Inserting the inner cart on the 401

Can't remember where, but I read this earlier on some website talking about topping off the 410. So I thought I'd ask about it. They were saying, after you've used a paperclip to push the inner cartridge high enough to top it off, that you use the atomizer to push it back down!!!

So does anyone use the atty to push down the juice cart after topping off? If not, then what do you use?

I did it that way too, but it was a pain.
The paperclip would slip off sometimes. So I made a cheap tool by snipping the end off a zip tie, which happened to be just the right width, so it's easier, but still kind of a pain. But using the atty to push it back in really is easier.

So I figured if people are doing this regularly, then that would mean, it won't mess up the atty's and is ok to do.

I don't do it like that , mainly because some of the inner carts are a tightish fit in the mouthpiece and i don't want to put any unnecesary pressure on that little atty bridge.

Thats why I'm asking, before I start doing.

So, do you use the paper clip to push it back down?

I find that the using the atty won't always push the cart back in all the way to the point where it bottoms out. This kind of messes up the airflow sometimes. So I stick with using the paperclip to push the cart back in.

I can't answer the original question because I don't take the inner cartridge out to top it off. I just squeeze five or six drops from the bottle or eye dropper right down the center of the mouth piece. It goes into the filler just the same that way as it would if the inner cartridge was popped out.

True, but after a while you need to completely remove it and dry it (and the mouthpiece) off. Plus, not everyone can be that accurate. Miss your mark and you'll get fluid in the mouth for sure.

Well, I don't want to put any added stress on my atty by using it to push in the cart. They're fragile enough as it is.
So I came up with a real easy way to get the cart all the way back into the mouth piece.
It uses the same paperclip that most of us are carrying anyway!


This is one of those med to big sized paperclips.
Use the paperclip to push the cartridge up to the top of the mouth piece, just like you always do. Add however many drops you use to top off.




The bend in the clip is the exactly the right size to push the cart back into the mouth piece.




Perfect size so it actually grips the cart, but can't slip in and smoosh the wick.





Paper clip fits so perfectly, just a tiny push, the cart will slide right in effortlessly. vape away.

the paperclip is definitely the way to go. If you use the atz to push in your cart you'll end up pushing the atty mesh / bridge into the chamber giving you a harder draw and juice leaking through the batty.

Using the paperclip method (either end), I found that it was possible (even likely) to push the cart too far down into the mouthpiece.

Using the atty (ignoring the stress aspect of using the atty itself), I found that the bridge could go into the cart and push the filler down and the inner cart itself would not be seated fully down within the mouthpiece.

Both methods frequently resulted in a decreased airflow and harder draw; so I repeat........

Use the plastic cart stopper.

This is always to hand and places the inner cart perfectly in the mouthpiece.

I have been using the atty to push the inner cart back in after filling. It seemed to me that filling up and leaving a bit of extra juice above the polyfill would be like dripping onto the atty. Does this seem incorrect? I'm getting good vapor this way and I also don't have any leakage coming through to the battery or out the bottom of the mouthpiece.

I'm still pretty inexperienced at vaping though, so correct me if I'm doing something wrong that could be harmful to my M401.

What I use is a simple stir stick that I bought a while back for use with another kind of vaporizer that I own. It's the perfect diameter for the holes in the carts, and stronger than a paper clip so it won't bend on you when you run into a tough cart to push. The edge of the stir stick is also thicker than a paper clip so it is much easier to use to push it down from the edge of the insert as you do with the paper clip.

The stir sticks I talk about can be found at Gotvape.com under accessories they have many different styles, I suggest you call to place your order rather than go with the web site price. The sales girl will give you a better price, I think I paid like $4 for it. Works perfect for this use and for it's original purpose.

These are wise words Snarkyone. I just learned my lesson about pushing down the cart with the atty like I said I was doing in a previous post. It died after a week of doing this and I compared it to a new one I have and the heating element that sticks out the top is pushed down. I'll try and take a pic later to show the difference.

I just squared the bends in the large paperclip. The large bend fits my NPRO, the small one fits my 401.
