I believe PB recent review after several months later regarding the dna chip is dead on and unbiased. The board still has issues.

It's just my personal experience but the warranty while in place is still a hassle. I bought two chips and have three devices in total that run the DNA40 board. After testing the boards I installed one and it worked for about a week and began to have problems. I contacted Evolv and their response was to cut the wires off the board and send it back to them, well I installed the board with very little extra wire to make it clean. I de-soldered the board and sent it back, they can clean it up if they so desire. The replacement took almost two weeks but they did replace both boards.

My VF was also buggy, that one took around a month to get back.

All that being said when using Ni200 I see the same issues that PB discussed in his video and one of them is a big problem, jumping out of TP while vaping. Blame it on the device, the atomizer or the chip I really don't care but heating Ni200 out of TP can produce some nasty stuff. There should have been some thought behind what was or was not an appropriate atomizer and that should have been tested and conveyed prior to the release.

There are still reported problems with the recent release. I use mine because I know how build and to adjust for the inconsistencies. With Rossums guidance I moved to titanium which for me is much more consistent then Ni200.

Please don't get me wrong, the technology is great but there are still problems and some folks just want to argue that it's the best most groundbreaking thing on the market. Well my only response would be, I hope some group isn't testing for toxicity when one jumps out of TP because that's going to be a problem. I've had it happen to me and I know the result. The tech was released to soon and the inconsistent performance could give the extremists an argument know body wants to hear.

The other challenge, the chip still can't be used by the people that can benefit the most, a new vapor. Pre-made coils are still not readably available.

When you talk about warranties I will be moving to the SX Chip, the vendors I purchase from support their sales and Perry at Varitube will get my money when the SX 350J chip is released. His customer service and support is second to none!

so are you saying that I could use titanium wire for the temp control on my IPV4?

Yes:

Ooh, IPV4 FW update coming in one week!

Anyway, good news - finally an update for the IPV4! I really hope it fixes some of the annoying bugs, as well as adding Titanium.

Got a second reply from him confirming that this definitely means Titanium for the IPV4

However you have always been able to use the IPV4 with TC on Titanium, just it required a temperature offset. So if you wanted 400°F at the coil, with Titanium you might set around 250-260°F on the IPV4.

Below is a temperature probe test I did on the DNA 40, testing seven different temperature settings on the mod with a Titanium coil, measuring the actual achieved temperature. As you can see, once you know what setting to use, it achieves a given target temperature very accurately.

Note that I post this just as an example of it being possible to use an offset - the figures in the graph will not be applicable to the IPV4 (or Yihi SX Mini M.) The DNA 40 requires a lower offset when vaping on Titanium than do other mods.

So where here you see me setting 160°C to achieve 205°C (320°F for 400°F), on an IPV4 it might be 120°C / 250°F to achieve 200-205°C. Or possibly even lower.

I don't know the precise figures for the IPV4 because I haven't yet done that test on the IPV4, and probably won't bother now that the new FW is coming out with specific support.

If I do get time, and/or the IPV4 firmware is delayed, I might run the same study with the IPV4 without the FW update, just so we can see how it works and so people can vape Titanium better in the days/weeks until it comes. But given it's supposed to come in less than a week, I doubt I will.

When the new IPV4 FW comes out I will definitely verify its accuracy in Titanium mode.

They prob wont ship additional colors. The info I got from a rep was, sometime in the next 20 days, The IPV4S will be coming out with new features and software. A IPV4 firmware update will be released that that time. Also, P4U has switched warrenty centers to USING KMG IMPORT AND VAPRO TO ALL THE IPV LINE TO FULFILL WARRANTIES

A side note, I'm getting much better battery life out of these than expected from a series mod. I assume TC itself has some to do with that.

Just had a pair of batteries last from Wednesday morning until Friday morning, and the indicator still read just below half. It was at least 10ml (prob closer to 15) of liquid, and this was the only device I was using at all.

Switched them out before work just to make sure they'd last the workday, and not enough time to check on the meter.

I'm gonna run these til they're dead just to get a grasp on how long a full charge lasts me.

Yea might be an update for the original ipv4 then i'd think, wonder if they can update the firmware to make it like the dna with the various sensing and sending data to the pc too

They likely could, but it would mean a significant investment in programming hardware, firmware and computer software. It is more likely they release a new chip to support those costs. Another option is creating a SX*** software suite that can connect to all there compatible SX chips like the SX330 and SX350, as this would give all their chips a sales boast. Creating a new chipset would be the most likely option, especially since we are not aware of the current SX chips capabilities.
