someone mentioned already if I recall, your body is trying to purge itself of the toxins from the cigs. I was desperate to stay off cigs so I dealt with it the best I could. For me, the bumps continued for around 3-4 months and then went away on their own. I didn't change my PG/VG ratios and kept right on vaping. Now 13 months later and I'm still off the cigs and haven't seen any bumps in 7-8 months. Hang in there, it does get better.

Quit zits. Forgot about that. LOL And a good description…large bumps, tender to the touch which resemble acne. No puss however; a clear discharge if pores seep. My MD thought normal reaction with body trying to purge extraneous matter in the bloodstream. I think that you're exactly right — it's the body beginning to detoxify. Whether it's the sudden flood of VG, PG both or a more complex reaction it's an uncomfortable but welcome nuisance.

Things I found helped were dropping my nic slightly. A change of VG source made a def difference. Being careful with irritants when my skin was sensitized (synthetic wicking). At times, not vaping as much. These helped mitigate the symptoms somewhat and/or accelerate diminishing inflammation (without adding even more stuff in the blood stream for the body to cope with).

Good luck all.

:)

After reading what a lot of VG is made from, I think far more vapers may be sensitive to it than PG. It's nuts... Nut allergies and sensitivities seem to be all the rage these days with the generation born after me...

Hey Steve. Ya know, makes no sense to me. You'd think with VG everywhere in just about everything we eat, smell and touch. Yet I ran into the heavy chest syndrome chasin' high vg DIY vapes with two different vg sources (most have no problems with). Ultimately I found a source that suited me. So yeah I agree with ya. Something for folks to consider…even if they never have.

Good luck all.
