Researching what was actually out there as a "smoking" alternative - especially given a very horrible e-cig a friend gave me to help me cut-back from a 2 1/2 - 3 PAD (sometime 4) addiction & habit smoking cigarettes.

I could not say it any better than lolady has and like she mentioned in her first post, I too have been a heavy smoker (and still am) since the age of 14 (OH my 43 years). I am now up to 2 ½ to 3 packs a day (sometimes 4) and menthol to boot (I really liked Kool 100s Ultra Lights till they took them off the market). So for numerous reasons, mainly health (very similar to lolady), although I really do not want to, because I enjoy it too much I need to stop smoking analogs (hope I got that right). However, I find it very difficult and extremely hard to do so, especially given that I am emotionally, mentally, and physically addicted to smoking. Matter of fact, it is so bad for me that when I am going somewhere I cannot smoke I smoke even more before I get there (getting on a plane or going to a friends home who does not allow smoking is H*LL I do chain smoke & even wear a 21 mg nicotine patch just to try to get through it). Ive tried all the pills (big mistake for me), patches, gum, and lozenges they have not worked for me. I even tried a couple eCigs and one in particular that a friend sent me but it was horrible and no real menthol taste (to much like mint gum for me).

I was a smoker for 19+ years & quiet fed up with the habit. Was trying to quit for nearly a year but kept going back. Was on the lookout for a good & reliable alternative to help quit. A friend of mine introduced me to the e-cigarettes, he explained me the benefits of them and encouraged me to get one for myself.
Research is what brought me to ECF. Was going through lots of articles on e-cigarettes some good & recommending the use while many which were against it.
ECF had tons of articles with some very experienced vapers who wrote & always helped new beginners like me..
Loved it over here and am happy that I stumbled on the forum

I was alerted to ECF in 2011 by a friend who had bought one of those new-fangled ecigs (which I'd never heard of at that time !") So, I came here, joined up and the rest is history

I had been vaping for a few years before I joined in 2015 after shorting an over-rated Efest 18650 and nearly burned my house down. I wanted to warn people and ECF had been coming up in the majority of vaping related searches I had been doing and seemed like the best place to do so.
I ended up learning a lot of really useful information which helped me get the vape I wanted and then stayed to pay this information back.

I'd picked up vaping a couple months before joining ECF, like many stumbled on the site via the Google.

I joined ECF as a newbie vaper in August 2018, as I was looking to learn more about the kit, making DIY juice and generally everything to do with vaping and smoking cessation.
I've not quite managed to give up smoking totally, but am having considerable success cutting my habit down to negligible levels. Prior to August I was on 1.5 - 2 packs of tobacco per week, I'm now down to 2 packs per month. I'm hoping to go down to 1 pack per month in the New Year.

I smoked for over 30 years. I learned about vaping in 2014 and since then I am looking for something new for myself. Here is so I proved on this forum. I'm interested in hearing about vaping from others.
I joined just over 5 years ago and am 69 years old. I have no idea what my first post was!!! Just know that I always got a lot of helpful responses to my questions.

well it was a ling time ago..... like almost 7 years....but I believe it was about mixing juice & building my "Puck" mods.......I had been reading here for a few months (almost 6).... but didn't think I had anything to add, so I didn't join right away........ mostly research was all I was doing............ but I got tired of the ad's the kept popping up so I finally joined..... and I am so glad I did......

I joined not too long ago. I was advised by a friend who suggested to join because I wanted to just keep up and be in the know. The contests were also a plus and made the decision to join ECF easier. It's been great so far.
