tm---------they are either asiatic lilies or oriental lilies. If they have intense fragrance, more likely an oriental lily. Stargazer is a really common oriental lily you may have seen in flower arrangements. The orientals tend to have the main bloom later in the season (July-August rather than June-July) than the asiatics, too. Other than that they're hard to tell apart.

I used to grow them in Ohio, when the rabbits didn't trash them.

It's hard to tell. I googled asiatic & oriental lillies and they both look like mine as do the Easter lillies. They do bloom in July - Aug and the stalks grow 3' tall. Thanks for the info. I sure would like to know what they are. Like a dummy, I threw away the bag they came in that said what they were.

Those lillies are just flat out beautiful! I love the mixed colors. I wouldn't mind having a bed of mixed colors..I am afraid the bugs would like them too! My grandma always kept peppermint lillies.
The crinum ("cry-num" is related to the amaryllis, So not really a "Lily".
I would like a couple of these in my yard.

MK, love the "peppermint" lily.......I want that!!!!!

And ooooooooh - mint. I grow it in pots now too. I had a bunch in a bed on the side of the house that was bound by a sidewalk that I got rid of because of its aggressiveness. The lady before me was southern and loved her mint..... I still see a sprig come up between the other stuff every now and then!

I grow catnip..not sure why. My cats hated it. Anyway a neighbor cat can over and jumped up to get to the catnip (on top of a stand) and it went over and crashed into my sage..what a mess!
It's a cousin of a mint they are both from the order of Lamiales but come from different families. Think of them as uncle Ed's first wife's cousins!

I was just reading a few days ago that catnip is a natural mosquito repellent..i've never had cats and really had no idea that it was a plant lol.... I may have to get some and see if it works on my dogs..

Well now I feel really stupid! I thought you meant candy mints. You did say "mints". :(

i thought candy mints too

It could be because I can't actually grow mint. I can grow most invasive perennials pretty well, but not mint. go figure. I'm extra bummed about losing some wonderful chocolate mint that a friend gave me.
