I'm thinking there needs to be a sticky on this....

I tried my humble contribution, just arrived at this forum, here.....

But I think it is a text-book example of TL;DR....... even if I sincerely put some effort trying to be both academic (those equations) and accessible (remember, I tried!....;)).

The Spanish original version was also translated and in another ones I tried to make comparisons between old AC-AC converters for TV sets (old appliances tailored for old folks, when in Europe AC mains 125V-50Hz was upgraded to 230V-50Hz and the nightmare that these little changes bore for TV sets and electronics in general):
¡Vapor, no humo......!: Some thoughts and numbers about DC - DC converters and how the atomizer resistance is not so important....

I'll need to link that when the "such a low resistance draws a lot of amps"-thingy next comes up. But I think it would be great if you could do an even shorter and more simplified write up!

You asked, and I could deliver......

Well, I think so. Hope you now will like it. It's always possible to make it even shorter, but then you drop off relevant info, yeah, that one that some folks do not like or need, they just like short.

I'm not used to preach for the choir, and I would definitively prefer to show the fishing rod instead getting them the fish....;)

Yes, you double the voltage, but batteries will "sag", so a freshly charged 4.2v 18650 is really only able to output about 3.7v (its nominal voltage). Double that is 7.4v.

No doubt you can put out "fat clouds" with a series mech mod and a low resistance build, he's probably pushing north of 200 watts when the battery is fresh on a build lower than 0.3 ohms. And he's also pulling more than 30 amps. But ask him how the flavor is, and how wide open he has to have the airflow to keep from burning his mouth at that power level and how deep he has to inhale to support it.

He's basically showing off, and not many people actually enjoy that sort of vape, they just enjoy watching the pretty pretty clouds.

You have to ask yourself what you're looking for out of vaping, and the FIRST thing you should ask is "am I doing this to impress people and fit in with the cool kids?" Because if you are, you're probably going at it for the wrong reasons. It's that sort of crap that got most of us smoking in the first place, and we all know how that turns out.

There's nothing wrong with clouds if that's what you like, but don't feel like you NEED to do it either. There's a whole lot more to the experience than that, just be sure you find the aspect or aspects that actually keep you off dipping and smoking, for your own reasons.

Getting back to the X Cube II, it's a decent device for the price (I have one on the way), and gives you a lot of options, it'll support any type of vaping you choose, from tootle puffing to mega cloud chasing and anything in between. It has some issues, and it's huge, but for the most part, it's hard to go wrong with it for around $60.
What are he issues with x cube? Let me know what you think when you get it. Maybe even pm me if you have a moment cuz you know your stuff. And no he was running .5 ohms and supposedly he said 8.4v on a 26650 on a wife open like 30mm dripper. Which we calculated to be about 140 watts and 15 amps. Seemed to be enjoying himself. He was a genuine guy and it seemed to be a friendly vape shop thet I might even spend extra money in to get recommendations and building help in the future. I mean he was cloud chasing but he sure as hell wasn't tootle puffing. Think he just found what he liked or wanted to use that day cuz I assure you he had other mods. Like I think he ran a sig with a starre pro too

Why are things blamed on Old folks when young folks keep changing things? And...Do young folks not realize how much old folks changed life while they were young folks?

I've been getting the "check battery" error intermittently. I am not familiar with Yihi error codes. Can anyone tell me what this means? The battery is pretty new and fully charged.

Brand and model?
Charger type?
Power settings at time of event?
Battery reserve at time of event?

Your problem may be no problem at all.

I got that too. I cleaned the battery contacts, actually lightly sanded them because it had a some sort of film on them. Haven't got that message since..

Samsung 30Q
Nitecore charger
25-30J with a Ti coil
About 75% charged

Well, I would start by cleaning the Battery contacts good, then buying a 20+ amp battery.

Nominal discharge capacity: 3000mAh
Charge: 1.50A, 4.20V,CCCV 150mA cut-off,
Discharge: 0.2C, 2.5V discharge cut-off
2. Nominal voltage: 3.6V
3. Standard charge: CCCV, 1.50A, 4.20 ± 0.05 V, 150mA cut-off
4. Rapid charge: CCCV, 4A, 4.20 ± 0.05 V, 100mA cut-off
5. Charging time:
Standard charge : 180min / 150mA cut-off
Rapid charge: 70min (at 25 °C) / 100mA cut-off
6. Max. continuous discharge: 15A(at 25°C), 60% at 250 cycle
7. Discharge cut-off voltage: 2.5V
8. Cell weight: 48.0g max.
9. Cell dimension
Height : 64.85 ± 0.15mm
Diameter : 18.33 ± 0.07mm

Yours may be tripping the Mod from Sag and is only a 15a battery.

In Mooch's tests the 30q can handle 20 amps without breaking a sweat. It's on par with the 20 amp LG 3000 mAh battery (hg2?).
