I'm hardly an expert on vaping but I've tried to quit so many ways over the years, I think I understand.

- vaping IS the best way to get off and stay off cigarettes . !
- Just starting with CE3's I can see how it can get tedious. For now, I enjoy the vape so much, the filling is easy. I know it will wear off for me, and I will struggle to take the time it takes to prep them.
- Having higher nic juices handy make a big difference when I feel the urge. For me, 18. The rest of the time I use 12. I haven't tried 6 yet, but plan to on my next order. If you think the urge will be great, have some 24 handy.
- Also, Cartos are easy to fill... Have some handy just in case when you really don't want to make the effort. I haven't tried nano and x2 yet, so I can't make the suggestion.

You know yourself best... Plan for all contingencies, and you give yourself the best chance of success. In my case, every time I tried to quit before, the minute I made the decision I got the urge to smoke. Not having a cigarette in the house was enough to give me a panic attack. Even though I haven't had an analog in almost 3 weeks, and maybe 3 cigs even the week before... I still carry the remainder of a pack in my briefcase. I gave away most of my carton, but saved one unopened pack in a closet. For many, this is stupid. But for me, I know if I really really want one it's there. I just ask myself, how bad I want it, and I find that vaping is in some ways more pleasurable. YMMV. Good luck.

EDIT: In a very real way, this forum, and SI in particular is my support group. Better than AA and other similar support groups. We don't need to follow the script. I think everyone here knows how hard it is to quit, the frustration of being lectured to, and the fear to our health... We just don't have to talk about it all the time... which would get really annoying really fast for me.

SteveI - I totally know what you mean about panicking at giving up the cigs. That is why I am letting myself smoke if I want to and encouraging myself to vape first, give myself some space but if I really want a cig, I smoke ONE. Really, vaping is tastier than smoking and very satisfying so I think I will get my courage up again and try to quit totally when I am ready. In the mean time, I am smoking 40 or more LESS cigs than I used to and, frankly, that is a mini miracle.

Random Thoughts
- When I am with smokers, sometimes the smell makes me nauseous, others really makes me wanna have one.
- I get a little evil pleasure when I vape in a place where smoking is obviously prohibited. After years of being herded, and new laws requiring over 25 feet from entrances, heaters taken away, canopies taken away..... and other not so subtle insults to smokers, I LIKE VAPING in public!
- I had my last car for 10 years, always smoked in car, smelled potent, but never had a cig burn until about a year ago. The hole was about 1 sq inch, and really ...... me off. Long story short, I just bought myself an almost new car [still has new car smell]. I am happy to say it smells nice still, and hope to keep it that way.

Beginning of October, I promised myself ecigs was the answer, but I still bought a carton of cigarettes. I told myself that using the ecigs, I would make the carton last the whole month... After 2 weeks, I realized I cut down so much I ended up giving away 5 packs, and thought to myself, THIS IS EASY! My only regret is that good ecigs were not available 26 years ago!

I can't say for sure I'll never have another cig. However, I know this is the best shot I have. enough preaching. sorry.

I plan to get into DIY at some point, but I'm just going to buy some unflavored juice w/the nic already in it and add flavor to it. No way I'm messing w/pure nic, that stuff scares me.

That's what I did, from Wizard Labs Nicotine Extract top notch premixed liquid in every PG/VG combo. They just added 12mg premixed. I calculated that 500ml of 12 mg costs about 4¢ per ml or $1.20 per 30ml.

Last week I got in Capella flavors, and made great juices right away, Strawberries & cream, apple pie (amazingly accurate), chocolate fudge brownie, orange creamcicle, harvest berry and my own version of RY4. Plus my favorite, red hot cinnamon & menthol.

The learning curve isn't too hard, and nice to know I can mix up whatever I want without worrying about it being out of stock.

If you ever want any recipes I have made, just pm me.

That sounds great. I'd love to steal your recipes! That's very generous of you. Expect to hear from me soon.

I haven’t really fallen off the wagon. After about a month of being smoke free I did have 2 analogs one day, but jumped right back on the wagon.

When I took up vaping I had a full carton. I kept that carton in my garage and still have it there in my old “smoking station”. Occasionally I’ll sniff that nasty ashtray and wonder how I did that for 30 years. I’d hate to think how nasty those stale analogs are after baking in the summer heat, so if I ever get the urge they will be a good reminder of how bad they taste.

I’m still addicted to nicotine and recognize that, so while I started at 24mg and dropped to 18mg a few months later, I still keep it at 18 so I don’t get any urges.

As far as getting sick of maintenance on my CE3’s, I have enough going in rotation so that I only do a complete batch cleaning once a week and do a batch fill twice a week. I suggest you order enough supplies to get you through a week without having to mess with them so that they are filled and ready whenever you need them. I never worried about spending $$$ on analogs when I got low, so why worry about stocking up on carto’s, tanks and juice now???

And last but not least…NEVER beat yourself up if you slip. By now you know that you CAN quit and like vaping more than smoking, so just shrug it off and vape your favorite juice.

I appreciate all the comments, it does help. It isn't so much the money for me and I have 4 months of juice. The only thing that could die is the batteries but I have 5 of those.

I am sure that I will sort it out but I didn't have a plan to quit originally, it just happened so when I started smoking again; it was just disappointing. I still keep everything with me and I am only having a few a day which is better than smoking full time.

I didn't have any issues being around other smokers, I actually went outside with some and the cigarettes smelled nasty - was never a temptation to me at all..............Either way, thanks again for the comments and encouragement - I didn't expect to see 28 responses this morning.

Sitting down, facing forward.
My suggestion is to get a lot of CE3s so you don't have to clean them as often. I keep about 20 in use at any given time and use three different flavors in them. Yeah, I have to fill them twice a week but I only have to clean them once every two weeks. Playing with different flavors just means more CE3s and marking them in some way to keep everything straight.

I've come close to falling off the wagon. In fact I want a Marlboro right now. Instead I just put a strong tobacco flavor in an atty cartridge I made and killed the urge that way. Let me know, PM, if you want a converted cartridge, they work pretty good.

Maybe your nic level is not high enough. I have some 24mg that I keep for emergencies. For me, it's too strong for everyday and definitely not all day but when I use that level, I can go awhile between vapes. It keeps me satisfied for a longer period of time. Also, you might be tired of your favorite vapes. Try a different flavor that might sound good to you. Try Anything! Just don't beat yourself up!

I have a ce3 filled with 24mg. One puff puts me in lala land. I usually vape between 3 and 6. It does its trick though.

Usually, I find that vaping is actually more pleasurable than smoking. I am trying to drop nic as much as possible so I can vape MORE! Started with 24, have mostly 18 and 12 now... next order will be 12 and 6... If I could I would chain vape I think.

You are still a lot better than me, don't worry too much. I'm still smoking here and there, one in the morning two at night, I work night shift. I just tell myself at least I cut more than half of what I used to smoke and that is count. I also do have one CE3 fill with double of nicotine of what I usually vape just in case I need some kick.

To clean / fill CE3 it should take long. If clean I just rinse under faucet, drop in a bowl of Vodka overnight. After that just use warm/hot water and last purified water. To fill/top off it take me only a couple mins per CE3 and I don't fill every night just twice a week. BTW I have 12 CE3 in use at same time plus 4 new boxes for spare.

I'd be happy to pass along the ones I like to you guys here, just pm me.

With Capella's flavorings, most were really simple, just straight 15% flavoring out of the bottle.

Same. I use to go out for a quick smoke. I do mean quick. I liked the big draw of a smoke. I didn't mind the taste and smell until after I was finished. The tingle as the nic went through my body. Why I keep a 24 mg on hand.

I do chain vape. I will drain a ce3 in an hour. If I could get a huge hit off the vaping that would be awesome. (not the Jersey dude awsum :) ) After 5-6 months I am still learning how best to use them. I am guessing that the lower the nic means more vape time to reach the nic level my body is accustomed for.

Everyone vapes for different reasons. My end goal is to not vape anymore either. Why I went with the low nic. I am close to the point sometimes I think twice reaching for X2 as if I really need to vape. I just figure 30 years of smoking is a long time... No need to rush quitting the vaping.

I'm trying to find a nic level that I can all-day vape. Most of my juices are 18mg which I've found is too much for me if I chain vape. Since I've found RY4, which I ABSOLUTELY love, I will have to decide whether or not to get 12mg or 6mg. Love the flavor... but don't want to OD on nic. Maybe 6mg will be enough?
