I say get one and once its in your hands see what improvements you can come up with. I'd suggest a new one or see if Rob has any Blems not listed. After you get your feet wet with a new, working one then you can dive into Classifieds. Rob sells extra Door magnets on the site and he might even drill a door for you at both ends if you ask him. I can tell you did some homework if you noticed there'd be no magnets if flipped. I look at everything I own with an eye toward improving it. My Reo's included. I replaced the firing pin on my 2.1 with a brass one. It works but there isn't enough gain (if any) to warrant the effort. It was a slow day at work and did pass the time. Now I'm looking at my Reo's with an eye towards modification rather than improvement. I'm going to be attempting some of them soon, mainly cosmetics. Here is a video of some mods a guy did on his, for me I wouldn't consider them improvements but they probably are for him.
Reo Grand Modifications - YouTube

It looks like the springs are compressed on that video with the stacked batteries. I do not know for sure, but if that is so, please for your own safety, do not attempt. The spring is the only safety device on the Reo. It is designed to drop the battery down in the event of over heating of the battery. When you compress the spring with your batteries, it will not terminate the connection in the event of a short. This can result in the need for some costly face reconstruction surgery, or funeral expenses.

I don't know who videod two CR123s in a Grand first, this guy or Grimm Green. The latter lost what little credibility he had left with me when I saw that with the hot spring crushed.

I haven't read the entire thread yet so if I am repeating please forgive me!!

I am 1 of those girls that rarely ever carries a purse. I stick most everything in my back pocket or camera bag if I am out shooting somewhere. I've never accidentally squonked the juice bottle. The firing button has a lock so that won't fire accidentally either if it's engaged which I never do either.
Workmanship is the best I've seen. I've dropped it MANY times and it didn't hurt it a bit. I have a couple of tiny scratches from it hitting the pavement but it doesn't affect how it works at all and it took me days to even notice the marks.
The ONLY leakage I have is out of the airhole from ME over squonking NOT from the workmanship.
When i had my zmax with carto tanks I had ZERO feedback or help from the maker, warranty was crap, and I was spending close to $2 or more a day on carto' s, now I spend maybe 5 cents a day rebuilding my RM2. And the flavor is the closest thing to perfection that I think I could get with vaping. Oh and Rob is fantastic!! He doesn't act like he thinks he's the .... although we all think he is, he responds to messages and helps when he can.
So with all that said only you can decide if it's for you or not but as far as me... I found vape nirvana so I have no need or desire to look elsewhere. :vapor:

Seriously, Matthew- you had a rough start, but have responded admirably to the compelling wonderfulness that is Reovil. Turlock ain't that far from Sacto. If you're ever in my neck of the woods and want to have a feel-good hands-on before shelling out hard-earned cash, lemme know. I also drive to San Jose a couple times a month, so I'm occasionally closer to your neck of the woods...

Nice to see Justice batters his grand in the same fashion i do! I was beginning to think i was the only person that actually used them rather than just looking at and polishing them.

Or we share the same black grand ;)

I'll join too. My black anodized is cosmetically beat up bad but functions great.

well, dang, i hate being left out. i guess now i'll just beat the living %$^& outta my black Grand...

Yah I have a few Reos that I really couldn't sell although they do still work just like new

But it's all i have used for about 7 months now, daily at work and at home. It has hit the floor more than Paris Hilton's underwear - i do take care of my others, but i like this one the best because it's the first one i ever bought.

And after that outlay, the rest is cheap - make your own juice - rebuild a few coils and buy a few batteries when they get old and you may even SAVE some money - you will compared to smoking.

My banner is a little misleading - but i totted up the numbers the other day, because i am approaching a year of not smoking and with HRH quitting at the same time i did, we've saved about $3k. Which is more an indictment of my reckless spending than anything else!
