to crave cigarettes so badly. Ive been vaping about five days now, I still smoke analogues have drastically reduced to about five to six daily. Well yesterday I run out of analogues, and was smoking the few butts I managed to find about 3, and today I am badly craving for a analogue, I managed to have 1 this morning, but am craving like Ive never had one for a few days., and the ecig isnt helping this strong urge for a Analogue
Is this a withdrawal symptom or do I need to up my nicotine strength, the juice I have now is high strength 24

Prob about 20 to 30 a day, I was hoping it was a withdrawal symptom, because my lungs feel brand new.
Well, I was hoping to tell you that your nicotine strength was too low.

But if you smoked only a pack and a half per day then 24mg should work.
Unless maybe it was roll your own you were doing.

And then there is the whole MAOIs thing too.
You may need to supplement with snus.

Just throwing out some random ideas and hoping to get this thread rolling for you.

I think it depends on the device you have. I bought a Firelight M401 model as a tester. It looked and felt like a cigarette but didn't pack much punch so I was still smoking cigarettes, granted not as many, when using it. But when I ordered the BB from altsmoke.com I haven't touched a cigarette since. It puts out a ton of vapor and is actually more pleasant than smoking cigarettes. I thought I would only go for cigarette flavors like tobacco or menthol. Boy was I wrong. I don't crave cigarettes at all and the smell of cigarette smoke is nauseating to me already.

Most likely is that your body is still craving something that was in a cig (you know one or more of those 4000 chemicals). Since you're using a fairly high nic I recommend you just take it slow to wean yourself off the analogs. Not everyone can switch to vaping automatically, myself included (after a yr I'm still smoking about 1/2 a pack of analogs a day). Best of luck!

For some people it's still a struggle to totally give up cigarettes. I've heard that for many folks, using snus along with e-cigs give them the relieve they are looking for. You might want to give that a try.

Snus is illegal to sell in NZ but not to import or use. I bought mine over 1 week ago from Sweden and am still waiting for it. I never even heard of snus until I came here

There is no specific way to determine what nic strength is right for someone based on how much they smoked. I smoked 2 pack3 or more a day of regular or light cigarettes (whichever the hubby had bought) and I couldn't even vape 24mg while the next person may have smoked less than a pack a day of ultra lights and they need 36mg. If you are having a constant craving then I would suggest trying something a little stronger. Buy some 36mg unflavored and add a little bit of it to your 24mg and see how that works. Also, not everyone can just quit smoking the first day they vape. It took me almost 2 months to totally get off the cigs.

Wow 1 year, I thought it would be easier then that . Do you have any health problems that you had when smoking just analogs. Is it really that hard to give up analogs after vaping for a year?

Note: I have been smoke-free for almost 70 days and I still crave a cigarette on occasion (actually I crave the other alkaloids in the cigarette smoke).

Ok, this is what you need to do. First, get some 36 mg juice. When I first started I was using 24 mg juice and my cravings for cigarettes were still tremendous. I up my nicotine level to 36 mg’s and this significantly reduced my cravings. Second, once you increase your nicotine levels and if you still have strong cravings then you are not craving nicotine. You are craving the other compounds in cigarette smoke (alkaloids). Go get yourself some snus or snuff and use this in conjunction with vaping (probably be best to lower your nicotine content of your juice in this case). This approach will tell you if your cravings are for nicotine or the other alkaloids.

All the suggestions thus far I think are on the money.

One other thing to consider which is a major factor for me is how much vapor you're getting. I've found the more vapor I get the more satisfaction I get and I'm down to 12mg from 36mg when I started just a month ago. See if you can find some USP VG at Wal-Mart and add a few drops to your carts.

Also, keep a fresh battery on your cart. Mine work great for about 30 minutes of straight vaping and then start dying off producing less vapor.

Wow, what model are you using? You should be getting a lot more time out of the battery than 30 minutes.

For some people it clearly is. I was one of the lucky ones ... went from smoking 1-2 packs a day for 35 years to nada instantly. Many people do that, then there are others who struggle. Strange, huh? Lots of variables at play.

Anyway, I would also recommend trying a higher nicotine level. It may help. On the other hand, you may be craving something else in tobacco which you won't get from vaping. You may be one who takes longer and with more effort to get off the damned coffin nails.

I wish you the best of luck!

My son and I've been vaping since April 2009. My hubby has been trying to vape since then too. He just let me know the other day that he just can't do the vaping thing. It wasn't working for him. Don't let stories like mine or the other one discourage you. I honestly think it works for more people than not.

I do agree about the nic, for sure. Took me the better part of 3weeks to figure out I wasn't using a high enough mg amt. But I still really wanted a smoke in the truck. Something about the 6,7 or 8 sec drag wasn't doing it for me while I was driving.

Think about how it feels for you, & if this may be true for you as well, consider a mod. Myself, I went with the Silver Bullet by Altsmoke. I can now take a 2-4 sec drag, very analog-like, and get loads of vapor & th. That was the thing that ended the 'I gotta have a ....' thing.

Don't get me wrong, after smoking for 40yrs, there are still some cravings. But they are no longer so strong I actually reach for a smoke. I simply hit the SB like a madman and the craving subsides.

I Love my SB. It was the right mod for me. I researched, I read. Watch in the supplier sub-forums for lots of complaining threads. Stay away from those products. Then choose from the rest. Pick the mod that seems to fit you the best.

Good luck & hang in there! Lots of support here, feel free to use us as you see fit! :p

And btw.. Welcome... to the Revolution!

OOPs. I should explain real quick what a mod is.

They're basically holders for larger batts. They last much longer @ whatever voltage you're using, therefore give much more consistent vapor & th for longer.

With a mod tho', you're definitely leaving the 'looks like an analog' thing in the dust.

More info on mods is avail. here....

It's a good list to make initial choices from, then more research here & youtube.

Good Luck!

I agree with the suggestions to start by increasing your nicotine level. But watch out for signs of getting too much nicotine (See my post at http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ing-your-symptoms-while-adjusting-vaping.html for information about how to recognize whether you're getting too little or too much.) If you don't eventually find a nic level which makes you happy then it will be time to consider supplementing with some smokeless tobacco. In the meantime, don't beat yourself up if you just have to have some analogs. You're making good progress.
