Maria S., there are a lot of threads on this already. For starters, so you have a clearer idea of what's going to happen, here's a brief summary:

Easy to understand explanation of FDA rules

To add to that, no new product can be introduced after August 10, 2016: if it wasn't available commercially by then, then that state-of-the-art hardware or newest fancy eliquid won't be available.

As time goes on, you'll see more and more vape shops close, as the FDA requires that they register with them.

Probably soon (by August 2016, though opinions differ), obtaining anything via the internet will become more difficult: the FDA is requiring some sort of age-ID system.

So, yeah, stock up now.

There are a lot of threads on this. Here's one:

New FDA regulations and effect on DIY?

You can find more by clicking on "New Posts" and then look for threads mentioning "DIY" and "FDA" in the titles.

Maria, Vaping will be just fine.

There are court cases filed and Congressional action that WILL take place that will set the predicate date for devices to NOW. There will need to be some tweaking so far as devices made After the predicate date but that's minor compared to the overall scope.

You're still going to be able to get Vape gear and juice.

There May Be some plot complications if your state is particularly Vape Rabid but those states are few.

If you want a logical counterpoint for all the Banning HYSTERIA, do a search for post with my nickname
in those very obvious Vape Deeming Reg threads.

No one can say 100% exactly what is going to happen thus far. Let's just say that if the grandfather date (the predicate date) isn't moved up considerably, we won't have much to choose from, because the equipment we're using now is way more advanced than just a few years ago, much less 2007, which is the date mentioned above. Most of the industry will fold due to the exorbitant cost of product applications, which aren't guaranteed to pass. In other words, a company could fill out an application, pay the hundreds of thousands of dollars for just ONE of their products, get refused and lose their application money.

That said, there are multiple lawsuits, inquiries, petitions, Senate bills and proposals, and personal letters in the works. Whether those will make any difference, we can't be sure at this point.

I'm not freaking out, but I'm doing what I can do be prepared for whatever happens. Even if what we have now doesn't disappear, you can bet with the taxes they will levy, things will cost more. Maybe much more.

What you can do:
Get a very reliable mod or two (or five, lol) that has replaceable batteries, not built-in batteries.

Learn to make your own e-liquid. Buy some nic base to store in the freezer.

Get a rebuildable dripping atomizer (RDA) or rebuildable tank atomizer (RTA), and learn to make your own coils. If you are using a tank that requires you buy premade coils, then if that tank somehow just disappears, so will the coils, and you won't be able to buy them any longer. This is the hardest part for me, because I haven't yet found an RTA that fits what I'm looking for, and I don't have a lot of time.

Personally, I have no idea what will happen, but I don't want to take the chance of going back to the paltry cig-a-likes that didn't help me quit smoking.

I recall several conversations with a friend who happens to be an owner of a popular online vape store who actually survived the 2007 FDA ban on e-cigarettes. Oversea shipments from China were seized by US Customs, resulting in the majority of online vape supply stores to go under. That ban was shortlived because NJoy filed a lawsuit against the FDA's ban. The judge ruled in favor of NJoy, and ordered the FDA to do a study of ecigarettes and make new regulations on their sale by 2013.

Well, the FDA chose to rely on "junk science" studies procurred by Big Pharma and Big Tobacco, who have the most to lose should the E-Cigarette industry prosper. So, we have the current regulations which begin to go into effect in August 2016 described in the above posts.

As stated above, anything can happen between 2016 and 2018. Lawsuits have been filed, and legislation is drafted to change the rules in our favor. But there are no guarantees for anything at this point.

I choose to be prepared for the worse, and hope for the best. I have two mechanical mods topped with rebuildable drippers (RBA's). I've been building my own coils for about two years now, preparing for the worse.

I've dropped my need for nicotine from 18 mg to 3 mg over the last two years. I have dabbled in DIY flavors a little, and have about 250ml of 24mg nicotine base left. Pg and Vg and flavoring agents will always be available to the DIY vaper. 18650 batteries, wire for building coils, and wick materials will always be available, too.

We really don't know how bad things will get after Aug 2016, so best to be safe and stock up now. Depending on your states rules about buying tobacco products online and taxing tobacco products, prices could get high and we don't know how shipping of tobacco products will be. Since FDA has said vape products are now tobacco products it is a whole new ball game that none of us really knows how bad it will be. Our only hope is the lawsuits win in our favor but only time will tell.

State laws is what I worry about, I checked out my state laws on tobacco products and any seller or manufacturer ( wraps coils or makes e juice) must belong to a tobacco seller & manufactures group and they can only sell approved tobacco products which has to be listed in the states master list. Well there are zero vape products on that master list, so my state could be totally screwed. Any tobacco product not on this list is contraband :( Might be good to look up your states laws on who and what tobacco can be sold in your state.

So I have been stocking up but I smoke tobacco flavored juice, I don't think I could figure out how to make that. I also smoke 100%vg so lets just hope this blows over and they realize that vaping is no worse then drinking damn soda.

Maybe not an outright ban like they attempted in 2007. However, the way the Rules & Regulations now read, it will make it extremely difficult and costly for vendors and manufacturers to sell or make ecigarettes in the near future. Most vendors and manufacturers within the vaping industry are small Mom & Pop type businesses that can't afford the costs to apply for every item or juice that they currently carry. Most will be forced to close shop.

The FDA's intent is quite clear to most of us who have been following the situation for the last few years. The FDA clearly does not want anything but cigalike (pre-2007) e-cigs on the market after 2018.

Learn to be vape apocolypse proof.

Gearwise:
Mechanical (unregulated) mod. Should last decades because there are no electronic parts or internal batteries to fail. A Beginner's Guide to Your First Mechanical Mod

Rebuildable Atomizer. Learn to make your own coils. Its not hard; if you can braid hair you can wrap a coil. Homemade coils last for months at a time.
Wire and wick material and replaceable batteries will always be available because they are used in other industries. Wire and wick material are dirt cheap compared to replaceable coil heads for clearomizers, so you'll be saving money to boot. Information Resources for Your First RBA

Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup

DIY Eliquids:
This is the tough one. The FDA will most certainly ban the sale of nicotine base used to make homemade e-liquid. People are stocking up now.
Pg (propylene glycol), Vg (vegetable glycerin), and flavoring extracts will always be available because they are used in other industries.

Making your own juice is actually very easy to do. It's simply mixing a few different liquids together. I'm vaping on a homebrew tobacco flavor consisting of 50%PG/50%VG, 12MG PG based nic and 1.5% flavoring. Very simple recipe. Measure, pour, mix and shake. done.

I don't think the regs will blow over. We may win some battles going forward and the final outcome may not be as dire as initially predicted, but for now, the worst-case scenario was dropped on us. It's best to prepare for that. A little over 2 years from now, if none of the efforts to change the regs pan out, virtually the only thing left on the market will be closed-system e-cigs like Blu or Vuse.

While you have the opportunity, learn all you can to be self-sufficient. This means coil building, battery safety, DIY e-juice, product selection etc. You'll find plenty of help and resources here. Don't worry. It's really not as intimidating as it may seem.

The AIO is a decent product and one I would normally have no problem recommending. However, with the way things look for our future, I can only recommend devices that have replaceable batteries. Internal batteries that aren't user replaceable have limited life.
