so my D2 just randomly stopped working. if i put a new battery in and hold the fire button the firmware version will show up, but it won't power on at all. any ideas?
This might seem like a dumb question but did you push the button five clicks to turn the mod on after installing the new battery? I've had my d2 for a couple 3 months now with no issues at all. So I'm just curious, Thanks!

yes i know how to turn the mod on

And another all too obvious suggestion... clean the battery contacts. I suggest rubbing with a pencil eraser and follow up with an alcohol cloth.
yeah i cleaned the contacts, tried different batteries, etc

F*** that... i wouldn't buy one again. i'll either try to go the warranty route or get something with SX350J chip in it.

Unless I have been re-re-reading this the wrong way, can you post a pic of those 6 3mm coils in your SubTank mini ? I can't visualize that.

6 wraps with a 3mm coil diameter? Visually it looks almost identical to the prebuilt kanthal coils that come with the ST mini (which I think are 5 wraps). It fits perfectly in the ST mini (with room to spare and the coils are slightly spaced). Using my GEM I have to use a 2.5 mm coil and at 8 wraps I can barely squeeze that sucker in without touching any of the sides.

I'll take a few pics the next time I build & post them up. For me, 6 wraps of 28ga Ni200 using a 3mm coilmaster jig usually comes out between .07 and .08 ohm.

EDIT: Unless you're implying that the original post made it sound like I had 6 separate coils, which would be hard to visualize.

Yep, 6 separate coils, that's how I visualized it and got it stuck in my head when I read your post. Sometimes I do act SIMPLE . Sorry about that, I'll try and straighten up :(. Ever since I read your post I have been thinking "How the He!! does he fit 6 3mm coils on that Itty Bitty SubTank mini Deck ?" and all the while I'm dropping stuff and stumbling over things and walking into walls. It's been a rough day. Thanks for clearing that one up for me. Yep, Here's my sign :danger:.

For the people interested : I tested some nife30 wire from zipvipf in germany. 0,32m was the one I ordered. Put it in TI mode and fired it up, works like a charm. I use 400F and 27,5 j on a dual coil titanium. I put it at 380F and used the same J. Works very good, and very good taste

So if you want to experiment with nife30 you can use your ipv d2 also

My D2 is having a fit, rebuilt Bellus tank with 26ga titanium locking in at .22 ohms 450*, as soon as I fire it the ohms go up to .4-.5 and a few times fired really hot and tasted close to burnt. Has anyone had a similar experience using ti and D2?
You do, of course, understand that as soon as you fire it the resistance should jump up, right? I may be way off, but just seat of the pants I'm thinking a .22 ohm Ti1 coil should jump up to over .42 ohms or so at 450 degrees. The power that you set determines how fast the resistance goes up.

What power do you have it set at? Maybe try a lower temp if it is tasting burned.

I know with TC wire-types the resistance will change, this was different. I pulled the deck to check for anything touching and to make sure the post screws were tight and everything looked good. Not sure why I did it,maybe the coil was too small at 2mm ID and was also touching causing it to ramp up quicker, but I have already re-built it using Kanthal. Thanks for the help.
