Hi gang,

I could/should may be post this on one of the other threads but since many veterans look and post here..and the question is in regard to a newbie starting out, I thought this would be the place to ask the questions.

My wife has tried to vape using the system I purchased (and have successfully used) for a few times. Here are her symptoms.....tight chest, severe chest pains, anger, headache. Let me expound a bit.

She has not really substituted vaping for analog other than maybe 1 cig's worth at night before bed and one in the morning with a cup of coffee. I had her try a Johnson Creek VG based juice....she got severe chest pains. Ok, switched her to a PG, 18 mg nic brand....this morning again...severe chest pains...and lots of anger.

I don't know what to think of this. I thought maybe there may be reflux acid as an explanation but the anger side isn't equating. Is it possible she's allergic to juices? She really would like to quit...I would really like her to transfer from analog to vaping as I KNOW it would help her get rid of tobacco for good..as it has me.

I'm trying to figure out why such resistance whether or not it is physical, mental or both. Maybe some of you with similar experiences could chime in. I'm at a loss and am worried about her. She automatically reverts to analogs, then say's she'll just have to quit cold turkey...and we all KNOW that won't happen.

Thanks in advance.

American Spirit, Yellow, Light....about 1/2 pack per day maybe 3/4. The VG is 11 mg juice...that didn't agree with her...the other PG is 18 mg. She might not, as mentioned feel coerced...maybe not...hard to say. I do have Johnson Creek Sampler coming tomorrow with 10 different flavors....maybe I'll just have her take a puff on the various flaves I have going and see how she's inhaling...thanks!

FreeFire, if there is any way you can swing it and she hasn't had one recently, she should have a TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) test performed to see if she has hyper- (or hypo-) thyroidism. The disease really is extremely common. And of course it could be something else as well. It sounds like she needs to see a physician, especially with the chest pain.

Edit: Do be open with the doctor about vaping... knowing the whole story will help her/him determine what's going on.

When I first tried vaping in 2009, I had a heavy chest, sore lungs, sore tongue...NOT a good experience at ALL!

I had ordered a sampler pack from JC, and although some flavors were better than others (none were good), ALL caused me physical discomfort.

I had no success at switching to vaping until I tried a different vendor, and purchased 100% VG juice. MUCH BETTER results, but still smoked analogs along with vaping. These days, I'm finding that PG and VG both work very well for me, but JC juice still causes me physical problems, much like your wife has experienced. (I didn't get angry, but I sure wasn't happy.)

The 100% success for ME, came with better equipment and better juice. It took 2 years for me to figure it out, but I finally 'got it'!

My best suggestion would be to try juice from several different vendors, and go with somewhere around 60/40 PG/VG mix.

BTW - You can get some great buys, and find some quality juice in the ECF classifieds.

GOOD LUCK!

Somewhere out there
I would have her try pure VG no nic and no flavor and then try pure PG no nic no flavor. I found I cannot take high VG, it makes me feels horrible, heavy chest heartburn even sick feeling. I know more people react to PG, but for me PG is fine, it is that VG that I can't take at high levels. bnrk

Anger. Yes. Well,I have an allergy to a plethora of things. And one the the reaction I have that people dont seem to understand is Anger. This may be a unpopular response here, in this forum, but try nicotine lozenges. They are expensive but cheaper than lung cancer. I have made the switch from analogs to lozenges to e-cigs. And lozenges are a great.

The switch to lozenges could also be informative. If all the symptoms of anger and chest pain occur with the lozenges then it could be a thyroid or other endocrine issue that smoking is masking and unrelated to e-cigs. Personally I loved the lozenges. I lost quite a bit of weight when using them (simply, you can't eat while using one and you'll use them non-stop when you're hooked bad). The only thing I dont like about the lozenges is that they are expensive and they seem to make me want more nicotine. Interestingly, e-cigs caused me to reduce usage. - Good Luck

If its homemade VG juice with store-bought USP glycerin it may have been transported in containers which contained toxins your wife may have allergies to

No, these two flavors are direct from USA vendors who use high quality materials. Johnson Creek & Smokeless Smoking (MN company). VG from Johnson, PG from Smokeless.

Thanks for all your input. I'm thinking it may be a reaction that smoking has masked all these years and am of course concerned. Will let you know what we find out..hopefully something positive.
