The news station is reporting that New Haven County got 34 inches, which is 3 feet.
That would explain why my 8 foot flagpole is buried half way up. -____-
My front porch is buried in snow somehow, even though its a roofed porch.
Governor Malloy is upholding the ban on all small cars and non4x4 vehicles.
Fines for driving are being given out in all major cities including hartford & new haven.
My brother plows with his truck for a living and he is telling his friends NOT to drive.
No one with a car should be driving in CT right now, even if the roads seem plowed.
My brother has been out- He says its going to take into tomorrow to make roads safe.
Kids/teens in 4x4 trucks are stuck like ants on a glue trap ALL OVER our town.
The smaller landscaping businesses with the smaller trucks should not be out right now.
The state and commissioned bulldozer trucks need the roads clear to do the job.
This is not like a normal snowstorm and they can't have cars broken down & blocking them.
As our roads stand, your car WILL get stuck on the road. Your 4x4 truck could easily get stuck. and there is a ban on any vehicle that is not out for plowing/emergency assistance.

Ooh, got to have egg rolls. DW is Chinese, doing a bunch of dishes for New Year. Yesterday she whipped up a batch of super egg rolls
Cappy's ok, just no internet or tv, but he has electricity.....and lots of company! His sis of course, then a cousin, the cousins wife and two kids cuz their power's out. I guess he had to walk thru some 4 ft' snow drifts about 400 yds to see if the road was plowed so his relatives could come camp out with him.
Today a telephone message went out to everyone in my town.
They said to hang tight, they are still working on the streets where there are/have been emergencies.
They are trying to get oxygen to elderly homes and the firehouses and hospital and schools plowed.
So they apologize if the streets haven't been touched yet, but they are working as hard as they can.
They asked that if any citizen has the equipment to plow a street, they will reimburse them.
My brother was happy to hear that since he plowed our street yesterday already haha.
The news is saying that my town's roads might not be finished being plowed for the next 3 days or so.
Almost everyone I know has missed work for 3 days now. Friends are posting to fb saying bosses are very angry.
Managers and Bosses have actually verbally yelled at and faught with a few of my friends.
And my friends are completely helpless in the situation. The snow is above their cars, we cant get out.
My friend who lives at the top of my town's main street ventured out today.
He went down main street, 3 side roads, and my road. He got stuck 3 times, including turning onto my street.
We made the state news in my town a street over from mine. The story was about a whole street of families out in the road with nothing but shovels and one walk behind snow blower, all pitching in to finish a 1 way path. My mom walked up the street to take pictures of them as it was getting dark. and, well.. the pictures show... ehh.. they didn't get that far turns out.. lol. They are gonna be doing that for a while. My heart goes out to them. People are getting VERY angry over facebook about losing out on work and their bosses being angry. Meanwhile, a man that lives a street over walked down his road, snow up to his groin the whole way down his street, and asked us for baby formula. Thank god my brother had some. I wanted to post this to facebook to all those complaining. Yes it stinks that the entire town is going to be in lockdown for another 2-3 days but don't be complaining because you can't get to the club, a father is walking to the store in 4 feet of snow to get formula for his baby while you complain about not being able to get drunk flirt dance and go home!!
Maybe I can upload some pictures of this tomorrow. Some of you might not believe me. You will.

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry that some folks are being unreasonable. But I guarantee that there is more good happening within the streets of towns like yours that have been hit hard. We had a major snow event here about 17 years ago and we were snowed in for 4 days. The national guard had to come dig the city streets out. But we (neighbors) worked together to hike or ski to the stores and share our resources. Good on you for taking pictures and spreading the word. Keep the network going....it does great wonders for community building. 
shoveling my sidewalk was very hard this morning. Its more like shoveling 4 of my sidewalks.
You have to take the 1st layer off the top, chuck it. 2nd layer, chuck it, 3rd layer, chuck it, bottom, chuck it.
It took be about an hour and a half to shovel what normally takes me 20 or 30 minutes but it was fun.
The tunnel walls were up to the bottom of my neck/shoulders and I am around 5'3'' so that was funny.
My sidewalk now has a little tunnel to my driveway the width of my shovel and you only see my head pokin up lol.
Its supposed to hail later this morning, and then its turning into rain later this evening. That will be interesting.
They say a lot of roofs are going to cave in, we may lose power at this point, and trees will be falling down.
Last year a tree in my front yard fell down and crashed into our powerlines. And another tree fell into my moms rock garden. Took us 2 weeks to finish taking the trees out &clean up our yard. I HOPE IT WONT HAPPEN AGAIN!!!
And I hope I don't see pictures of my friends sheds crushed like soda cans like I did last year either.

Reading your post hits hard. I have been searching for news knowing people out there are snow bound in their homes. Your post just confirms what I imagined.
In our city when we get over 5 inches of snow the side streets are often neglected for the first 24-48 hours. Your massive snow and the blizzard conditions creating drifts, certainly would be much worse.
It is a time for people to pull together and get through. Unfortunately business owners can lose focus on more than making money.

My mother took out her phone just a minute too late to shoot a video of a big bobcat loader truck getting stuck. It was surreal to see that big machine literally rocking back and forth & rattling up and down as the tires slid, spitting back tons of snow. 3 cars are stuck and abandoned in the middle of the road on the street behind mine. The city said they cannot plow a road until the abandoned cars are moved. I'll keep updating. I'm pretty young, so this is all new to me. I'm really interested in what it looks like around here because I really can't remember anything like it. I've lived through a couple of the worst blizzards but we were always traveling south when they hit so we never stuck around long enough to see the end point. The plow guys on the news are still pleading with the people that abandoned their cars to at least call the city to coordinate a dig out. Its wild out there. All the sidewalks on my street are lined with 8ft banks of snow. the kids must love it. Winter wonderland. Downtown is overrun by snowmobilers in the streets. Normally when it snows really badly the quadders come out as well but I guess this snow is too soft/deep for quads. Will check back in.

I made it. I plow this god awful stuff. Gotta go back out and clean up some parking lots now. Me and my Reos are off to plow again, Have a good day all. Those of you that live in the south...I envy you. I need to move. I hate snow and winter.
Made it thru the storm here. Compared to some stories I've read I came out unscathed. Got the driveway plowed 2 times once at night ( thank god) and again in the morning. Wrap around deck, OMG had to do in layers. My arms feel like Popeye! My poor German Shepard Ziggy was almost constipated as he was not diggin taking a you know what when he had snow up his ....! 8-o had to clear him an area too. Good Luck to those still experiencing difficulities. Breath in. breath out, move on....!
