I had similar issues as you, but over the span of about a month when I first started vaping. I did not like the 510 atomizers at all the first time I tried them, they're hard to draw and finnicky. Tried a bunch of cartomizers that I didn't like much. As soon as I tried the Boge cartos I was set, have been for a year. I've tried lots of other cartos and even the eGo tanks since. I always come back to my Boge cartomizers. Just make sure you fill them completely on the first fill and refill before they dry out. Other than that, they should work perfectly for you. Easy to refill too, just throw a drip tip on there and drip into them. There's other methods to refill them too.

I'm still waiting for something better to come along, but haven't found anything yet. I've got some multi-coil cartos coming here shortly to try with a high power mod, but I doubt I'll use them full time. Just something to play with. The Boge cartos are really the best value for me. I bought a whole bunch of them super cheap. If I can get a hold of a Genesis tank, that might be better. But that's not a production system. Just something people make.

The Boge 2.0 carto's are fine and cheap, the Dual Coil clear Mega XL's cost about 2.25 cents each work fine just a little on the large size, the 510 XL Clearomizer's 2.4-2.6 ohm's get a little warm at 3.7 volts and I took out the plastic spacers so you can just drip and don't have to use a syringe to fill they cost around 11 dollars for a 5 pack, the Dual Coil 510 Mega carto's are good also and they cost about 11 dollars for a 5 pack.I do not sling, shake, boil or put any part of a PV in the oven, nothing against those that do all those cleaning things if they work for them that's great,to me its like a paper plate you use it and then its the trash can. Most of these carto's can be found at Madvapes..

Our friends on the other side of the pond have to deal with much higher costs than we do: at 10 UK pounds, it means that an atty is $16 US. So you might have to order in bulk from abroad. There is a cost associated with e cigs, but it is going to be a lot lower than the cost of an analog; e cigs are anything but plug and play

Attys are what they are: unpredictable and high maintenance. My best results have been with the Joyes, and these can be had for $5 each from PureSmoker for orders of 25; Ikenvape also sells them with a discount in packs of 5. The Greenhouseone and Eastmall attys were very short lived. There is a lot of rebranding going on, so I am not sure what TW or Liberty Flights sells.

Even packs of 5 Joyes won't get you very far. That's just the way it is.

You might want to try a rebuildable style such as the A2 from Bulli in Germany.

Kelly (aka Hairball) is a very knowledgeable lady, always willing to lend a helping hand, and a big fan of the new Liquinator Tank system in combination with the Boge Cartos (so am I). Cartos (Greenhouse One sells them for a $1 each). The only downer is that GH1 does not sell low resistance cartos yet. Stay away from the newer style Clearomizers; they crack, need a lot of tweaking, and have a harsh taste since the coil is so close to the mouthpiece.

I have a great dislike for the Riva/Tornado/Ego style self contained battery since they are expensive, will fail (as will all LiIon's after about 500-1000 recharge cycles), and have expensive accessories such as tanks, attys, etc. You can get good quality protected batteries from China (DealExtreme) for $3-$5 each vs $15-$25 for an Ego style.

There are plenty of inexpensive but decent quality tube mods: ePower, Indulgence, etc. with replaceable, large capacity batteries. You can also go high end with a Silver Bullet or a ProVari, but that is a VV mod. There are auto feed systems such as the Reo. There is a data base here on the site.

I will make a statement that might upset a lot of people: e cigs are not for everyone who is trying to quit. Ecigs require patience, some knowledge, time, and an investment. On the other hand, it was the only way for me to quit smoking after all those years in order to keep a promise to my daughter. That was the gift she wanted for getting her Master's.

Boge 2.0 ohm are very nice on a Riva 510. On my current variable voltage mod I run 22 - 24 ml of liquid through a 3.4 ohm carto before it's time to clean or toss.
The Riva was good, used it for 3 months, though I got tired of having to wiggle the center post up on the batteries (some cartos will push the post down a bit when you seat them, so they don't make proper charger contact -- just lift the post slightly with a small screwdriver or pin). The mod has a 901 connector, no center post issues.
Good luck!

I say if you can get the E-Power and dual-coil carts in UK go for it! I use that combo a lot. Also I just got in some IKV LR attys a few weeks ago and I've been using one of them when I want to drip. It hits great and still on the first one.

If you're even the least bit able to tinker you can make a 4.8v box mod very easily. Search for The Puck or similar. I made one based on The Puck but I used 4x AAA instead of the AA for a bit smaller size. 4.8v on a DC Carto is awesome! I made mine for less than $20US not counting the batteries.

I don't want you to give up. So at the risk of other people running distributors out of stock, I will tell you exactly what I have come to like.

Geniune JOYE 510 MANUAL batteries, geniune JOYE 510 cartos. Totally Wicked's premier range Doppio Espresso at 36 mg. Two 10 ml blunt end syringes--one for filling and one for sucking up excess juice.

Buy all parts in white. Then you can hold up the carto to a bright light and see the juice as it fills the carto. Use a small jewelers slot-headed screwdriver to pop off the caps and puncture the mouth-end fill hole. For each new carto, be sure to flood the atty on fill, then suck the excess juice out of all holes in the carto using one of the syringes.

If you choose extended life batts, buy at least three of them. If you want something that looks more like a cigarette, choose standard batts and buy at least five of them.

Buy a Kensington four-port wall outlet to 4-port USB charger. Initially buy at least two USB charging adapter chords for the 510 (three if you choose standard batts). You will have one or two extra ports for more 510's or for another make of ecig. You can buy the Kensington at amazon.com for less than $15, I think.

Carry at least three fully assembled, pre-filled 510's in your pants pocket (or purse if you are female).

If you want tobacco flavor, try Dekang Camel or Dekang USA Mix, again at 36 mg--I can tell you where to buy 36 mg If tobacco is your second flavor, you will need a third 10ml syringe.

It will be a little difficult getting the thick Doppio Espresso through the needle of the syringe. So the needle should be 18 gauge or larger. You can buy the syringes and blunt end needls also at amazon.com.

HTH,
Dave

I found the best way to fill the cartomizers is to use a syringe and fill from the bottom up. You don't need to wait for the juice to absorb throughout the wicking material. You can start vaping right away. Afterwards just keep adding several drops in the top of the carto to keep it wet.

Yep...this is what I do also.

thanks for all the info peeps, i've ordered 6x 2ohm boge and 6x 3ohm boge with some DV from libertyflights. i'll let you know how i get on. i understand that for some people vaping is quite a hobby, tinkering and modifying and cleaning and filling with syringes but really that isn't for me. i don't want it to take over my life, i just want an alternative to smoking. i have to admit, fiddling with syringes etc in public, even in front of my friends, is a little embarrassing... it makes the whole process look like something you might see a junkie doing in the city centre. i understand that the difference it minimal, after all i am a slave to nicotine just as a junkie is might be a slave to H, but i'd rather keep it under wraps as best as i can. hopefully i can pre-fill a few of these cartomisers at home and they'll last me a good days vaping with minimal fuss.

as for batteries and LR atomisers, when i said the batteries died i mean they died forever. something happened to them which meant they never engaged with any atomisers again despite being fully charged and emitting light when the button was pressed. for £15 per battery i don't want to risk the same fate again so i'll stick with minimum 2ohm atomisers/cartomisers from now on i think.

thanks all for the info, my order shipped today and i have high hopes for these boge carts.

I believe I've read somewhere on here that "sometimes" the center battery post on Riva batteries get pushed down into the unit too far and has to be pulled up. (or pried up, something like that)

It's never happened to mine, so I don't know much about it. Maybe some smart vet can chime in here. It could be that your batteries aren't dead, just need a little adjustment.

I am going to make a suggestion to you. I know a lot of people like the 510 batteries but i think you would a whole lot better off with a bigger battery like the 650 or the 1000 mah batteries. They last a heck of a lot longer and i think produce a better th and more vapor if you are going to use carto;s or atty's i would go with the Boge 2,0. Another option would be the tank which some people don't like but I have never had an issue with the ego-T. One more option you might consider is a mod I really didn't think I would like them that much until I got my reo. I really love it. I would give Totally wicked another try You may have just happened to have gotten a bad one. I have ordered from them several times for my hardware and have never had an issue. Another place to look is Cignot I don't know if they ship oversees but they have top quality products. another two suppliers who carry good products is Madvpaes I think they ship oversees and you may check out Ikenvape. I am not sure about shipping with their products either but I know Isaac cariies some really great hardware I got my reo at reosmods and you may want to look at that as an option too

I totally relate to what you're saying about being uncomfortable in public with this stuff. I like to use a syringe on my cartomizers at home, but one of the great things about the Boge and similar cartos, in public I can simply drip into them with a dropper bottle to refill them. Can't get much more discrete than that and since I can get a good run off a fill, it's not something I have to do often like with dripping into an atomizer.

The ciggy size batteries are not even a consideration, but I'm not a big fan of the eGo batts either. Dont' know if the Riva batts are much better. Someone over stated the charge/discharge cycle life on those, it's more like 300, but I've had to replace them even sooner than that. Plus, I've had a lot of failures. The mods that use cell batteries are more reliable and are cheaper to own, but they're usually not as compact. It seems to be a trade-off, size for reliablity and lower cost of ownership.

I also agree that vaping is not for everyone. There is a certain amount of patience, willingness to tinker, and cost involved. I am one of those tinkerers and build my own mods so it's great for me, but I can definitely see how that can be a problem for some people.

Try a Bulli A2 atomiser or the Bulli A2-T. You won't need to bother with any of the disposeable bs again. I got so sick of trying all of the latest and greatest that just didn.t deliver. Now I can wind the coil to my favorite reistance, which takes less than 5 min. These vape great and to the last drop. Plus Cetin has outstanding customer service.

I use atomizers [Joye 510] exclusively and was killing them [and other types] within two weeks on average.

For me it was finding the right fluid. Since I have found what works for me I've doubled [and counting] the life of my attys.

Is individual habit related to the optimal liquid for all vapors???

Something to explore.
