Can we turn that into a mech? That way I won't have to clip it to my belt?

Don't wear Belts? No Problem.

As long as you have at Least one finger, you are in luck.

I really don't get the people who insist TC is more work or more complicated compared to VW mode
24664313681_c43e9e55b4_o.gif

step 1: wrap and install coil
step 2: wick & fill tank or drip
step 3: set max wattage appropriate to your build and work up the temp till you find your sweet spot like you would set the wattage in VW mode (you'll know these values by heart soon enough once you start using it), and voila, you're done.

What's so different in this process from using VW mode?

To me there are no downsides, only benefits, and a much more ejoyable, smoother vape to boot.

You guys are missing out.

Here's how it was extra work for me...ymmv:

First of all, I like to keep a fresh vape and so I dry-burn and re-wick every day or two. With Ti (my preferred TC wire) they say you shouldn't dry burn it due to safety concerns, so I would replace the entire coil every time I noticed a flavor degradation. Ti did seem to last longer, but only by a day or two. So, every 3-4 days I was rolling new coils. Compare that with my kanthal coils that I keep for 2-4 weeks (even kept one for 3 months once).

My other issue was that I seemed to constantly need to re-tweak my settings every time I popped in a new coil (even though it was the exact same build as my previous). Same when changing Attys. Sometimes it would take a while to dial in a perfect vape. For me, Kanthal is plug 'n play. I know they have since added TCR values that may help with this (I think), but that has 'extra work' written all over it, correct me if I'm wrong.

I admit I had fun tinkering around with it (or I wouldn't have put up with the crappy part for 3 months), and it would be hypocritical of me to say others shouldn't try it. I was vaping TC at 0.2Ohm/80-100W and getting a great vape. At some point though I just asked myself if I was truly getting a more satisfying vape compared to my previous 0.7Ohms/28-30W setup, and the answer was no. I'm an ex-smoker and I vape for throat hit, flavor, and of course, nicotine. So I went back to my simpler Kanthal set-up. I could see if you wanted to blow clouds for the sake of blowing clouds and you need to push your rig, then TC could be useful.

I like that one better. But is TC pointless? TC being Tally Counter.

You could have just gone with SS (I know it has a lower TCR). You can dry burn it or go back to VW if you got frustrated with the performance. But I imagine you know all this. :)

I think TC is a sales gimmick and overated...
Its not available on the high-end Provari mods because Provape states TC is unproven..I agree..
All my VW mods has aTC mode but I don't need or use it..I only drip on my mechs these days and no TC needed there either..I know when it's time to re-drip and can see when the juice is low in my tanks..
TC? Might work for others but I don't use it at all..just sayin

For me it's more wire type preference, the new SS wires are just so much better than kanthal. for a while I didn't see much need for it after using kanthal for years... when I was using a DNA40 I figured I might as well try it, but I didn't like and having to build new nickel and Ti coils every day though I did feel like the Ti in particular offered much cleaner flavor over kanthal.

After that I went back to kanthal, but since switching over to 316L I don't see any reason to use kanthal anymore, Kanthal no longer has any benefits over it, you can burn the crap off, it's lower resistance and tastes better. I mean I could use the 316L in power mode instead of temp dominant but I don't really see the point.

I will say that I have tried TC on cheaper devices like the joyetech board, sx350j board etc, and I really didn't like it (sx board in particular). But the only regulated mods I've owned used dna boards and it's worked well enough on them since the DNA200/75.

You forgot ease of build Stainless is easier to work with imo. Now that Evolv smoothed out SS I don't think anybody can beat it. I love Yihi but unless they stop using PWM they' can't beat Evolv in TC.

I wanted to like it, I have 2 vaporshark rDNA40's, tinkered with the ni wire till I was blue in the face. I'm sure some of the newer TC mods on the market might be better but, I'm pretty happy with where I am. Maybe I'll check back in on it, maybe.....

Maybe it was just Me. But I found Nickel Wires to be Hard to Work With.

I'm pretty dexterous, being a locksmith, you have to be able to deal with little fidgety things that annoy and frustrate you on a daily basis! I was much more frustrated at the inability to achieve a consistently warm vape with ni and 40 watts. Granted, I didn't want to push my temps much higher than 420-440 so I figured what's the point!

I just never had any Consistent Results using Ni-200 Wire.

Ti and SS, No Problems. But for I do, I just like VW Better.
