The past three weeks I've put in 120 hours at work and I've had no day off in those weeks, on top of college classes and a very understanding girlfriend who I love dearly. I'm too tired to even fall asleep and I need a tip to just... Sleep. She's sleeping now, but I am not.

Please send help.

Hi Crypto,

I'm not sure that this is the right place for a post like this. That said, you could try drinking a little alcohol, maybe a beer or a glass of wine, it has a sedative effect and works pretty well for me when I'm over tired.

3 shots of ketel one on 10 minutes puts me right to sleep. But I do not condone the use of alcohol. Lol.

I take 10mg Melatonin. Rarely have any trouble falling asleep. Last thing I remember thinking is I wonder how long it will take me to fall asleep. 'Cept when you get alittle older, like me, usually wake every couple of hours to wee wee. That done, it's back in bed and right back to sleep. I've been working Graveyard shift for seven years. JMHO

Cheers,

Try this simple breathing technique:

Focus on your breathing, relax your body. Gently inhale through your nose for a six count, gently hold for a 3 count, and then exhale for a six count. Do this 4 times.

Then do the same, but without the 3 count pause. In for 6, out for 6. Nice slow, gentle breaths.

In 8 breaths, you will have a nice balance of O2 in your blood, and focusing on the breathing will help your mind focus on something.

Everyone has slightly different lung capacity, depending on anatomy and if/how long you ever smoked... so if this is difficult, shorten the cycle, if you find that you aren't getting enough of a breath, then simply increase the duration. Just make sure you balance your inhale and exhale.

Also, I am sure you know, but I will reinforce that nicotine is a stimulant. If you must vape around the time you SHOULD be going to sleep, get yourself a nice 0mg juice in a mellow flavor.. say, earl grey tea, or honey vanilla.

Another trick that worked for me as a kid, and worked for my son as a kid... a mug of warm milk with honey... between the warm milk, the lack of stimulants and breathing technique, you should be off to dreamland in no time flat.

Or not. F&*#@ing insomnia has me too! It's 12:30 and I'm still posting tips on how to go to sleep.. who am I kidding???

I've been exhausted since my last vacation, in July. I've been on a 13 day on, 1 day off work schedule- with a steady amount of 12s mixed in, yet I have trouble sleeping. I usually vape some high nic to wind down after work (I work 2nd shift), catch up on some internet and DVR, then the wife drags me out of my vaperoom to bed.

120 hours of work in 3 weeks - that's a vacation!
Kidding - it's different when there's no day off, and school on top of it. Though I did average 105 hours a week for a couple years - sometimes it's not good to own the place.

Got a book? Get comfortable, so if you nod off, you can stay put - and read til you feel like closing your eyes.
I do sympathize - I often have trouble getting to sleep...'til it's late enough that I know I wont' be getting enough. Vicious cycle.
