Our friends on the other side of the pond have to deal with much higher costs than we do: at 10 UK pounds, it means that an atty is $16 US. So you might have to order in bulk from abroad. There is a cost associated with e cigs, but it is going to be a lot lower than the cost of an analog; e cigs are anything but plug and play
Attys are what they are: unpredictable and high maintenance. My best results have been with the Joyes, and these can be had for $5 each from PureSmoker for orders of 25; Ikenvape also sells them with a discount in packs of 5. The Greenhouseone and Eastmall attys were very short lived. There is a lot of rebranding going on, so I am not sure what TW or Liberty Flights sells.
Even packs of 5 Joyes won't get you very far. That's just the way it is.
You might want to try a rebuildable style such as the A2 from Bulli in Germany.
Kelly (aka Hairball) is a very knowledgeable lady, always willing to lend a helping hand, and a big fan of the new Liquinator Tank system in combination with the Boge Cartos (so am I). Cartos (Greenhouse One sells them for a $1 each). The only downer is that GH1 does not sell low resistance cartos yet. Stay away from the newer style Clearomizers; they crack, need a lot of tweaking, and have a harsh taste since the coil is so close to the mouthpiece.
I have a great dislike for the Riva/Tornado/Ego style self contained battery since they are expensive, will fail (as will all LiIon's after about 500-1000 recharge cycles), and have expensive accessories such as tanks, attys, etc. You can get good quality protected batteries from China (DealExtreme) for $3-$5 each vs $15-$25 for an Ego style.
There are plenty of inexpensive but decent quality tube mods: ePower, Indulgence, etc. with replaceable, large capacity batteries. You can also go high end with a Silver Bullet or a ProVari, but that is a VV mod. There are auto feed systems such as the Reo. There is a data base here on the site.
I will make a statement that might upset a lot of people: e cigs are not for everyone who is trying to quit. Ecigs require patience, some knowledge, time, and an investment. On the other hand, it was the only way for me to quit smoking after all those years in order to keep a promise to my daughter. That was the gift she wanted for getting her Master's.
