Funny that you mentioned the nitecore charger as it was my second choice, I had read quite a few positive reviews on Flashlight forums and for $20 i still might grab one as a back up!!

yeah i'm just a recent newbie here but have been in the flashlight forums for years..CPF and now mainly BLF as the guys are a lot nicer and it's run more openly..

the nitecore is my go to charger..I got it and 3 panasonic 3100's when I grabbed my neutral thrunite tn30 off hkequipment..they had a wicked package deal..it's a great charger that terminates religiously at 4.18v..my trustfire 4 bank terminates from 4.2-4.24v..both are decent but for aroudn the same price the nitecore is in another league..

Yeah those flashlight forums go pretty deep on the testing of the chargers. I tried to pretend that i understood everything i was reading about charging algorithms etc, but mainly i just read the posts about why they liked a particular charger and what they were comparing it to.

I saw one thread that was like "whats good alternative charger to Pila"

Answer was "Nitecore Intellicharger V2"

and a whole list of +1, +1, +1, +1's to infinity. So I guess they must be on to something?

to be honest i've never really looked hard at the Pila chargers but never heard anything bad about them either..i'm pretty sure it'll give you years of service..

Here's the same charger on Super-T ... they definitely show that 18350s can be charged with spacers; they also sell the spacers.

Thanks Scott, but I ended up buying the Pila earlier today while I was at work. It's a shame that are web filters block everything with the word Cigarette or I would be on ECF all day and get no work done!!

That's cool ... you'll like the Pila, I'm sure! Just wanted to clarify about the 18350 spacer issue on the Xtar ...

Yeah I figured out later that it would, its just that the Canadian seller did not have any spacer's available, also for the price on super T's after shipping i would have bought the Pila anyway. I had my heart set on it and found a US seller who's shipping was $10 cheaper so it worked out ok in the end.

I've been using this one from Canvape for a year and it charges all my batteries no problem and no spacers ....the price is right too the Trust-fire TR-003P4 is design to charge at 500 mah for the small 16340 up to 18650 without overheating ...to me this units charges my 18650 in 2 hours and my 16340 in less , i would recommend this to anyone ...just my opinion and experience !!!! For $20 , can't go wrong !!

Trust Fire TR-003P4 4 BAY Lithium Ion Battery charger INDEPENDENT!!!

I don't think so and it isn't logical. Did you watch the videos?

I could be wrong but my understanding is once the battery is charged the pila drops down to a trickle charge. However that trickle charge is always on.

That is incorrect information on websites selling PILA. It does NOT trickle charge. I have the manual.

Strucus, I heard about the "humming" on the TR chargers.

yeah when it's cold (start of a charge) it is the weirdest sound..sounds like a digital mouse got caught in a trap..after warming up for about 5 minutes though it's barely audible..it's a decent charger but for the price the intellicharge is a much more reliable (and quieter) unit..

Does anyone use a Hobby King hobby charger? They seem to get raves on the RC and flashlight fora ...

I was thinking of getting one simply for the controlled discharge. I have some batteries I want to store.

it only has a 1a max discharge rate which kept me from buying it..same with the imax6..but if 1a is good enough for you then both are decent..

The 1A max discharge rate simply means it takes longer to discharge down to the standing voltage you specify, doesn't it? I don't really need it to be speedy, just accurate ... :)

yeah..I need it to check different discharge rate capacities for batteries..if you're simply discharging a battery then it's all good..

I picked up 2 Xtar WP2's. One for back up. It works awesome. I have left batteries charging overnight (accidently), and they still show no signs of overcharging. 4.19 volts even after all night charging. Takes about 2 1/2 hours to charge an 18650 AW IMR. My trustfire took almost 6 or 7 hours to charge the same battery and the battery would feel very warm after a charge.

Both were shipped to Canada for 50 bucks. They also include car chargers and now I don't need to use my inverter when charging on the go.
