When I started out, I started with a Volcano Inferno. It was great for the first month, then I started researching mods and wanted to take it a step further (I always like pushing the limits :)). I smoked Salem Silvers before I quit and I have not been able to find a juice that comes close to it, but mixing menthol (from vaporrenew.com) with different flavors was my trick to staying off analogs. If I was you I would try like a 13 dollar disposable and see what you think before you invest a lot of money. Here is a link to Volcano's disposables to see what you think ALL NEW - USA Made Volcano Disposables. I also know that madvapes also sells disposables also for 10 bucks, here is the link;MENTHOL 510 DISPOSABLE E-CIG KIT with Blue LED I now vape on a Maxi Roughstack V2 from MadVapes, I love the vape you get from a 3.7 Volt mod connected to a Low Res 1.7 Ohm atomizer.

i think it would definitely be worth a visit to a retail spot for some hands on if for no other reason than to have a sense of security in your investment. You do not need to buy from them.

You might also want to check a local mall for a vendor kiosk (you definitly should think twice before buying from them) but it is what finally got me to give vaping a shot. When I was in NJ at the local mall there was kiosk with 510 clones that they were allowing passers-by to sample. At that point I knew it was going to work for me.

I smoked (and still smoke 4-5 a day) Virginia Slims 120 Menthol. I quite frankly like the long slim look aesthetically and think the Virginia Slims menthol flavors are really excellent.

In terms of the right look, nothing quite that slim works well, but I have found that the V4L manual XL batteries (380 mAH, last all day) come in a variety of colors to match my outfits and are long enough that with a cartomizer are 140mm long, so the length gives the slim illusion. V4L doesn't sell a PCC (Personal Charging Case) that works with the XL batteries though, so got one from CigEasy. Three batteries and the PCC (which also holds six cartomizers) allow me to always keep two topped up and one handy!

Their Virginia Menthol cartomizers (and the same e-liquid) are a pretty good imitation of the real deal, but that particular liquid requires cleaning cartos (if you want to do that) between refillings.

In terms of other e-liquids, SmokeAnywhereForPennys has a Gem Slims Menthol and a Gem Slims Ultra Light Menthol flavor that are also a good match and put less wear on the cartomizers.

Either way, the V4L XL kit, one extra XL battery, a couple boxes of Virginia Menthol cartomizers and an 808-d1 XL PCC from CigEasy will have you all set. I prefer manual batteries with the V4L system.

The 510 platform is also good, and their 280mAH battery is long enough to give a sleek appearance. I got mine in black and we all know that black is slimming. There are many vendors for this. I actually prefer the 510-T platform with the 280mAH auto battery; and I fill the little tanks with the Gem Slims Menthol juice. (I have found the V4L Virginia Menthol juice doesn't taste as good in tank type systems as it does in cartomizers for some reason.)

For this system I have the Mega PCC, three mega auto batteries, two atomizers and then the cartridges and e-liquid.

Both the 808d-1 V4L system and the 510 system are inexpensive, easily maintained, and look just plain fashionable.

That makes sense I guess. The only thing is you can buy an actual pv for $20. I think it'd be worth the extra $10. You'd definitely get a better vape.

Actually, trying a disposable was what got me vaping. There was an offer here on the board for a free apollo and tried it and liked it. That is a great disposable.

You may be right as long as it's not one of those disposables that has a horrible draw. That might put people off vaping.

That is a good point swedishfish, some disposables are great and some aren't worth a dime. I had a bad experience back in 2008 when I first tried an NJoy e-cigg and went back to analogs. So you bring up a good point, we should find a known reliable cheap PV and post it with reviews so newcomers can be better informed. What do you think?

I went from a joye 510 which was good but short battery life and low capacity carts. Went to a Totally Wicked Tornado Tank which was great except it leaked juice like crazy, an unacceptable trait in my book. Then I found cartomizers - they are large capacity, don't leak, great taste and are in my book perfect. Coupled with an Ego battery, I can pop one spare carto in my pocket with a fully charged battery and I'm good for half a day.

MadVapes is a good vendor from my experience, good prices and service. They have a Ego carto kit here eGo Carto Kit With Carrying Case - I'm not affiliated with them.

Good luck.

I think it's a great idea. I loved the Appollo disposable, and everyone that tried it liked it too. And it hung in there forever.

It's pricey for a disposable but to me it's great and it got good reviews on the board. I'm tempted to buy a few just in case something happens to my pv or charger or something.

If you do to Cig2O's website it will tell you if you have a retailer nearby. (That was the best $17 I ever spent! I;m in Cincinnati, OH and it was a mom and pop store) Though I have heard that Remke stores are selling ecigs. Not sure how many State's Remke is in or what brande they are selling. If you are still wanting a starter kit, I think I saw a kr808d1 on here in the classifieds for like 20 or 25. I have discovered how much more cost effective it is buying stuff on here- especially when you are trying new flavors! I have to ammend what I said in my last comment- I do not know about the Virginia Slim MENTHOL but the Virgina Slim carts that I love are from myvaporstore. The ones I got from V4L I did not like at all!

I really don't suggest filling your own at first--it's a pita/hassle to learn at first and easy to do if you want later. Get some carts and see if you like the whole thing... like I post: if you throw your cigs away be prepared with extra batteries/juice/spare carts...

Like this:
1) 1 battery/charger... some carts ....
2) you like it! another battery/charger...
3) you want to wean off smokes
4) enough batteries/personal carrying cases to cover you
5) wean down with carts...off smokes...
6) then mix your own to save money... or buy other kits etc...
