rather than pulling the topcap off, twist it off. The o-rings are much friendlier to a spinning motion. Once the cap starts to move, then continue turning but pull up too. (I twist clockwise, so as not to dislodge the atty).

Oh! What a good idea! Thanks

I had a couple of loose thoughts gel up while I was out tapping threads into the bottoms of yer mods (bottom cap set screw).

I had thought about giving the BeCu a "hood" shape ( ← kin'a like that paranthesis right there, only sideways . . .. , and I quickly gave that a shot. Shaping it like that takes away some of the spring temper. So, I'm not going that route. This leads me more towards the other line of thinking what I was doing; which was to make the "button" area of the BeCu a rather small (pretty flat) disc shape and still leave the Sterling nub sprouting up from it; but to use that shape as the "landing plate" for a low profile button cap. That would be adhered to the button section of the switch.

I have a mild conundrum; because I think it would be very practical for the switch to not require a bunch of hours of labor. This because it should be a part that can be replaced without much hemming, hawing, headscratching. The more labor we/I invest into making the switch (button) all fancy, the more of an issue it's going to be. So, it kin'a has to look fancy (by being fancy), but not be labor intensive.

So, I'll need to add a part to the mix (button cap), that's more-or-less for-sure now, and I'll want it to be pretty; but not ridiculous to fabricate.

The other thought I had was to decorate the perimeter of the BeCu "button platform". I really like the look of the Sterling nub, and the color of the BeCu. If there were a way I could add a decorative frame, to sort of bring it all together and make it look more thick and purposeful (without hiding the part of it that I like) .. . .. that would be cool. (I can't involve much heat in this process, because, again, spring temper will suffer for it)

Some people might not care for that because they simply don't like guns.

Others might not care for that because they simply have no use for .40 Short & Weak.

I completed all the final shaping on the mods today. So, everybody is flushed out, exactly the shape they're going to be, and has seen the disc sander for the last time w/ a 320 grit departure. I'll get into the b-cap set screws and "deltas" tomorrow.

Pix or it never happened!

I do love you BTW GlassGal. I'm just a lazy vaper dummy!

Damsel, I wuv you too!

I was just agreeing with some of the others about a threaded nuppin... but Peter shot that down anyway :(.

So this here is SOOOOOOOOO totally roughed together. It's just a quick, slash-n'-dash, poke-in-the-eye, big sweeping gesture, ROUGH, dirty MOCKUP of where I was thinking of going with this. This particular material is off-fall from my Buckeye mod. I just took a stab at fabricating something this small and delicate. (in doing it tho, I've got a pretty good idea of how I'd really do it, to achieve nice results).

But I wanted to get it out there to see if this direction would be one for me to pursue a little further. I already intend to make the whole switch assembly LOWER PROFILE (← geeeeeeeeze, dibs, stop yelling already, would'ja?); so the whole assembly would be closer to the deck there (as much as is practical, the max amount that's still practical). The "button" and silver nub would be designed/sized to play nicely together (visually). The "hinge"/corner of the BeCu part, where it hits the top of it's rise and goes horizontal to slip under the button would be slimmed in (so you wouldn't see a corner there). The materials (with this method I'm devising) could be matching (using the same material for button as mod body), or it could be Ivory (that'd be pretty nice), or maybe even Ebony.

It feels very nice.
Very nice.
It also looks cool (in person and in my mind, where it is made nicely and everything is "of a piece") .. . . it floats there in an inviting way (i.e. Jetsons meets "push-me")

Although, looking at it in pics here, I'm really liking the Sterling nub being recessed. Not with that sharp shoulder on the inner button hole tho. I could relieve/soften/ease the edge of the hole, so it would kin'a sweep down towards the silver. That might be pretty sweet looking.

Minimum dimensions for the new mod design are 1 1/16" x 1 3/4" x 4".

the 1 3/4" dim is pretty dang tight. That would need to be the slimmest part of the block (not the fattest), and it would need to be pretty dang close to true square. (Burlsource is pretty good about such things)

I went ahead and grabbed it. I'm not clever enough to grab pictures before purchasing tho. I'll see if ol' homephibian can muster something. so . . . . btw: y'all know where this piece of wood is, and what it's for; but who it's for is YTBD (by y'all).

I did get this pic tho . . . . it's the 3rd one down, on the left.
