the streets are solid ice from the frozen rain. wednesday we're getting up to 6 inches of snow.
The ceiling above my mothers bed has developed a big brown spot above her pillows.
We're thinking that the dryer vent must have melted snow and flooded our attic.
Also, when my brother got home from plowing this morning, the garage door would not close.
Upon further inspection he realized that our roof and the frame to the door is sagging.
So he had to manually close it and rake some snow off of the roof.
We are hoping that the sag springs back.

To make things worse, and at risk of depressing anyone reading.....
The weather channel is predicting 6 more inches to fall come wednesday, AND...
Friday or Saturday, a big storm is rolling in and they are predicting a foot or more of new snow.
So.. this isn't over yet. Another two storms are rolling into my state.

Oh my! That is horrible news. I was wondering if the rain would just complicate stuff by turning to ice. Maybe they can get to your street before the Wed. storm hits.

Wish there was something we could do. Hope you still have power. At least that would make inside bearable.

(((((hugs)))))

Kay, I can't find any news that tells of people in those circumstances described. It is a shame that the smaller communities and citys are left to fend for themselves. Big cities are getting back to normal from what I see. I just wonder if even around there the suburbs are isolated and buried still.

It breaks my heart to know people are suffering, stranded and alone.

O.K. I found this: http://www.cityofnewhaven.com/

thanks for posting that nerak, interesting read.
I can't believe that a good amount of my friends are still stranded. This was a huge storm.
Our state has applied for and has been granted FEMA aid and we have nat. guard boots + trucks in the streets.
A lot of the city's in our state are doing well. The main streets are plowed.
Its the neighborhoods that need to be plowed now so that we can actually get to the main streets lol.
Right now the fog is so thick that we cannot see past our neighbor's yard. Visibility is about 30 feet.

Video of a LINE of buses all stuck were interesting this morning.
My brother says that the highways are still horrible.
Only 1 lane and some exits still haven't been plowed at all.
You could think your getting off at the next exit but when it comes up its packed with 3ft of snow.
Thats 1 of the things I think we really need to work on.

Don't feel too bad, I think we are doing well. My brother was nice enough to plow our road with his truck.
Two EMT workers that live up the street chipped in and bought him a 30 pack of beer.
They could finally get back to work and help save the city. A lot of heartwarming stories.
You always hear heartwarming stories when trouble arises out the the hurricanes and snowfall the past few years.

The news anchors have been having fun sliding across the streets to show the solid sheets of ice they've become.
Other towns, like ours, are experiencing a very fast warming period, which has the fog very thick.
A cool front is headed in and more snow wednesday into thursday night, then another snow storm on saturday.

My friends with children are going stir crazy. Its hard to stay in the house, especially for the kids.
But over all I think we are doing well now.
We are hoping my mother's ceiling will dry so we can just paint over the stain.
Our garage door is working again and our roof and garage door framing are no longer sagging.
Things are looking UP! For now! lol

We're quite used to snow Save, but this blizzard took us by storm ;)

So glad to hear it is improving for you and your neighbors. That makes me breathe a sigh of relief! Just wonder how many were stranded and not prepared for a long indoor stay.

I can believe the warming temps produce massive heavy fog. I have seen that here. Maybe it will improve enough before Wed so people can at least get out if needed.

I tried to find tv channels for that area with no luck! Guess I didn't look hard enough.

It is times like you are having that can bring out the best in some people. Glad you have had some heartwarming stories.

Please keep us updated even as things improve. I will keep you all in my prayers!

We had 35+ inches Save. The news is reporting the city plow trucks are getting stuck.
I just watched a whole segment on a National Guard's Humvee getting stuck on a New Haven street last night.
We definitely weren't prepared for 35.2 inches of snow. We are getting plow trucks from Michigan and Pennsylvania.
The 1st half of the storm was thick wet snow, the 2nd half was 40, 60, to 82mph wind blown & feathery.
So the streets of our biggest cities ended up with 3-4 feet of snow in some areas and we're having a lot of trouble.
This wasn't a normal CT Blizzard. This is the most snow we've seen since the 1970s I guess.

thats a good one nerak. sorry, I should of helped you look. duh!
you kept saying you were looking to no avail. idk where my mind is lol.
Ive been watching that station tonight, our governor is talking right now.
not sounding great. I do not want more snow.

I went back a page and read your posts. Saw you mention New Haven county. That is where I started! Then checked New Haven.

It is amazing that there is still so much area needed work done. People don't realize that the snow needs somewhere to go too! You can't just plow and let it go to the sides of the street. That much snow is a pain to haul away.

I am guessing there are still lots of little cities that are facing the same thing. But they are not making national news.

Holy crap. They need some Snogo's. I know it's serious when my city pulls those out. SNOGO Heavy Equipment Truck - YouTube
We have two of these as well. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exBrz5aQ9Hg

we did use the industrial snowblowers a bit but I believe my town had to rent them and we only had them saturday.
I've never seen one in person but my friend posted a status that one was on his street.
He said the one on his street had the augers in a V inverted pattern and it was very intimidating to watch lol.

Yeah, they are scary. I would hate to have my car burried in snow when one comes strolling by.
