You guys have all been so helpful, I would have been lost without you! I've decided on the KGO starter kit. Am going to order it today from Hoosier KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit
What else do I need?
Sandy

Welcome,
Looks like a good value for what you are getting. Hoosier has a fine reputation around here. One of the many great vendors represented on ECF. The 1100 mA batteries will give you a lot of vaping time between charges. You will want to try some 510 type cartomizers which are a popular alternative to the Atomizer/Cartridge system. They are available in Standard Resistance (around 3 ohms) and Low Resistance or LR (typically less than 2.2 ohms). You might want to buy a 5 pack of each but at least start with a pack of Standard Resistance to get the hang of using cartomizers. Boge is a well respected brand and come highly recommended. You also want to be thinking about some extra e-liquid to refill your carts and cartomizers. Liquids are the biggest challenge when it comes to finding what tastes good to you. This will give you a lot of vaping options to try. These are solid, economical PVs to start with. You can get with the more complicated (and more expensive) stuff later on after you have a better idea of what vaping is all about.

There will be plenty of other opinions on every aspect of this whole thing but rest assured you have made a great decision on a starter package. Stick with it. You can always fine tune things later on if you want.

Shopping trip, yay!
This is what I bought, and I used the 5% off code, but it still was $74.00. That's what I would spend on smokes for less than a week.

1 KGO kit 1100mAh by SLB
1 Standard 3.0ohm single coil 510 Cartomizer
2.0 ohm low resistance cartomizer.(single coil) 5 pack
1 CE-2 rubber tip for cartomizers
Liquid:
18mg 10ml E-Liquid "house blends 18mg: Apple Pie
18mg Ultimate Vapor brand E-Juice: Caramel Cream
18mg Dekang E-Juice 18mg: Menthol 18mg 50ml

Nice kit. you may want to get some juice. For starters I would recommend you get several flavors in small sampler size bottles. Once you find the flavor you like, order bigger bottles. You may also want to get some cartomizers to try - you may like them better than the atomizers/cart combo you are getting.

Good Luck and Happy Vaping.

Chevelle, are the cartomizers I bought the ones you were talking about?
Sandy

Sounds like they might be. If they are packaged in white boxes with "Atomized Cartridges" printed on them, then they are probably Boges. In any event, they will work for you. You did good!! Congratulations on a great start! Always stop in here at ECF with any questions or concerns as you begin your vaping journey.

Can't WAIT for my kit to get here!! I think I need to buy more juice though. I only ordered 18 mg. What other ones should I get? 24 mg? 36?
Sandy

Welcome Sandy to ecf.....looks like you are pretty set.....I would advise you to try the juice you bought first and then decide.....actually, you seem to have a lot of juice already ordered.....try the 18mg first, then you can determine if it is what you need......
the delivery of nic into your system is different than when smoking analogs.....
With analogs- your lungs get a direct hit
with ecigs - the majority of the nic is absorbed through the mouth and throat, so it take a few minutes before you know you're are actually getting some nic.
also remember to drink lots of liquids as vaping dries you out big time.....
If you want to start looking to buy new liquids, look for starter pack and/or samples first....that way if you don't like the juice you haven't got a big bottle setting there that you want to pour down the sink...haha
good luck
:)

The Wood Between the Worlds
One of my non computer literate coworkers handed me $80 and asked me to get him a vaporizer. I got him the E Power kit from CCV. I told him that if he didn't like it, he could have my pair of ego 650 passthroughs.

He's getting the unit, 5 cartos, two batts, charger and 90ml of juice for $80. The ECF discount was nice.

I'm kind of hoping he doesn't like it. I'm tempted to get one for myself, but I'm holding out for that new mod that's coming out.

Off topic,

The E-Power from CCV is what I recommended to sandybeach and it is awesome. I highly suggest you try one. When I first started, it was between the E-Power and the kGo. Both are great PVs and have similar battery life, I just liked that the E-Power batteries are much cheaper to replace so I went with the E-Power. I dont know what juice you got as your free one but the Black & Mild is VERY good and really flavorful.

Sandybeach, I think youll really like your kGo. Its a great device to get you started. Offtopic this is also for you, but I would recommend that both of you try the "Ressurector" cartomizers from CCV. They are incredible and really make a 3.7V PV like the kGo and E-Power shine. They are 1.7ohm LR and hold 2ml of juice. They are single coil, but many feel they produce vapor similar to a dual coil, but wont drain your battery like a dual coil will. I think you will LOVE your kGo sandybeach with a Ressurector attached to it. I use them daily on my E-Power and couldnt be happier.

CCV has free shipping so Id consider ordering a pack of Ressurectors. CCV gives a free syringe with all carto purchases.
If you order a 15-pack, you get a free syringe AND a free drip tip.

I HIGHLY suggest to both of you that you use a syringe to fill your cartomizers. The first fill is very important and this will insure that it is done correctly. I know it might seem intimidating, but it is very easy to do, even when your just starting out. You can drip into the top to fill them, but then its easy to overfill or underfill them and you also have to give the juice time to settle to the bottom. If you dont wait long enough, or put enough juice in it is very easy to singe your wick and ruin your carto. Using a syringe is quick and efficient, especially if you are using XL cartos like the Ressurectors. Dripping into them will take a LONG time because they are so big.

I originally posted this in another thread for someone that asked how to fill a Ressurector, but this is really for any carto. If you know how much juice the cartos you are using hold then that makes it easy. If you dont, then just slowly start filling, and you will see the juice start to come to the top. Once the filler starts to become "slushy" they are fully filled.
Heres my copy and paste.

How to fill a cartomizer with a syringe:

"All you have to do is take the dropper part of the bottle off your juice and fill your syringe with 2ml for a new carto. Take the rubber tip off the carto and carefully insert the needle down the side pushing against the metal. DO NOT go thru the filler because it will move it and you could potentially break a connection and your carto. Slide the needle down the side and go all the way to the bottom. Then slowly start dispensing some juice. Dont dispense it all bc then it won't be evenly distributed. Put alittle in, then take it out and insert the needle in a different spot. I normally do it in 3 spots (in a triangle) I found it distributes the best, but you could just do it in 2, on opposite sides. Make sure the needle is at the bOttom bc then you will not have to wait at all for it to settle. Disperse slowly and you will begin to see the toP of the filler become slushy. It is full then, don't put more. If its a new carto is will def hold 2ml, if your refilling it won't take a lot so pay attention and once it gets alittle slushy stop. While your filling hold a napkin or something under the carto bc if you do it too fast a few drops will come out the battery end. If that happens its only bc you did it too fast and the poly fill didn't absorb quick enough.( that happens to me bc I am impatient and fill it in about 10 sec, so I just hold a paper towel or napkin underneath.) wipe up the drops and put the rubber cap back on the carto. Then put the carto between your hands and rub back and forth spinning the carto quickly. This will insure the liquid is evenly distributed in case you put too much on one side from the syringe.
Now you have a perfectly filled ressurector that is ready to be used right away!"

Goodluck with everything sandybeach and let me know if you have any questions!
And let us know how you like your kGo!!

You all are the BOMB! Thanks for all this help. I am counting the minutes until my stuff gets here. Rob, thanks! I will have to try a Resurector; I didn't think to get a syringe, it sounds like a great idea. Thanks for all the help and information :) Much appreciated.

I saw an old friend today; a long time smoker. Turns out he has been in the hospital a lot; emphysema, and heart arrhythmia. He actually quit smoking, the last one I thought would quit. But he was scared to death. The doctor told him he has 45% lung power. But once it gets to 30% you're pretty much sunk and hooked up to oxygen 24/7.

I think it was good I saw him today. Makes me really really want to quit smoking right away!

Ay, I ordered my kit from Hoosier on Thursday 11/10, and I just got an email that he shipped it today 10/12! I was hoping to get it Monday -- maybe I still will. Almost tempted to buy a cheapo one at a gas station.

I bought a pack of smokes yesterday out in the suburbs and it was $5.30! Here in Chicago they are $8.75!!!

Wow. The last time I bought a pack of smokes they were still around $3 something. I started ecigs right about the time obama started upping the tobacco taxes.
I would have been in the poor house by now, if it weren't for ecigs...

I got a cold two weeks ago and this cough just won't go away, and I know if is from smoking.
J

Hi J,

The same thing happened to me. I thought I was just lucky not having having the smokers cough after 20 years. 6 weeks ago I caught a cold and the cough never went away. 10 days ago I started vaping, and 8 days ago the cough went away :D
Now I just cough once or twice a day because my lungs are trying to clear but its nothing like what it used to be. Just a quick normal one instead of the vein-popping, headache-inducing ones. I'm no longer afraid my eyes will pop out, haha!

Welcome to ecf and good luck. I'm sure you'll be very happy here and with vaping :)

Woot Sandybeach! :)

Glad to hear it's working out for you

I've ordered from Hoosiers a couple times now and never been disappointed. Great prices and usually same day shipping. Can't ask for much more :)

Be sure to keep us all up to date on your vaping experience. What you try, problems, tips, discoveries, tastes, etc!

Thanks, Maximillian the Vaguely Disreputable (hahahahaha). The only problem I have run into is that I have tried dripping onto the little atty and putting a blank tip on to try juices. It doesn't work; the battery just flickers like it is out of power.

I bought some 0 mg. juices so I can just vape late at night without the nicotine keeping me awake.
