Im curious, are there many reg ohm builders out there or am I the only "dinosaur"?

I see so many posts about real low resistance vaping , sub ohms etc. I know what they about, more vapour etc. It seems to be the trend or maybe its a show of how powerful your set up is? I dont know about everyone, but I enjoy my set up so much.

I make my resistance at 2.2-2.4 on my Odysseus V2 on a Kicked Saber Touch set at 7.5 with a voltage output of 4.3. It seems great to me. Warm, but on the cool side. Big clouds, great taste etc.

Ive tried lower ohms and the heat changes my tobaccos way too much and I dont like the TH.

Am I in the minority? How many "cool' vapors out there?

When I use regulated voltage I wrap higher ohm coils, usually around 2-2.5 and pump up the voltage. I do this because I find more coil wraps to provide a better vape. However, now that I've gotten a mechanical mod (mainly for aesthetic reasons - I find the provari to be ugly and a 22mm atty on a 23mm tube is just enough to annoy me) I usually go for around 1.1 ohms which is still kind of high in today's trends.

I usualy wrap my coils at around 1.5 to 2.1 with my genesis type atomizer because I use VV mods on them. My drip which I always use my mechanical mods I wrap them at around 1.0 to 1.5. I use to wrap 0.8 for drips but I make sure I use vapesafe on my mechanical for I have grown attatch to my face and would hate to loose it

I see , like someone mentioned 1.7 - 1.0 used to be considered LR but nowadays it seems those are high. I use a kick on the sabers and I have one little Natural mech unkicked and it vapes great even w/o a kick and much better than using the KGO. I if anyone ever asked me what to start out with or what to do after a cig alike , Id recommend a nice mech like a natural , it hits harder even with the loss of voltage they supposedly have. I get tons of clouds with my Natural unkicked and LR boge in a tank and the taste is real close to my Odysseus, LOL, I said close:)

.......Ive tried lower ohms and the heat changes my tobaccos way too much and I dont like the TH. ......

I couldn't agree more. I'm at 5.7 watts at the moment with a diy ry4 mix. Scrumpdelicious, and I can vape my fool head off without even a hint of throat issues. I sometimes go up to about 8 watts for a peanut butter or a fruit mix but that's about it.

I think it's great that we have some choices now though. I'm amazed at some of the clouds produced by the low ohm coils.

Not alone at all it appears. I prefer around 2ohms and stick in the 7-7.5w range, haven't ventured higher since I don't totally trust my coil wrapping ability yet. This coil I wrapped last night seems to be doing great along with the wick so I may ramp it up just for kicks lol.

I prefer a cooler vape with the mainly fruit liquids I have. If I want warm (rare) the Vivi Nova with 1.8ohm coil does the job for me.

Same here, count me in the club :)

Usually I stay at circa 3 ohms with my rebuildables, appreciating both the cooler vapor - still plenty of it - and the longer duration of the batteries, due to less A draw [at the same W].

Higher temperatures would alter my loved fruity flavors, by the way...

I build coils for my vv and vw devices at 1.4Ω and above. With mechanicals, I'm at .9Ω.

I also prefer the not-so-SLR-vape. Just doesn't have that "zen, peaceful" vaping experience I've grown to enjoy. Rule62, I quoted your setups mainly bc I think we almost have exactly the same gear, unless u got rid of the cobra:(
Your using 30ga K, is that correct? That's what I use for VV and with 4/5 wrap come in at 1.3, but don't go crazy with the voltage. For mech, I use 28ga K and with that rba, I get ~1.0Ohm with 3/4 wrap. It's RSST, which I'm not crazy about at moment

Yep, I use the same. 30ga K on vv/vw mods. 28Ga on mechanicals. I do like the RSSTs though. I currently have 3 of them. All 3 are on mech mods.

I'd be in "Sometime you feel like a nut... Sometimes you don't" category.
For the ProVari, I try to keep my coils in the 1.2 to 1.6 ohm range and never use anything thicker than 30 awg wire (or .5mm ribbon).
For mechanicals I shoot for 0.5 to 0.8 ohms and will use 28 awg, .8mm ribbon or double strands of 30 awg.

That's not to say that I can't get an enjoyable vape from a mechanical above 1 ohm... I'm saying that I can get a better vape from the ProVari.

IMO... The difference between the two is like a race car and a luxury car. The luxury car has all the bells and whistles, nice and roomy, and is very comfortable to drive for long periods of time. The race car has no amenities, no A/C, no cup holders and has a suspension that will beat you to death... But it goes fast!

Most of the time I like the vape I get from the ProVari. I can turn the voltage up or down to suit my mood and I like getting a consistent vape from beginning to end.

Other times I want the vape that the ProVari just can't deliver and the only way to get a mechanical to outperform the ProVari is by going sub-ohm.

I see no need to put up with the discomfort of the race car unless I want to go faster than the top speed of my luxury car.

BTW... Not trying to be a ProVari fan boy... I just happen to have a couple and I know what they will and won't do (as opposed to other devices I don't have).
