Just got my MT RTA. Usually a pre-built coil man, but decided to go this way. Semi-wishing that I waited for a Mutank to come in stock but then I know I would just be lazy and use the pre-built heads. This is my first RTA. Anyone have any tips for building/wicking outside of really packing the channels with cotton?
Make sure your coil is as wide as the air hole, my first Clapton coil wasn't as wide and I got a lot of leaking. Like the juice was falling off the cotton and going down the airholes.

Vapordna has them, twisted and Clapton coil options too, might buy both
My local Vape shop is really good about getting new stuff asap and they have them already for $40.
I don't want to spend $5 a coil every other week when I can spend $15 on a roll of Clapton wire and a pack of cotton pads and build coils for 6 months in my rta and rda

That would be pretty cool. What is the cost of making your own Clapton wire per foot? I have no clue how much wire it takes but I'm sure it's a good bit for the outer wire

The ratio varies as the diameter of wires: (Base Wire Diameter x Pi) of the small wire per each (Wrap Wire Diameter) length of base wire. 28/32, the wrap is about 4.6 times the length of the base wire. I haven't yet calculated the cost. Substantially less than $9 for 15 feet, I feel sure.

What wire and mod are you using? There's quite a few pics in this thread.
Here is my build that I have been pulling on for a week.

Mine is presently set up at .3 ohms, 28ga parallels, 5/4 wrap on a 3.5mm mandrel, that currently being the largest mandrel I have. I am considering getting a 4mm drill bit to get more wick in it. In any event, it hits like a cannon.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. And thanks MMW for the link back in the thread, those pictures are extremely helpful. In response to your question about mod/wire:

The MT will be going on a DNA200 device. I use my Boxer DNA133 and Reuleaux the most. As far as wire, I have some spider silk titanium 26 gauge, but I wasn't able to get that going quite right on my Opus and Velocity as I am pretty much new to building so that wasn't the best place to start. I think I might just start this time with some 20 or 22 gauge (more likey the latter) kanthal to learn how to build first before trying to do NiFe or spaced titanium coils. At some point I may order some of the Youde clapton wire as well but I feel like the kanthal is a good place to start for me.

You're becoming an RTA ....! Nicely done sir! I'm waiting for your assessment of that crius clone. Is it the Griffin?

Haha yes I am. Will let ya know for sure. Hope the griffin is nice. Wicking on it looks like the mt just the wick holes do not go all the way through. But looks super easy

@haleysdadda are you sure that m2.5x4mm is the right size? these new screws are tiny compared to other grub screws i have for my derringer and freakshow mini rdas. I guess the only way to tell is by trying it out right? haha I was just waiting to finish my tank of juice before i did. Will post an update shortly.

Update: they fit like a charm and screw down nice and tight. HIGHLY recommend this to everyone with this RTA.

Looks like they fit! Kool! My only concern is the screws you bought are steel & may rust! Keep an eye on them!!
Pretty build! I love the way those screws look!:thumbs:

Was gonna order my mt today from vapordna but u guys got me wanting it MEOW. Gonna call around to vape shops within a 25 mile radius and see if I can pick one up today:)
I made the mistake of ordering it. The wait for vapemail was unusually painful. :) I'm vaping it now on my SX Mini.
