In a sick kind of way do you hope the government bans vaping?

So you can break the law, your DIY box is now on par with a restricted substances lab, and you can be like Al Capone with the SWAT team at his door while he flushes the RY4 down the toilet.

Or would you rather the Nanny Government just get out of your life and start minding its own business, things like reducing the deficit and adopting pro job growth policies that would help your neighbors and community?

Yes, but in a twisted society would it not be better if people could not feel comfortable in their own skin, and that if FDA do gooders had more, not less, power to regulate their lives and monitor their well being and to give the courts the responsibility to throw people in cages anytime they tested positive for nicotine or they experienced a glucose rush from an XXL soft drink? Would it not be better if these vapers retreated to the attic where they could not be seen by the cameras?

Stop and look at what was availible pre 2007 and what has happened with e-cigs post 2007, and you will understand what the conserns are at this time. If they apply "Chapter 9" of the tobacco act to e-cigs the industry will take a huge hit.
One of the sections of Chapter 9 applies to flavors:

    a) In general
    (1) Special rules
    (A) Special rule for cigarettes
Beginning 3 months after June 22, 2009, a cigarette or any of its component parts (including the tobacco, filter, or paper) shall not contain, as a constituent (including a smoke constituent) or additive, an artificial or natural flavor (other than tobacco or menthol) or an herb or spice, including strawberry, grape, orange, clove, cinnamon, pineapple, vanilla, coconut, licorice, cocoa, chocolate, cherry, or coffee, that is a characterizing flavor of the tobacco product or tobacco smoke. Nothing in this subparagraph shall be construed to limit the Secretary’s authority to take action under this section or other sections of this chapter applicable to menthol or any artificial or natural flavor, herb, or spice not specified in this subparagraph.

What ya think of them apples (or lack of apple)
Tobacco or menthol, everything else comes off the shelf.

The question is what are you doing to stop these intrusions and assaults on your freedoms? Do you belong to any like minded activist groups in what you feel the Government is doing wrong? Do you spend any time each month trying to affect policies you do not like?
Do you wright your Congressmen, Senators, city officials and weigh in before then vote on stuff? Do you get your news from the TV or try to seek out several sources to get an informed all around picture of things? Whens the last time you've block walked, marched protested? The crooks have it very easy because most just want to complain they know they can do as they please with little or no repercussion.

So you can break the law, your DIY box is now on par with a .... lab, and you can be like Al Capone with the SWAT team at his door while he flushes the RY4 down the toilet.
I think this e-cig business was another unexpected development much like the internet, and they are not sure what to do about it.

They can't legally slap e-juicers about the same as hard core drug labs ... wrong order of magnitude. Nicotine consumption in the form of cigarettes or NRTs is legal, whereas .... and hard drugs aren't. I would imagine similar penalties would apply to DIY once regulated as manufacturing of liquor would.

Liquor is so cheap nowadays it's probably not worth distilling, but e-juice has a far better margin and is more easily made. When Gov'ts overtax, consumers find other avenues and are made into lawbreakers.

The most optimum situation of course would be to regulate it and not tax the living daylights out of it, but unfortunately that's never going to happen as long as Gov't spending is out of control.

No. Saw a cartoon depicting a clean cut guy intently looking at a globe. Caption was "Libertarians: Plotting to take over the world so they can leave you alone." Governments (Federal, State, Municipal) are intrusive enough as it is. Would be kinda nice if someone would just take over the world and leave people alone.
