I'm a member of one of his FB groups, and I no longer visit that group because it is for the most part un-moderated.

I like that you can have a heated debate here and it doesn't devolve into meaningless name calling. There is plenty of fun had here, and if it's not your cup of tea, it's the internet and there are plenty of other forums out there.

Edit: I also like that registered suppliers are vetted, and that members selling in the classifieds are verified. While I know it won't absolutely keep me from getting scammed, I feel better about buying something here than on ebay or craigslist.

trolling and foul language are part of any forum dynamic. they're two things i find quite enjoyable

Who told ya that? They are an option - ECF chooses not to exercise that option.

Of course if you insist you can always go to Vapers Forum where avatars with animated boobies and use of the f-word five times per sentence are mandatory. Between all the jiggling ta-ta's and f-bombs I can never figure out what anyone is actually saying. But they sure do enjoy their ta-ta's and f-bombs. I graduated from middle school once, at my age I don't feel a need to revisit the experience.

Yeah, this forum has clearly lost it's way...

:offtopic:- What kind of mods are in your avatar? The top one is the greatest logo one can placed on just about anything:thumb:

On topic- Is it frowned upon to be a member of multiple forums? I'm pretty new to the whole forum thing, not trying to troll or anything just curious. I must say, I do check ECF pretty much daily, but there have been times I was in need of some advice, or wanting to start a new thread with no response. It actually surprised me that with all the opinions I see on here I wasn't able to muster up so much as one reply in some cases. Could be my own fault for not using the search correctly and finding the answer to my question on an already started thread....In any case, I enjoy this forum and others. All for different reasons. (Don't worry ECF, you will always be my first;))

Well, the verification process allows eBay user status as the check so I don't see how it makes it safer than eBay.

True enough, but the requirements for using ebay to become verified are nice. It's stuff that I could easily look up about a seller myself on ebay, but ECF does it for me.

Whew, y'all are a little defensive huh! If you like your ECF, you can keep it! Nobody is telling you that you HAVE to go check out this not even open yet, wild west, post apocalyptic, Sodom and Gomorrah of a forum. There there, it's going to be OK! (pats heads and scratches behind ears.) ;)

It's just one option of many, as is ECF. I check out several, and I'm not easily offended by dirty words and ta ta's. If it's fun, and has useful info, awesome. If it sucks, oh well.

anyone remember BBS-ing back before the days of "free" AOL disks bombarding your mailbox?

Disks? Floppies right? Used to collect those and cover the labels so I could name them whatever after unlocking them.

Myspace..... Now there's a blast from the past..... :D

Friendster parties were the sht

At least he removed the donations box from the blog, as he is making money on every "deal" link, every ad. Serious money.

I'm waiting for him to start his own religion. As long as there's a buck in it...

5k a month. 60k a year isn't that much for your only job. He just does his sites. And why shouldn't a person get paid for their published content now matter the content? I pirate a lot of things on the web. But do I think people making movies and music shouldn't get paid for what they do? I listen to NPR. I don't think that people who work for a free radio shouldn't get paid for the job they do. I've never understood this argument against Joe when people bash him. I live in Tx where 60k/yr can let you live comfortably. But if that's your business and you have to pay for server, rackspace, bandwidth, domain fees, and what not else, conservatively that gives you 50 left. I can live on that here just fine. But my girlfriend's parents in NJ, nope, and that's in South Jersey. Try going to North Jersey across from NY. Living expenses will eat you up. But anyways, point being he is a content provider, whether you like the content or not, it is a service, and services are not free.

We all have our opinions...personally, I'm excited to register on Vapor Joe's forum once it goes online, and I signed up for the newsletter.

I obviously like the high volume of traffic here at ECF, which is my main reason for posting here daily....but I also prefer if the boards here were more relaxed, and allowed more content to be posted.

For instance, I see threads banned all the time, or closed, for harmless humor, or things I don't entirely agree with.

There is heavy moderation here, and the admin here has a very CLEAR idea of what he/she wants, and has made that well known to the members here.

Again, I like ECF, but I'm just being honest....I would love to see a forum with less moderation.

I'm a member of lots of forums for lots of topics. Longest is xda-developers. Been there many years. I see this place like it. It's gonna be THE place cause it was THE first. But when I want to learn without asking, which is one reason I love forums, it doesn't come from here. Others I'm in have a wealth of info in stickies and threads with how-tos write ups and it's so easy to find things. This place has lots of traffic, lots of people and good info is hard to find. Unless you ask for it. Then people are nice and help, but I hate asking and would rather read. Over on xda we have tons of helpful stickies covering all subjects. No need to ask a question. We call the ones who ask the spoon fed tribe.

Nothing wrong with being a member of many forums! From my old and female point of view, I just find constant expletives and general nastiness boring and annoying. So I personally do prefer to stay right here and feel the Mods do a great job. There's only one problem I have found of late. Never mind vaping, I've become addicted to ECF lol!

I'm sure there's many ideas and conversations I've missed out on with that point of view as a result, but I can't put up with wading through all the waste.

Well, when Vapor Joe starts his pimp of the 'new' forum by labeling ECF as having "Nazi" moderation what would you expect? :p

That said, I don't begrudge Joe the opportunity to make a few bucks doing what he is doing or opening a forum of his own. He's a Facebook friend and I belong to at least two of his Facebook groups, Mod Envy & Vaping Deals and Steals.

Personally, I hate forums that don't let you and me say exactly what we want to say whenever and however we choose; but not everything is about what you or I want, or what you or I feel is appropriate.

Anyone who thinks that ECF is "too heavily moderated" needs to ask themselves one simple question: Is ECF a place that I would feel comfortable pointing my mother, grandmother, or local government representative to for more information about this crazy "vaping" thing?

Actually i have gone there on occasion because someone has spouted about some fantastic deal in this forum or another forum only to see it wasnt any big deal. I visit a few different sites and forums on occasion to try to get the most information i can about vaping as it has become a part of my life.

I just do not see what Vapor Joes has to offer to help the vaping community other than his commercial profits. And that is just fine, but to announce his forum by bashing other forums shows no class in my opinion. And time will tell how well his forum contributes to the vaping community.

And yes i do Care about ECF forum as it has helped me tremendously with advice and a Great group of people that i have met. If his intention was to bash this forum it offends me as i think it is unnecessary
Just my :2c:

And yet you clearly still visit his site regularly and care enough to start a thread here.
