Is It Just Me or is Using a Toenail Clipper as a Tool a Stupid Idea?

This, nail clippers are excellent tools for clipping wire leads. Something most everyone has, it's cheap and allows you to be very accurate. Pretty foolproof. Not bad for cutting wicking either, certainly better than scissors.

Nail clippers work very well for clipping silica or ekowool wick; not so well for cotton or rayon. Scissors work best for those.

Ahh dear sir, you underestimate the rabid vapor.

I use nail clippers and mini screwdrivers, and my coils do exactly what Steam Engine says they`ll do.

FWIW, a mini screwdriver, when used properly, will help cut down on over torquing a screw. This I understand is somewhat of a problem, ha ,ha.

Best,

For me, nail clippers work the best of anything I tried to snip kanthal leads. Side snippers cutters don't get as close (even the little ones made for jewelry making). The fingernail nail clippers get it snipped right close to the post. They are new nail clippers. I don't vape toe jam.

Nail clippers get close but not as close or are as easy to use as Hakko CHP-170 Micro Clean Cutters.

With muticoil builds where you have more than one wire going through a post hole in opposite directions these are precise enough to clip the tails and miss the legs.

Nail clipper is what? 59 cents hanging by the check out pretty much anywhere? As long as it safely accomplishes whatever chore you want to accomplish with it, I'm not sure how it could be inappropriate. Nail clippers are not rare or expensive.

I suppose the tool I use for wicks isn't what most other people would use... I just use my pocket knife. D2 tool steel vs cotton pad probably equates to - I don't know - maybe tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of wicks between sharpening? I require my pocket knife to cleanly cut much more serious material than cotton pad every day.

Having the appropriate size head for the screw is more important than the size of the screwdriver when dealing with little bitty machine screws... I deal with a lot of little phillips screws, but this doesn't apply to my vaping. My post screws all require a .035 allen.

I think it seems weird if you happen to be using the same pair, both for nails AND wire... I bought a dedicated pair of super toenail side cutters with a spring handle that I used for a few months. But only on wire. Then a month ago I bought a pair of flush cut Xcelite nippers.

The nippers work so well tho, I am thinking of using them on my toenails. But only on the thick, yellow ones. Lol!

I see a lot of clone clippers on the market.

Are these really as good as the Authentic brands?

If you're asking about the Xcelites'... I bought them because I thought they were the authentic brand. But I will say, when you compare the 4 or 5 that I looked at, they all seem to have the exact same cutting head and just different handles applied... But they cut 24ga like buttah.
