The juice can migrate down through the atty connector. Ive had it get into every adapter I have. I would try an alcohol bath if I was you before it might save you some down time. Also have you tried turning it back and forth a few times? Also check the screws on the spring in the cap and work it back and forth then tighten it. If it doesn't have a solid circuit going through it you get that fluctuating .

Yes, I have moved it around a lot, cleaned all the connectors, blew it out with some air. I have been playing with it for a few days hoping I could "will" it back to working. I am thinking I have had a problem for a while - I was whining about cartos not lasting a week or so ago but my 3.5 ohm ones doing ok - and I think I was just cooking the Fusions I had. I thought I had some isopropyl alcohol around here somewhere but I haven't come across it. I'll grab some tomorrow and give it a try.

.... Just saw your edit, I will Also check the screws on the spring in the cap and work it back and forth then tighten it

I have problems with fusions on there to but I guess the new ones are at 2.8 ohms or so I've heard.

The Fusions had worked pretty well, I would just turn it all the way down and then bump it up a little - and I was very happy with them. Then all of a sudden they were lasting less than a day and then a few days ago I was getting a burnt taste out of new cartos Fusions and IKV standard 808 Megas with the Infinity set to what should of been about 3.8V-4.0V, when I finally checked the Infinity was at 5.9V

G have you tried just turning the dial up and down several times? I know that sounds silly since you have been trying to get linear read on it, but there could be some pocket fodder or something in there...or maybe part of your branded skin?! :p An Alcohol spa treatment wouldn't hurt.

ETA: Opps I see that advice has already been given. For some reason the thread took me to the last post instead of the "last post read"

But you have a better way of explaining things Bo, easier to understand.

Good News :) I actually found a little alcohol so I dosed it well before I went to bed. I blew it out with some compressed air and let it sit for a while. It does still seem a bit "off" but it is greatly improved. I will pick up some more alcohol and give it a "proper" bath. I think that will do it.

Thanks for everyone's input! :)

Yay G!

The Pro series has a protective coating on the PCB to help avoid these problems :)

I just serves to remind me why I ended up here. First, all the tremendously cool and helpful people. :) And While other Mod makers are worrying about "digital bling" first and foremost, Mike thinks about buying great components and about sealing the PCB's to improve reliability(I think this should be mentioned as a selling point).

Glad you got it worked out G$ , ya give it a good bath and you should be OK !
these pots can get stuff in them so run the pot back and forth a few times to clear anything that might be in there.

I am about to head out and get some alcohol. I usually use Denatured Alcohol to clean electronic components. I can't remember - is isopropyl safer? What would you recommend?

Okay, I keep seeing people talking about giving their Infinitys and/or Buzzes alcohol baths. Not positive that would have helped mine since it just quit working altogether, but just in case of a future problem can I get a procedural description? Do I have to buy it a rubber duck? ;)

We do this when juice gets in the switch of PCB area this can cause them to come on so flushing them cleans out the juice .
remove the batts and soak it in 90% rubbing alcohol then blow it out and let it dry for several hours so the alcohol is gone . Shaking it in alcohol helps as well .

When my Buzz was acting up, I had poured alcohol into the tube a couple different times, but that didn't help much at all.
So then put the Buzz into a small "shot glass" - top cap down - and poured alcohol until it covered the button and left lt just like that overnight. Next morning I removed it from the glass, shook it out, wiped it down, and dried it with a hair dryer. The results = Buzz back to working 100% once again.:thumb:

If you feel a rubber duck is in order by all means buy it one.

Thanks guys, now I got it. I guess I just wasn't wrapping my mind around submerging anything with electronics in a liquid substance. :D Now I'm off to see if I can find a rubber duck small enough to fit in a shot glass with room to spare.

You are right about the liquid and elec. but the alcohol cuts the juice very well and it displaces the water thats in those tight little nooks and crannies. It also dries very much faster than water. Good luck on the duck hunt.
