I got the sort of free sample of 24 mg nicotine base from nude nicotine. I added a little to a juice that the flavor is too strong for me and now it's fine. I think my problem with a lot of juices is that I am just sensitive to flavors and if I diy I can dial down the flavors.
So time to get started. I've already read a lot and watched plenty of videos. I've decided to mix by weight. That just makes more sense to me in how I think and my sight limitations. I am going to go with the recommended American weigh scale.
I have researched prices and stuff on nicotine and pg/vg. I am just not exactly sure how much I want to buy at this point. A liter of nicotine and a gallon of the others seems like so much but it's cost effective.
I also want to use pipettesbut I'm not sure what size to buy. 5 ml seems reasonable. I have 60 ml syringes already and I can see those.
I already ordered 30 30 ml luer lock top bottles and all the fixings that go with them.
I have decided on Apple jacks, a vanilla cake or cream cake, chocolate mint and probably strawberry cheesecake for my first recipes. Maybe some pina colada because that's shake and vape. I haven't really looked up good recipes yet or messed with a calculator yet.
So that's where I am.
Btw, unflavored base tastes perfectly fine to me too.

I use glass bottles to mix into. I like the Boston Rounds with dropper caps. For PG and VG I use clear low density plastic condiment bottles to add PG and VG to the bottle on the scale. For nic I use one of the droppers from the bottles to add the nic. Flavors come in dropper tip bottles, so you can just add drops directly from the bottle.

The American Weight Scales LB-501 is a good scale to use. Others may have suggestions for what they use.

Watch this video for a good introduction and demonstration of how to mix on a scale.

In the beginning I mixed single flavor juices and I was able to measure everything I needed in the tube of a 25ml syringe. This worked well for me until I started mixing more complex flavors, I now use a variety of syringes of different volumes. I will be picking up a digital scale in the next month or so in order to try mixing by weight. Dont need it much sooner than that since Ive got about a months supply of "the good stuff" already mixed up!

Why do you prefer to mix in glass instead of the Boston rounds?

I would be interested in knowing why also. I find that trying to get finished ejuice out of a glass bottle is painfully slow(cannot squeeze to help to disburse contents) and messy when trying to fill any sort of tank whether it is a top filled tank or a bottom filled tank.
I am guessing you use RDA's and maybe you are a dripper?

I used to fill my tanks with unflavored from a 250 ml glass bottle. No problems.
I dislike dropper bottles more and more (too messy to refill). I ordered these and I like them:

Of course, for travel dropper bottles are better.

It's an easy pour into 60ml LDPE bottles with thin tips. I just mix into the glass Boston Rounds because I can view the tint as they steep. Testing a small amount with a syringe is an easy fill into a tank. Once it's ready they get poured into the LDPE bottles. I just don't care for the opaque plastic during steeping.

This is what I transfer the finished liquid into. The plastic bottle gets the label transferred from the glass bottle. I vape Kayfuns most of the time and the thin tip LDPE fits fine on most RTAs.

Thanks for the link, but I have tried those types also. I use a wide mouth 30ml ldpe boston round with luer lock caps. Screw a 14 gauge luer lock needle on that top and fill my tanks in 15 seconds or less. Replace the 14 gauge needle with a luer lock stopper and back into storage. Rinse the needle out, blow thru to remove water and dry. No mess and its quick and works for me.

I just received the Glas 100 ML Dropper bottle and filling a tank with that dropper is only messy if are not careful and are filling a 2ML tank with what is probably 4MLs in that glass dropper! :w00t:

I agree. Droppers don't fit most tank fill ports. A 5ml syringe with a 14ga needle works fine, but I use that only for testing to see if steeping has progressed enough to transfer to 60ml LDPE.

Isn't it great everyone uses what works best for them and we have options? No offense, but I have tried these smaller necked bottles and can't stand them. I dunno, maybe I am just messy but meh. I have no problem seeing through my bottles to check for tinting when steeping. Can see right through them. Thanks for sharing.

Here is an example of what I use.

The only tank I ever had a really hard time filling was the Rafale with the small round hole in the metal cap you must wind down to fill. After 2-3 fills I found the perfect way to fill it and no problems since. If something doesn't work I have to find the way to make it work. I guess it goes back to that old saying............. Never say never??

I have run into one or two of the LDPE bottles that had malformed tips and wouldn't seal on a Kayfun Lite Plus V2. I tossed them. The rest work fine. Needles are good, but I like the screw cap on the ones I pictured.

I like seeing the bubbles rise after I shake the glass during steeping and set it back onto the kitchen window sill!

Many will say exposing the e-Liquid to sunlight will destroy the nicotine as I have had some trying to tell me putting them under a desk lamp will do! Had to remind them my incandescent bulbs do not emit UV Rays.

Sorry, but I am unclear on which bottle you are referring to? The one I linked or the one that Alien Traveler linked?

You do know that sunlight degrades nic right? You are the first person that I have ever heard of that puts steeping ejuice in a window sill.

Those are what I use, but in the 100 ml size. I have plenty of smaller sizes if i need to carry a refill. They are great for Kayfuns.
