Eciggity also has that number in their pics to purchase. Rip Tripper got his from Eciggity as well and shares the number in his first look review.
I was told by eciggity that all their units have that #.
I just put my batteries in mine and vaped for a bit. Plugged in the radio shack 1 amp charger and it appears to charge (red light stays on). I decided to get the 1 amp as opposed to the 1.5. It was cheaper and I wanted to see If that 1.5 might be too much. Even though the box should auto adjust what amp it charges at. I got mine from eciggity. lot #W0285

Oh...? I don't think this is true at all. In fact, I'd suggest not using the charger because as far as I know, the IPV3 is not as intelligent as something like a Luc, or any other charger for that matter, in terms of monitoring temp and stuff.
Have had my IPV3 for a week now and just voicing my opinion on this, so here it goes:
First off, this thing is a beast. Performance is amazing.
Yes it sucks because there is no touch sensor active (even though I would have turned it off immediately)
Yes it sucks that there is not a "proven" charger that we can use (although switching batteries out isn't horribly bad, but still a pain)
Yes it sucks that the 12 month warranty turned to 6 months
Everywhere I see people are very ...... and ranting all over the place about the IPV3. Yes, I understand that P4U shafted us on some important things, but everyone needs to take a deep breath and realize that this unit does perform like it is supposed to and it does it well. I have had ZERO problems out of my device and I am very happy with it. I keep reading people ranting and everyone that looks at it says something along the lines of...."thanks for posting that, I am canceling my order...." Come on everyone, at least tell people that the thing does have pros to it as well. The spring loaded 510 is nice, the 150w is nice, the unit is a good small design (for 2 batteries) and the touch and feel are nice.....
I understand that we expect quality and we compare devices to everything else, I get that. I also understand that things should work when they were in the description of the item specifics, I get that too. But 98% of the people that are ...... off are neglecting that this device does do what it is supposed to and it does do it well. I love my IPV3 and I am very happy I purchased it. Of course I have some things that make me upset, but I can live without it. No biggie. Vape on and enjoy !
By the way, I have had my batteries in my device for 3 days not and I am at about 60-70% battery life left.....vaping at 50watts

I agree that this device performs very well. Not quite getting the battery life you are, but still lasts a couple of days. What gets to me is that some of us that preordered, did not even get the option to cancel after P4U started taking away from what was originally advertised. Price should at least been adjusted. I'm sure if someone bought a car that was suppose to have air conditioning, and then discovered that it didn't, they wouldn't just shrug their shoulders and say oh well, it still runs great. They would want compensation, a different car or money back. I know we are talking about a lot less money for the IPV, but it's the principle of it.

I totally agree with all of that. I was not aware of that. By the way, I mainly use my cana mod so my IPV3, at the moment, is only used about 10 times a day so thats why the battery has been so good to me. I should have stated that. I do agree with your response though.
It would be really cool to find out that it does have a balance charging board in it and that there is a possibility that a specific charger will work. I want someone to go ahead and put magnets on theirs and post it. I want to do that.
Let mine charge over night and it glowed red for some time . When I checked it in the morning the light was out. checked battery level. It appears it didn't charge.
Had mines for 5 days now and I'm happy with the performance as well. On board charging and touch sensor I would of never used anyways. What I'm happy with are the ohms are dead on and no problems with it so far. Only part I don't like is the warranty. I just hope mines does not die.
I picked up a charger from an electronic surplus store. 9VDC, 1A. I did the first charge last night and it appears to have worked.
can you explain what happened when you plugged it in all the way up to when you saw it was charged?
When I plugged it in, the light beside the charging port turned red. When it was done charging, the light turned off. When I turned the mod back on, the battery indicator showed a full battery.

The sticker on the charger says "Output DC9V, 1 Amp". It also says Baknor on the label and Class 2 transformer.
In terms of charging times, the battery indicator showed that it was half-full when I plugged it in this morning around 9:30. It took about 2:30 hours for it to fully charge.
In terms of battery life, my VTC4's lasted about a day and a half to go from fully charged to half-charged with a guesstimated total vaping time of about 2 hours.

Should be an easy thing to check for I would imagine. I'll check mine when it comes.
Truth be known, they probably got a bunch of them for free from P4U. They should provide them free of charge for anyone that preordered when it was still advertised as included. Especially VapeNW who says no cancellations on the eBay preorder.
