I've had my e-cig since Monday, a 510. It's great and for the first day I didn't smoke at all. I didn't smoke the next day either, but that night my friend offered me a cig. I had been craving a real one, and I was imagining that it was going to taste amazing and sweet like I remembered. But after smoking the e-cig for 2 days, I found it to be quite flavorless, almost boring, and I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I also thought that I kind of missed the big vape clouds compared to my tiny cigarette drag.

Today I came home from work and e-cigged, but I still wanted a cigarette and again it just didn't taste as good as I remembered. It was just kind of bland, and the smoke felt awkward in my mouth for some reason.

I've just been e-cigging Vanilla flavor the rest of the day and I don't really feel like an analog cigarette at all now. Is this what people were talking about how you have to train your body to get used to a new form of nicotine intake?

I don't know about your closing question. But, I am anything but sad that cigarettes no longer appeal to me! :)

A lot of us, myself included, have lit up after a period of being smoke free ... only to discover we didn't have to worry about going back to cigarettes because of the imagined deprived pleasure vs. the reality of what cigarettes actually taste like.

Be happy! You've discovered a less harmful, more tasty, alternative. :)

Grinch, smoking is a habit and truthfully, vaping is a habit. Let's face it, when we smoked, we were inhaling the smoke from burning leaves. When we vape, we are inhaling, vanilla, chocolate, banana, peach, etc. flavors. I think our bodies are adjusting to the newer and safer habit of vaping, while letting go of the old habit of smoking. As we adjust, we begin to realize that what we thought was wonderful, is really disgusting.

I now find the smell and taste of cigarettes repulsive. That's how I quit smoking, I just couldn't stand the smell and taste of them anymore. That surprised me, I didn't expect that to happen. Seven months smoke free !!

Now, if we could only get the idiots who want to ban e-cigs understand that, we would be all set.

Yeah, I think you summed it up perfectly. That is what cigarettes actually taste like, and after you start tasting amazing vapor flavors, they just taste bland and kind of disappointing. Not to mention I'm literally getting stoned like a hookah session with this 24mg nicotine liquid, and the vanilla tastes great.

I wasn't really expecting it to work, but man, I don't even feel like smoking a tobacco cigarette.

If you're anything like me you'll quickly lose the desire for a tobacco cigarette. Right now you're probably stiil "programmed" to want one at trigger moments that are merely habit. Everyone's different but those programmed trigger moments passed rather quickly. After 11+ weeks I have no desire for a cigarette.

Word to the wise, it's not a good idea to say stoned and hookah, when referring to e-cigs. The antis (those who want to ban e-cigs), pick up on statements like that, even though it's not true, (yes, they snoop on this forum), as reasons to advocate the banning of e-cigs. As you explore the forum, you will understand better what is going on.

I'm sorry about that. If it makes it better, it's only because the nicotine is too high with the 26mg liquid that came with it. I've actually got an order in the mail for 5 more bottles of liquid in 12mg so that I can smoke it regularly.

I apologize again, I was just emphasizing how much it was satisfying my cravings as opposed to analog.

It's understandable Grinch, since you are a new member, no problem. You didn't know what is going on.

The 12 mg is a good idea, I vape 12 and 16 - 18 mg e-juice. If you find the 12 mg too light, just mix some of it with the 24 mg juice that you have, to dilute it.

Grinch...we have very simialr stories....Iwas ok with vaping, but felt like I was depriving myself of real smoke...untill I had a few real smokes. It was very dissappointing, I had been craving it, and it just wasnt what I remembered it being....just made me so much happier to have dropped them and pick up on vaping. I wont vape forever.....I have a goal of giving up the entire oral fixation all together, but I just couldnt drop the tobacco for even a full day before I started vaping....so, now, the first step has been taken successfully. Every other month, I will drop a level of nicotine, eventually to a zero nicotine......then, its all HABIT and not addiction. Should be easier to give up all together.

I've been sober for 8.5 years (booze and pain killers) and when i had a relapse once I realized what most sober people know once you're off the stuff you just can't go back and enjoy it the way you did before. Tastes awful and the high from alcohol and drugs just isn't the same... it's actually depressing rather than exciting.
With cigarettes, I have not had one since I've been vaping but I'll bet it's similar that you just have to move on and those cigarettes really are disgusting and taste awful.

I've had my Joye 510 for a couple days now, which came with the 24mg, and have also found that it's way too much nicotine to vape continuously. I should be getting the 16mg flavors I ordered in the next day or two. Hopefully that will help. In the meantime I'm just trying to pace myself a little bit better.

When you are stressed, the immediate reaction is to reach for a cigarette because that's what you've been doing for years to deal with stress. You probably have other triggers as well. (My trigger was being awake.)

When you find yourself reaching for one, instead of lighting up and being disappointed, try saying "Oh, yeah. I don't do that any more." and reach for your PV instead. The craving for the cigarette will pass in a puff or two because you are getting everything your addiction was demanding from your PV. After a couple of weeks, you'll reach for your PV automatically instead.

After almost 6 months I still occasionally get an urge to reach for a cig but it happens less than once a week and lasts for a couple of seconds.

I got to the point that I didn't want to lose my old trusty friend the box o newport 100's. This sounds to me how you might feel. Cigarettes were so ingrained into my being that I could not imagine not liking them. I used any excuse I could find for myself to smoke just to do it because it was a habit. I blamed the batteries , I blamed the juice and the atty's and cartos and then one day i liked the juice better then the cig taste and now here I am over a yr later and finally haven't smoked a cig in about 40 days or so. I still don't say I quit smoking , I just say I havent had one in xx days. This is only my mental game to keep me from having anxiety about my old friend being out of my life. I think about cigs very rarely now. When I do think of them , I remember the last one I had tasted so gross to me that I put it out halfway through.

Grinch, I am like you-- at times I crave that full blown cig but once I have it to me it is just down right nasty..... I end up craving my pv then.... I hate the smell of it, the after taste- just everything about it. I had to play around with my juice. I am a menthol person and I just could not find anything I liked on the market so I went to making my own and I can make it as strong or weak as I like it. I can also make the flavor strong too--- Keep with it and it will get easier

Don't worry, be happy.

Seriously though, this happened to me too. I haven't quite found my vaping groove, and my cigs started tasting very eh, so I've been a little sad too. I may have already smoked my last Parliament today at 4am.

That's awesome that you've been clean for that long - CONGRATS! I just hit my 2yr mark this week.

Ive been vaping for two weeks. The first two days i went vap happy and didnt want a real cig at all. Third day a guy at work shoved one in my face and i couldnt resist. First drag made my cough spit and gag it tasted like i licked an ash tray, i snapped the POS in half and tossed it, to much anger from the person who gave it to me. Since then i had maybe one or two drags when i was drunk but the nasty taste only got worse. So thats it, no more analogs!

Don't forget there are other things in cigs your body got used to having that it might 'miss' over and above nicotine; doesn't mean it NEEDS those things but thats what might be driving the craving feelings.
I don't really crave them any more but I do occaisionally WANT one, and its never what i remembered it feeling like. Too much coughing, bad smell, weird taste (its not a bad taste its just 'meh') and just not satisfying. I've never said to myself that cigs are 'banned' from my life either, if I really really must have one then I do but its never like it was so staying off them is a lot easier now.
I have to say that vaping now often makes me cough - I tend to inhale too hard a lot of times :)lol:) and Im also being more sensitive to TH (I need less of it) and although my nic tolerance seems to have levelled out I do find that low low or zero nic is satisfying the 'urge' a lot of times now.
Your experience will change the further away from cigarettes you travel - this is a good thing lol.
