Is there a product out there that you can plug into the wall?

I've always been curious...
I work from home and vape at my desk pretty much 8 hours a day. Wondering if there's a product out there where I can just plug something into the wall. batteries are frustrating. I have a rotation of 6 18650's and I dunno... batteries have a lifespan and they're expensive to replace.

just wondering if there's a product out there that I haven't found yet. or a solution that anyone can suggest.

I've thought about buying a 26650 mod but then.... i'd have to buy another 3 or so... batteries and a new mod... I guess I could do it.. but, curious to see what the board would suggest.

thanks!

You're looking for a Passthrough. They usually plug into a USB port, which could be your computer or a wall wart. If memory serves, several of the higher end mods have the option to buy a passthrough piece... I think I can get one for my ProVari, or my Silver Bullet (Altsmoke). I also believe that the eLeaf iStick and MVP can be used while charging in the same manner.

Best of luck!

The Itaste VV4-M 1000mAh just hit the market and I'm very impressed with the specs.

Dimension: 5-1/8"L x 5/8"W
510 and eGo Threaded
Operating Voltage: 3.0V-6.0V
Charging Time: 1.5 Hours
Operating Wattage: 6.0W-15.0W
Minimum Resistance: 0.8 ohms

It's variable voltage/variable wattage and can fire coils down to 0.8Ω, should you choose that style of vaping. It has a passthrough feature for the computer, but if you want to plug it into the wall you will need an adaptor. I suggest you get a longer USB cord too, the one it comes with looks a bit short.

maybe one of these is what you had in mind

- $4.80 Variable Voltage USB Passthrough for E-Cigarette at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
- Variable Voltage EgO/510 USB Passthrough

notice they recommend a 2 amp output;
The high power consumption of the passthrough may damage USB ports on most computers.

You have to keep in mind that the devices you can plug into a USB power supply and vape while plugged in all rely on... a battery. They maintain a constant battery charge, but the high amps that vaping requires are being pulled off the battery - not directly from the low amp power supply it's plugged into.

A standalone device like the one linked to at Fasttech with no battery in it is severely limited in the amount of current it can deliver - thus the warnings not to use it with any device below 2.0 ohms. (And a really bad idea period to use it on a computer if you value the USB ports on your computer.) There are some people who have built esoteric no-battery devices based on a standalone high current computer power supply, but that's really kludgy and you have to know what you are doing to create a high current no-battery device like that.

Short answer: No, you can't avoid the battery, even in devices that can be run off a USB power supply.

P.S. What's the problem with the price of a battery? In my corner of the world a pack of butts now cost more than a single quality AW 18650 battery. Last I checked a battery lasts a lot longer than a pack of cigarettes.
