hi all.

ok so i went today and got two small little tiny rolls (cause they're small in size) of stainless steel wire.
one roll is 22 gauge
the other is 26 gauge.
i am 100% sure these are 316L cause i read the bag they were in.

anyways.
i want to TEST dry burn on my ipv3li.

so i made 9 wraps on the 26gauge and it came out to be 0.8-0.9 which is ok.
pulsed and tested the coil. all OK

i switched the unit to Joule mode and set it to F. then the lowest 212F.
i put in some cotton.
i fired it up -- and it didnt cut off.

it burned the cotton and everything caught fire.

i then tried the 22 gauge.

same issue.

whats going on? doesnt the ipv3li have this feature or am i missing something?

@Scy123 Im glad you said that its good to keep things in perspective. Its not always the manufacturer or the device.Im not trying to sound like a #%@& but we are talking about a165 watt device that can be upgraded to 200 you should know what the specs are. There is no excuse for not knowing what wire that device is compatible with

you hit the nail right on the head.
thats exactly what i was saying. this device is being used NOW and it should do what others can do. they can upgrade it to 200watts but they cant give it the ability to detect SS wire? if it can do TI and Ni then surely it can do SS.
I've heard/read that P4U is crap company but chose to go with their product anyways. here i am sitting in regret.

I think you missed my point a little. for as far as P4U yes they have their issues but in their defense the 3LI(I have a 3LI and an IPV5)was 4 mods ago they have released the 4 4s and 5 since then.you can buy a ipv5 which does ni,ti ss and TCR for 50 bucks.
Ok now my main point was IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to read the owners manual and know the specs of your device.what you are doing IS EXACTLY WHAT THE VAPING COMMUNITY DOES NOT NEED
we DO NOT need people building sub ohm coils and placing them on 200 watt devices to "dry burn"without knowing anything about the device..suppose you had panicked and tried to blow out the burning cotton.Hot embers go flying everywhere and land on your couch, carpet ,drapes...do you see the potential for disaster?
and while we are here, what exactly are you trying to prove by dry burning cotton?that TC works?when you have the correct components hooked up together,it works well
being mad that the 3li doesn't do ss is like being mad an 85 camaro doesn't have abs
