Thanks Peaches. That settled that question! Are you trying to make a hole in the mouthpiece to inject through? I thought EDO meant he was inserting the needle through the hole in the mouthpiece you draw through, and making a hole in the cart. Either way, it's no problem pulling the mouthpiece off. I think I'm also going to just inject into the cart for refilling to slow the clogging, etc., and when they go just toss 'em. Thanks for the help:)

Thanks for the advice EDO. I drilled out the holes in one of my batts (1/16th inch bit) and aligned the trenches as you suggested but that didn't help. Then I put on a fresh cart and was amazed at how easy the draw was. The atty had slowly gotten clogged and I just didn't realize it. Duh.

The good thing is that with the larger holes the GC carts now work much better. Before I could barely screw the cart on enough to make good battery contact and got a lot of noise. Now I can adjust 'em just right and they're nice and smooth. Appreciate the help!

Side note: On the cart I took apart before ever using, it looked like the mystery hair wick was bent about 45° to center it in the tube. Now when I look in the ones I've pulled the carts out of the wick is completely against the side. Doesn't look like it would work as well over there, so I'm not going to pull them out anymore, just inject and see how it goes. Easier anyway.

Lotus....yeah that is what happens with the cartomizers.....and that is why I was telling people to throw their KR carts away after about 200 hits....since so much gunk would build up on the atos that you inevitably would burn the cart material.

I am glad the making the holes larger worked out for you.

And yes I went through the mouthpiece hole to make the hole in the cart using a cold needle. Then made the hole in the cart larger using my syringe. I definitely think it is the easiest and cleanest way to refill these...right through the mouth piece. I wonder if you are correct in that refilling the cart as opposed to refilling by dripping from the battery end will extend the life of the atos.

I would seem that if gunk building up is the cause of the problem, then dripping on the atty would make this happen faster. Letting the wick draw only what it needs is how they were designed. It should work better as long as you don't overfill the cart.

Of course that's just speculation - you'd have to do some serious comparisons with numerous carts to prove it one way or the other.

I think I'll just stick with the needle for awhile ;-)

Thanks again for your help.

Except..you can't really 'flood' the atty on these as easily..it will just drip excess down to the wick, the cart, or around the slot between cart and outer cartridge housing. Think about the orientations.

I don't think it makes much of a difference, the atty is now what 'wants' the fluid, it's just the wick/delivery system to the atty. Having said that, I wouldn't put a dozen drops in and engage the atty immediately, I'd wait a little bit..

Yeah....as long as we don't flood it and engage the atty I think we should be fine. I love these carts since it is very easy to fill from the battery end and even easier to refill with a needle from the mouthpiece. The hits are consistently good....taste is great specially with the original liquid. I think we can agree that you can get 400 hits off of them....before you have to throw it away. This was a really good find wegster....thanks.

Just FYI, I received an order from Drew today including a pack of Peach High cartomizers and the regular tobacco high cartomizers. I enjoy both on my 808 Nebula battery. I also bought a 10-pack of the greencig carts, but he sent 0 nic by mistake. Still, I thought I'd try them out.

The draw is much harder due to no holes or notches in the cart, but the vapor production is awesome. Problem is there is absolutely no throat hit at all with the 0 nic carts. I'm going to see if Drew will exchange them for the high nic carts i ordered, but if he can't, i'll just drip some Red Bull juice (from Vapornine) and see how they work.

The tool that was used in the video to remove the top cap and also melt the hole is found in the cookwares department. They are the "pins" used to close up a turkey or chicken:), you pierce the chicken skin and kind of sew it together with the pin or rod, whatever you want to call it. Should be able to easily find this at Wally World with the other cooking accessories, like spoons, basters, kitchen timers, etc.

just a quick update...I have gone through a few more carts and the last two only lasted a150-200 hits before the draw became very hard and the taste very poor. I opened up the cartomizer and took out the cart... to see why the draw was so hard. I noticed the cart material had become very dry and the end had slightly melted . When I cut off 1 mm from the end and poked holes in the cart material using a needle it seemed to make the draw easier....didn't do a thing about the poor taste.

How does someone send zero nic by mistake?

I'm sure he has a ton of orders to fill, and the boxes look very similar. Mistakes happen.

He's making up for it big time though. I talked to him this morning. not only is he letting me keep the zero-nic carts, but he's sending me the Western Tobacco ones free (those are $27 a box) AND he's sending me juices to re-fill the zero-nic carts. IMO, that is customer service way above and beyond what is normal.

Oh, and he sent me a cool little case with my order, free of charge. Drew is a wonderful supplier and he goes out of his way to please the customer. I'm very happy with that.

Wegster, when you say they start to taste "funky", can you describe that a little bit more? Also, can you guess-timate about how many refills you get before this starts to happen? I'm seriously considering buying the greencig setup(probably two sets or more, and from Drew since he seems to have excellent customer feedback and possibly throws in freebies) However, because of the high cost of carts, I need to be sure I can refill them a few times to make it cost effective compared to my other E-cigs. I'm still also a little apprehensive about the vapor production based on your video. Has it gotten any better with other/newer carts or possibly a fully charged battery?
    Thanks,
    Doug

    Hi Doug,

EDO can probably give a more accurate count, as I'm swapping around a bit right now, mostly between the 510, J118, and the GC on KR batteries. I don't like the GC battery cutoffs at all - seems to cut off exactly where you'd *start* to get good vapor and the start of throat hit. (GC batteries = 3 second cutoff, I'm assuming it's the same for the G220 batteries vs the G300 batteries, I only have the GC300 batteries).. Vapor production and throat hit is good on the GC carts on a 2 hole KR battery, and I've gotten at least 2-3x refills out of each. 'Tastes funky' = hard to describe, but basically, it's as I'd expect - over time, they atty does build up 'crud' on it, and the refills don't taste as good. However, I'm also using fairly highly flavored juices, with chocolate, as well as some from Walrus right now, which may impact the longevity.

So, sorry, I don't have an official count. If I could find one of those 'clickers' it'd be a *lot* easier!

Thanks for the info Wegster, also I was wondering, in the video review you did, you used an E9 battery. Did that fit perfectly, did it screw on all the way? Did it also have to be backed off a little to allow air intake and therefore gave you the adjustable draw option like the 808 batt? The E9 batt seemed to perform pretty well with the greencig cart.
    Thanks,
    Doug

I agree with Wegster completely you can refill these a few times (or you can drip)...but after the first 150 or so hits the draw becomes exceedingly harder and the taste deteriorates. I can go to about 400 hits before I have to throw them away. I find the original liquid taste good and when you add your own liquid it will initially taste good....but again after the first couple hundred hits...you notice the taste changing. The original juice doesn't last too long about 70 hits before you have to refill. I am using the KR808d batteries....I take 5 second hits. I don;t have the original batteries...but I definitely wouldn't use any batteries on these that have a short cutoff.

Is it safe to say that the Greencig is the best 2 piece cartomizer on the market now? It's confusing with so much information. I heard there were only a couple or a few that don't BURN. This one is a different setup in the cartomizer, seems like the first and only one like it? How does the Nebula contrast? Does the Nebula have the typical cartomizers that burn? Sorry if this post is out of place. It seems the 2 piece cartomizers are where E-cigs are headed in the future if they can just fix the problem of burning, ( ease of refilling ) and vapor production, including giving us a pcc - would be nice.

CartVapr, I think the answer to your question is yes. Though some people will say that their model does not burn, all other models besides the greencig are made the same way and have the potential to burn in my opinion.

Weg and Edo - I just got my greentech carts today from Drew. I should have the batts tomorrow. I'll let you guys know how it goes. I really hope these work well.

Well, right now, I would not say the Greencig is the best 2 piece. The carts are, and the PCC is *very* nice, but....the GC batteries have a 3 second cutoff, so most of us are using 2 hole KR808D-1 batteries with the Greencig carts instead.

Nebula = Zeus = Vapor King = KR808D-1. I've been told all those carts come from a single manufacturer, and it seems highly likely. It's essentially a 'second gen e9', and even then, not much 'second gen' about it, but good batteries (280mAh). The carts *will* all burn that I have seen to date, and others have corroborated. That isn't saying that burning then throwing out is better or worse for you than analogs, just..they will burn. Edo posted how he's dealt with them, refill from start, and how to top off,and when, which may extend the KR/* carts life before burning so you can taste it, but generally, they will still burn, and likely before you can taste it happening.

Bloog is claiming 'new cart design,' and once they're available, I'll have one of them as well, but umm, 'not high hopes.'

The GC cart is entirely different than the others, most like a regular e-cig cart and atty coil. They can be taken apart and refilled, or drip refilled, and I've yet to see indication of any burning, even manually powering the atty in a disassembled cart (atty wick was moist, but hit many times for 10 seconds each or so). So, tentatively, at least for me, I believe them to be much nicer and 'safer', until proven otherwise. The GC cart pricing, is another matter..now that you can get 10x KR/* carts for ~$10, 10x GC carts for $30 is seeming even more out of line...but I'd give a rough estimate of the GC carts at say 1 GC cart = 2 KR carts on average, reaching the point I'd chuck a KR cart out. Still a bit of $, so your call there. Drop the GC carts to $1 per cart, extend the battery cutoff on the GC (or use a KR short or long 2 hole battery), and we've got a very nice setup, especially with the GC PCC.

Ooh! :) I think you'll like them, but certainly let us know. They're not 'endless,' as the atty coil will encrust and start to taste different, but it's not from burning...I haven't yet been motivated to try to clean the atty on a GC cart, but may yet..

I do now have a clicker for counting number of hits off each, will play with this weekend..
