Is vaping becoming a "thing" with teenagers now?

Well I know in my state at least hookah has sky rocketed in the past 2 years with the opening of atleast 3 insanley large hookah bars/lounges. I do know teens who hookah whilst partying or so says my niece who is 17 (yes teens that are still in highschool). So its only a matter of time before they pick up onto vaping and all the fun mods and juices involved. Which sucks especially if your a parent and doesnt want your teen getting hooked on nicotine. I think teens will love the attraction of being able to vape in between classes, in the bathroom with no smell, or on the way home from school...thus the reason why its going (if it hassnt already) spread like wild fire amongst teenagers.

Unfortunate reallity yes but so much better than the reallity of harmful carcinogines from smoking a pack of reds or newports.

I'm a 21 year old so from a younger adults point of view. Almost everyone in my college that smoked hookah and every party is starting to get into vaping. I personally got into vaping because I started to notice the effects of analogs on my body and was seeking a cleaner alternative.
Hopefully everyone on ECF doesn't see it as a bad thing because vaping is a safer and cleaner alternative to hookah and analogs and even though us "kids" see it as the new trend at least we're not getting into analogs because we see it as cool.

If a young person goes from analogs to ecigs that is a good thing in my book. I would question anyone who just starts vaping out of the blue or because their friends are doing it. No one yet has said the intake of nicotine is a good thing for anyone.
When I first saw all these sweet, fruity, candy, cake, cola etc., flavors available at all the juice vendor sites, I really thought they were aimed at very young people, perhaps I'm wrong there?

As a 42 year old adult, I can say with absolute certainty that I enjoy the candy, sweets, bakery, fruity, soda-pop-y flavors. I have a hunch that other adults would agree. So I don't believe that any age-specific targeting is going on there. ;)

Yup! 53 and I lean toward fruit/beverages flavors.

The problem with younger people getting into vaping is they are probably more prone to breaking the gear they have,If I was still 18 and I owned a tank and some ego batteries I believe I would either lose what I have get it stolen or break it while out drinking ect.I'm a little older now and try to care of the stuff I have,I guess you can say I'm a little more mature than I was at 20.Not that everyone at 20 is immature but I was.

it's new, mods are shiny and MANY treat them as an accessory... Think of how much people spend on a metal tube that holds batteries and lights a coil (a flashlight? lol) just to have one that looks better or is harder to get... I suspect that teens are more susceptible to this kind of thinking than most... just take a look at all the other useless things marketed to teens like this. The instant you start seeing celebrities walking around with $500+ mods on the cover of magazines, you'll see kids FLOCKING to get something similar.

I've noticed a lot of college-aged people at vape shops -- just at the tail end of their teens. It seems weird to me that they're vaping, but I'm glad they're not smoking. The young people I've seen almost always by FuZion Vapor e-liquids. The candy tastes and funky colors appeal to them, I suppose.

I'm only 24, but I smoked for 6 years and was smoking about 30 cigarettes a day before I quit. I smoked more than most of my friends, but a lot of them were close to a pack a day as well.

I think the core assumption (as told to us by the ANTS) is that fewer young people are smoking. I live in a college town and have a 21 year old son who is very active socially. I don't think he knows a single person who does not smoke. The vast majority of them started smoking before they came away to college by the way. He works at a "socially conscious" club that is all organic (yes all organic alcohol and beers) and even they all smoke. Our little town also has 3 hooka bars and 5 smoke shops. Trust me the general population here is not keeping them all in business. I keep my son, his best friend and I strongly suspect one of their girl friends in e-juice to encourage them away from smoking as much as possible. My point is I think more young people do smoke than the powers that be are willing to acknowledge because admitting that it is still popular with them amounts to failure in smoking prevention.

There's been a bit of a brouhaha over here about e-cigs being used by pupils in schools recently. It made the news that some schools have banned their pupils from using e-cigs, despite the fact that there had been no evidence of them using them indoors or trying to pass off cigarettes as e-cigs. The majority were with the ban and a minority were supportive of pupils using e-cigs as a substitute for cigarettes.

I tried my first cigarette at 14 and it was common for teachers to join pupils smoking on breaks. Around half of my smoking group continued to smoke for years later and half never tried cigarettes again after leaving school.

I can't help but feel that, on one hand, this sudden wave of e-cig popularity will encourage minors to try them, on the other I believe that any minor who is intent on trying cigarettes, uses e-cigs as an alternative is a good thing.

There will always be kids who want to try smoking out and if they instead pick up an e-cig and carry on their use instead, that's a positive in my book. But the people who are currently trying to ban e-cigs here are using this as fuel to their fire.

Haha I see all the kids vaping hash with their e cigs. The Electronics generation I guess.

I did have a friend of mine borrow a battery and he bought a stardust off of me because he wanted to try this. Personally, I don't use ......... and never really have, except for the usual high-school age experimenting. But I'm not trying to stand in the way of people doing things that they want to do and don't harm others. He just ended up not liking it, though.

I see a lot of hookah kids convert to vaping, not a bad thing imo. Vaping is harmless compared to all the self destructive things teenage kids do nowadays. It doesn't bother me when parents buy devices and juices for their teenagers to get them to quit smoking or even use it as an alternative/distraction to drugs and whatnot.

I'm very disturbed by the folk here associating the flavors with young people..

they already did it once, so they have precedence, but I agree, the idea that adults don't like things that taste good is mind-boggling. Apparently policy makers don't only talk s#!t but eat it too.
