Hi y'all,
This is my first post in any ecig forum ever.
Been a cigarette smoker for soo damn long " can't remember when it all starts or may be shocked it's been that long !!! " 15 years or more a pack a day till now.
Been introduced to vaping 2 years ago and since that date I'm on and off swinging between analog and electronic !
The point is that I enjoy vaping ... HOLD ON and cigarettes A LOT.
Cigarettes is not just a habit to me I'm sorry to say it's part of me and my personality " the only friend " when there is no any .. the break time ... the tense hours ... the boring waiting times ... thinking times ... happy time ...sad ones as well ... it's part of my day not to mention with coffee after meals and before bed during deep discussions and the silly ones when I'm not listening..it's my motive to get a job done ... The every hell situation on earth worth a cig !!
vaping does help but I feel it's fine to vape between each cigarette but to replace it for me is OMG I just can't tried but couldn't !!
One last thing and what kills me for real is that why should I give up smoking when it hasn't done any bad to me so ... so far And many people lead a successful and happy life while smoking ... Big leaders great doctors and professors used to smoke ... why should I quit ... if it is meant to harm it would harm anyone and everyone ... how about people who don't smoke and suffer a lot of pain and health issues ...
Shall I quit .. do I really have to !

We all have got that old uncle that survived till 90 while smoking a pack per day. But everybody still forgets how many uncles didn't get even to 60 while smoking a pack per day. We only see what we want.

So it's up to you.. My father is 50 and smokes a lot, i mean 3 pack per day. The doctor said he's fine right now, no lung problems or heart problems but the various bad things are behind the corner and life can toally change in a matter of weeks.

I really understand what you mean by saying "the break time ... the tense hours ... the boring waiting times ... thinking times ... happy time ...sad ones as well ... it's part of my day not to mention with coffee after meals and before bed during deep discussions and the silly ones when I'm not listening".

I guess you're just vaping the wrong way. To quit smoking, if you smoke a lot of analogs, you have to start with a no-flavor ejuice with a 50/50 pg/vg ratio and lot of nicotine inside (18+mg).

Anyway it's also up to you.. you need to want to quit smoking. You can't totally put yourself in the hands of an ecig.

For me I was only able to quit and make the switch completely because I WANTED to quit! I enjoyed smoking too and I smoked both ciagrettes and a pipe daily but I found with vaping that not only did I enjoy it more but I felt better in general, more energy, easier to breathe, not getting winded after a few flights of stairs, etc.

I would disagree that going plain 50/50 high nicotine is the only way to make the switch completely. For me it was discovering new flavors and staying away from the so called "tobacco" flavors. I also had a pretty mild beginners set up so 50/50 vg/pg would have destroyed my coils lol.

If you ever decide that you truly WANT to quit smoking and go vape only then there are plenty of options out there and you will find what works best for you.

To touch a little bit on your comment that "smoking hasnt done any bad to you". There is no question that smoking has done bad to you, but you may currently be lucky enough that it hasnt caused any serious health issues. Smoking unequivocally does damage to the human body. We are not intended to inhale smoke. It damages the linings in your lungs, causes heart problems, increases your risk of having a stroke, and so on and so on. It is important not to ignore these facts because smoking does affect the human body. I am certainly not saying that vaping doesnt but to my knowledge there is currently insufficient data concerning the short and long term effects of vaping. I do not believe that vaping is healthy and I never will, but I do believe that it is the lesser of 2 very enjoyable evils!

I was there at one time, it's an old frienemy that was always there when I needed to vent. It's not the easiest decision to make, and while you may not feel the effects of it now, in the long run they may rear their ugly heads, sadly. Quitting is good! When your smokers cough disappears, and senses of smell and taste return, you'll wonder why you didn't quit sooner. May I suggest a Juul pod system to help you curb your cigarette cravings? 50mg nicotine salt pods will give you quite the buzz lol. Quitting is really up to you, while it isn't easy in the slightest, you have the tools available to assist you. Good luck, and welcome to ECF!

between here and there
Welcome to ecf. You have certainly picked the right place to be. I can totally relate to your 'relationship' with cigarettes. But friendships can come in many forms. Some are passing, some fill a need for a while, some last a life time. But just remember it is ok for those friendships to take a break or even end for whatever reason.

I am glad you have not yet suffered any long lasting effects from smoking, but it has a way of sneaking up on you. One day you are ok, next day you realize you are not fine.

There is no wrong way to vape or smoke. It is entirely up to the individual as to how they want to live. No one else can decide that for you.

When you are ready to give up the smokes at least you have the alternative. Lots of us didn't have that option for years and years. Until ecigs came along. I can honestly say that I know these devices have saved my life, cause I smoked for a lot longer than you and more per day. I may or may not have dodged a bullet. Only time will tell.

Good luck on whatever you decide. At least with ecigs you can mingle in a crowd and unless you pull it out and vape no one knows you partake in that habit. With cigarettes everybody knows you smoke cause it stinks so bad.

:)

Welcome to ECF!

Some friendships are toxic and should be discontinued. If you had a friend that was adding arsenic to your morning coffee, would you continue that friendship?

You are fairly young yet. I smoked for longer than you have been alive.

The bad effects of smoking are cumulative, they add up over the years. The longer you smoke, the more those bad effects will show.

As others have said, it's your life and only you can make decisions about how to live it. We're not here to lecture or try to force you to quit. We couldn't if we wanted to.

We're here to help you pick equipment and offer support in other ways.

Motivate yourself! There's no easy way out, there's no shortcut home. "Success is not something you run after, but something you ATTRACT by the person you become"

You'd be amazed at what a little motivation can do...don't underestimate something as simple as putting a sign up next to a mirror that says "I will quit smoking. I will not be a slave to cigarettes. I will improve my health." I mean, if the desire to quit isn't there, it will not happen easily, or at all.

One last thing and what kills me for real is that why should I give up smoking when it hasn't done any bad to me so ... so far

That reminds me of the joke about the man that jumped off the top of a 100 story building. Every floor down they heard him say, so far so good, so far so good.

Thank you gentlemen for your support.
I'm using currently a nautilus tank and some so called tobacco juice 9 mg nic it's a bit harsh on the throat yet usually fix the buzz.
I'm in love with Halo Tribeca but unfortunately it's not easy at all to put my hands on any where I live.
May be that's another reason why I go mad and rush to a tobacconist.

Yes, a lot here. I still read most every day. Its on my tablet which sits on the nightstand.

I was very tired of the smell, walking 50 yards, etc. Write down the reasons for not smoking. It is a conscious decision and finding the reasons to quit is needed. But, nicotine does not have to be stopped. If you find that vaping is not strong enough, increase the mg content. I had stronger mg content juice for when I got up in the morning. That helped.

So many good changes about switching and cigarettes are really disgusting. Vaping is not as simple as pulling one from a pack and lighting it. That is another thing.

If it is hard to commit to a decision, then reinforce the reasons why the decision is made. Mentally, I was ready. I bought a set-up and filled the tank and set it aside. I smoked the last cigarette of the day and when I woke the next day, I vaped only. By lunchtime, I knew that my nicotine need, at any time, was covered.

Great rewards and it is actually an enjoyable hobby. Good luck!

I had a love with smoking like you. It got to 3 packs a day an I couldn't talk to someone without coughing my head off even to the point that I would tinkle on myself. I had it it was really time for me to quit. But my mind was made up haven't looked back.an I don't cough. Ps my boyfriend smokes next to me. I am done forever with them.

It can change in a matter of seconds. My dad had a heart attack at 50 3 packs a day. If not for a bayer an 911 he would have died right there. He went cold turkey after that
