A place some call paradise
So I've destroyed a few e cigs now, so I started a thread about rugged ones. Was directed here.

So this is where I'm at so far:
tank
https://www.cigtechs.com/mobile/product.asp?itemid=402

mod

ProVari Mini Satin Black Variable Voltage Electronic Cigarette

Thoughts from the vets? I'm looking to keep it short which is why I like the mini. I'm active army so I abuse these things. Was looking for super toughness in both the body and the tank.
So help a noob out and please give me whatever recommendations you got. Right now it seems that I have my whole set up under 7" which is awesome. It's gonna be in my pocket, I can't help that. It's in my hand half of the day though which doesn't make it much safer cause I've dropped them all at least once. I want to get into the rebuild able stuff later so I think I need to ohm reader right?

ProVari has an ohm reader (very accurate at that) built in, so no issues there... Won't fire much at all under 1 ohm, so if you're gonna go sub-ohm, I would recommend a mechanical at that stage of the game, along with some nice high drain high current handling batteries.

There IS a special black ProVari that costs a little bit more, but worth it for me especially for our soldiers in the field.

It's called the "Stealth Mini" and is sold exclusively by Vaporforce

http://vaporforce.pinnaclecart.com/standard-systems/provari-stealth-mini-version-2.5/

In addition to all the great things you have learned about the ProVari, the stealth version comes with a special triple coated black finish for extra durability in extreme conditions. The coating is also applied to the top and bottom caps, so the mod is black throughout. The button is opaque so the bright light can't shine through. The acrylic over the screen is smoked out, so it greatly subdues the brightness of the blue LED. Those features alone could come in awfully handy if you're battery is low and the light would be blinking away otherwise, in pitch black, with the binoculars of the enemy looking for you...

It should stand up better to drops, and generally harsh environments.

It's an extra $69, but I believe it's worth it...

Functionally it's the same as the Mini 2.5 you've been looking at, so if you don't mind the flashing lights and stainless top and bottom caps, then the Mini is going to do you well.

Both of them are going to stand up well, I just believe the black finish of the stealth will hold up better to sustained abuse.

That's my only recommendation... The Tatroe tank is great if you like ProTank's

Oh, I think you would find that the ProVari is about the toughest Variable Voltage device on the market. It should have a mil spec associated with it, no kidding...

I can't really think of any other device currently on the market that has the proven ruggedness of a ProVari... Not one...

You will need to get batteries and a charger if you don't have them already...

If that is the tank you want, (the tatroe tank) you will also need the base plate, a drip tip, and a pack of KangerTech ProTank/Evod coils.

That's going to be one tough tank. Nice, thick stainless steel construction on par with the ProVari.

The only weak point on these things is the 510 connection where the ProVari mates up with the tank... With the Tatroe tank and base plate, you should be good to go, and relatively leak free

I'm a bit different in my take on things. The Stealth is great, and the finish supposedly extra durable, but the cerakote on the regular colored ProVaris is very durable too. I'm not aware of any Stealths that have been used for a considerable length of time, so it's unknown if they will really show significantly less wear.

Regardless what color or coating one gets, I think I sleeve would be a good idea, since if offers both protection and portability. For a first ProVari to be used as the primary device, I would skip the Stealth, get a regular ProVari in the color/LED combo you like and use cost difference to get a sleeve and/or extension caps, bases, rings, etc.

Darkgear, go with Serenity if you want it some time this century... I got a Parish Leather holder for mine and it took me two months to get it from Russia. It does look cool, but took a long time...
You might want to consider Vegas Bindery (I believe that's the name).. If you haven't already.

From my experience I'm a firefighter both of my Provari's have taken a beating on a daily basis only had one problem when one droped from 138 feet in the air sent it in to provape and it got fixed you will hear alot of provari hate on ECF the provari is a solid unit and you can't beat customer service

It didn't survive a 138' fall? They must be junk then!

Some parts of this forum are really strange (go figure). I don't dare mention the word Provari in some threads. I like my PV, have never said a poor word about any other mod's, but I must be a fan boy for liking what I have & automatically 'looking down on others' - which I suppose you could do from 138' up, but I prefer to stay a little closer to the ground, in both senses.

What kind of tank is that on there? It looks like its streamlined all the way to the tip. Is that the case (tank same diameter as the provari)?

After having mine for a little less than a day, I'm calling it the LeakTank2. The kit's worth it, but I would highly suggest getting another tank as well. Or buying a lot of paper towels.
